  • Elon Musk may be one of the hottest CEOs right now, with Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, OpenAi he has his fair share of experience with marketing. This video tries to explain Tesla's newly revealed $0 social marketing budget! They spend nothing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even youtube. Their whole goal is to create enough media interest that they provide all the advertising required.

    I dunno I'd say launching a Tesla Roadster into space is more than $0

    • @SiMo_OfficiaI
      @SiMo_OfficiaI 4 ปีที่แล้ว +873

      I get what you're saying but it was meant to be a Test flight not an ad. They just needed some dummy payload so why not a Tesla? It was a bonus and a lot cheaper than just launching a rocket for an ad.

    • @TheSpacecraftX
      @TheSpacecraftX 4 ปีที่แล้ว +253

      That was my gut reaction too but the rocket was going to be launched anyway. As long as the mounting hardware cost less than a concrete dummy weight being made and mounted it's advertising cost functionally zero.

    • @michelstronguin6974
      @michelstronguin6974 4 ปีที่แล้ว +150

      Gotta put some payload in a test flight anyway, so it was either loading up a big block of concrete or loading something else that is heavy enough to prove that the falcon heavy can carry the load to orbit. The Roadster was Musk's own car (on which he payed full price as he always does), so it cost the company zero dollars to do this, yet it shattered the internet:-)

    • @TheDiscrazy
      @TheDiscrazy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      Also, Tesla didn’t pay for anything. The car was Musk’s and the launch was paid for by SpaceX. So, yes, $0.

      Step 1: make a product so good while so cheap, that none of your competitors can offer anything similar. Both Tesla and SpaceX are first of all a revolution in terms both in terms of the technology to create the product, which lowered the cost a lot, but on top of that the products themselfs are a revolution. Self driving electic cars with a range long enough so it would be a reasonable car for your family or as a business car (not to mention not looking like shit like the BMW car lol).

    For a second I thought this video was about the genius of Nikola Tesla.
    Ya know he’d roll his eyes when seeing us still burning stuff for energy 100 years after his time

    Man, your voice has potential to be a great narrator... With a little practice and age I believe you would get there. Thanks for the video!

    This "free media promotion equation" can also be seen with other people...Kanye (controversy/Music Innovation/Hype), Billie Eilish (style/fashion choices/DIY approach to making music), Joe Rogan (medium/lack of structure/Controversial guests) and Steve Jobs (Personality/Driving cars without license plates/personal story)

    Bruh it’s even more meta than that because you’re advertising them while explaining their ads

      Unfortunately, we are such a small team that we can't reliably upload but we TRY to make one video a month. As you can see we don't always hit these targets.
      You have heard it a million times, but the best way to make sure to stay up to date with our content is by pressing the bell icon near the subscribe button below our video.
      Hope you enjoy our content!

    Yeah look at the cyber truck, not one single ad but it managed to become a meme

  • @jaytaylor5876

    Elon Musk is one of the smartest people I have ever seen. His marketing is unbelievable. For example, his following on social media and his jokes on Twitter. One less talked about marketing campaign was when he broke the window on the cyber truck. Do you really think that they wouldn’t have tested that it wouldn’t break? He likely did it so that people just wanting to watch for the meme would watch the whole thing and they get free advertisement.

    So the way he spent marketing is by creating lotsa products that are the solutions to hot causes, leading the solutions he made into massive organic engagement like a snowball effect, causing all of the companies he led to also benefit from the effect of his solutions. This is super clever. He really created a system that revolves around utilizing the best of organic engagement by solving causes, creating a massive hit that lasts for like forever
