- Elon Musk may be one of the hottest CEOs right now, with Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, OpenAi he has his fair share of experience with marketing. This video tries to explain Tesla's newly revealed $0 social marketing budget! They spend nothing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even youtube. Their whole goal is to create enough media interest that they provide all the advertising required.

I get what you're saying but it was meant to be a Test flight not an ad. They just needed some dummy payload so why not a Tesla? It was a bonus and a lot cheaper than just launching a rocket for an ad.
That was my gut reaction too but the rocket was going to be launched anyway. As long as the mounting hardware cost less than a concrete dummy weight being made and mounted it's advertising cost functionally zero.
Gotta put some payload in a test flight anyway, so it was either loading up a big block of concrete or loading something else that is heavy enough to prove that the falcon heavy can carry the load to orbit. The Roadster was Musk's own car (on which he payed full price as he always does), so it cost the company zero dollars to do this, yet it shattered the internet:-)
Also, Tesla didn’t pay for anything. The car was Musk’s and the launch was paid for by SpaceX. So, yes, $0.
That Tesla roadster was more like a Lotus with a battery.. It has to go far away!
Elon is smart. Instead of showing himself and his products on peoples faces he simply made himself liked by people. Engaging with the community, making jokes, being more human.

Step 1: make a product so good while so cheap, that none of your competitors can offer anything similar. Both Tesla and SpaceX are first of all a revolution in terms both in terms of the technology to create the product, which lowered the cost a lot, but on top of that the products themselfs are a revolution. Self driving electic cars with a range long enough so it would be a reasonable car for your family or as a business car (not to mention not looking like shit like the BMW car lol).

No, the Tesla that was sent to space was his 2010 roadster, one of the first Tesla vehicles ever produced.
@@raphaelv8062 yeah, it was rather outdated too, battery probably not the best after all those years either. It wouldn't be wrong to say, that this car was more of a test car for tesla and musk, rather than a competitor for other cars on the market. I watched a video about it, where they said you might get one if you already own multiple cars, but never as your main car and that is totally true. The specs, especially the range were rather bad, so launching it was really the best thing he could do :D
Its simple, Tesla has success and doesn't need marketing because they are offering quality, authenticity, and innovation through their products.

Illuminated the type of people who are interested/inclined to buy a Tesla, would rather order it online and have it show up in a couple months than deal with a dealership. Not even about the cost savings, it’s convenience. Don’t want to spend hours shopping in dealerships and filling out paperwork.
He just tried (and succeded) something barely anyone has in buisness world: honesty and having a fine and a revolutionary product.

The trick is that the vehicles speak for themselves, traditional auto makers have to try to sell you the same vehicles every year. Tesla made a good car first and let that sell itself.

Elon Musk is one of the smartest people I have ever seen. His marketing is unbelievable. For example, his following on social media and his jokes on Twitter. One less talked about marketing campaign was when he broke the window on the cyber truck. Do you really think that they wouldn’t have tested that it wouldn’t break? He likely did it so that people just wanting to watch for the meme would watch the whole thing and they get free advertisement.
So the way he spent marketing is by creating lotsa products that are the solutions to hot causes, leading the solutions he made into massive organic engagement like a snowball effect, causing all of the companies he led to also benefit from the effect of his solutions. This is super clever. He really created a system that revolves around utilizing the best of organic engagement by solving causes, creating a massive hit that lasts for like forever
