I just returned from Lake Champlain, didn't get any Lakers (which I also love) but caught everything else including a PB Pike. I typically fish the Rondout Reservoir for Brown & Lakers. 90% of the time, I am walking the banks and have my best months in the Fall during the spawn. I fished it for 3 years before I caught my 1st trout. The polaroids of 20 lb plus fish at the local tackle store kept me coming back knowing all I needed was a little fine tuning. When shore fishing, I use a 7’6” medium power, fast action rod throwing 1/4 oz spinners w/10lb braid. The reservoir is 190’ deep with 12 miles of shoreline. I also have a 12’ row boat w/a Garmin Striker fish finder on the reservoir. I very seldom use it because it’s so much work being the reservoir is a rowing only body of water. Aside from it being a great fishery, it also supplies NYC its water. I have been fishing this reservoir for over 25 years & turned 60 in August. I vowed to put more pressure on it with the hope of landing a 20lb plus trout. I know bringing my boat into the mix will not only extend my season, it would also provide the best opportunity to get over a MONSTER fish. Got myself set up last night to hit it hard today & tomorrow. My question is, what are the specs of a rod you would use to Jig at Champlain?
A drift sock might help you in your boat. Buy one bigger than the chart says. I run a 30” in an 11’ canoe. I wish I went with a 36” for a slower drift. Anyhow, total game changer. I bought a Lindy. Went from rarely catching to limiting out. I do run Garmin 2d echo fish finder.
I want you to come to Lake Tahoe if your set up works just as well here and you can catch a lot with your homemade baits , I bought a lot but don’t have the livecope yet but found a lot of Lake trout and still can’t catch
@@BendItFishing. Well come to Tahoe and show us how it’s done, we have some huge lake trout in this lake up to 30lbs, I want to invest in a live scope system , I have all your baits , but can’t catch , I want to see if you can catch as easy here as you do on your home lake
@@BendItFishing there is a cable that comes out of the LVS34 transducer and connects to the GLS10. the "front" of the lvs 34 is where that cable exits, correct? if so, in forward mode the cable side of the lvs34 should be higher, that is, angled up, no?

Both rods a fish on champlain are heavy bass rods they don't make anymore but 7 foot heavy that can take a 2 ounce jig
@@BendItFishing Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Where the cable comes in is the front of the transducer
It goes into the gls10 box "black box"
@@BendItFishing where the cable is joined to transducer - that is the front.
I'm confused on the question

@Badkharma21 it depends on what side of the trolling motor it's mounted on. But generally the wire is in the back.
