Hey Buff! I am a stock steering wheel guy. I have to have the stock steering wheel on my classic car. Its what you are constantly touching when driving so I feel that the stock wheel gives you that connection with the era and age of the car. Sound crazy? Maybe its just me.

Nice video, thanks. I never had this problem when I drove my 79 Monte Carlo every day. I now park it in my friend's garage which is cool but a little damp for months at a time, and now I get the sticky. So not sure what causes it. My interior is maroon, so I'm gonna have to check their other colors.
Hey John, I personally need to have the stock steering wheel on my cars. A classic car with an aftermarket wheel to me is a big no-no. With the stock wheel which you are always holding while driving gives you that driving experience of a classic car. i feel an aftermarket wheel takes that away. call me crazy😂😂
@@MrWill73 I tend to agree, especially where the wheel has personality of its own, like the Road Runner or “tuff wheel” steering wheels. I really can’t imagine changing the factory wheels out in anything I have. But we are all different….
Never had that problem on my 1977 Ventura with marron interior and wheel, however my 1975 Camaro with Black GT wheel and interior was a gummy, sticky mess. My hands would get black with that mess. It is the petroleum in the material leaching out as you said. I just wonder if it is mostly the black wheels. Is the reason they sold millions of those wheel wraps.
Hey man I’ve got a 1974 k20 Chevy truck when I started her up the hazard lights were on and I’ve been trying to figure out where the switch is and Thanks for the vid
That's an issue that I have seen many times but I have owned an 85 GMC Sierra 3500 Pick up truck for 14 years and I have never experienced with my truck. crazy right. BTW, very nice GMC! I am a huge fan of Square Body GMC trucks! 👍👍👍
Solid fix to the sticky wheel, great job! 😎👍😎
Thanks "Top Commenter", I mean Ron. Lol.
@@haffrods7055 Yeah man
This seems like a real solution finally lol. Haven’t tried it personally but I think I’ll try it this winter on my Monte.
Awesome tip! I love to fix and restore vs replace. Thanks for posting this!
Thank You Buff. Appreciate the kind words man

@@johnwilburn Yes we are. I love the feel of an old steering wheel. Its like connecting with the car. Too deep?😂😂😂
I have a 75 caprice The wheel is just nasty sticky. I have a cover on it, but it can only do so much. Looking forward to cleaning mine.
Thanks for the knowledge and tip!!

I love Venturas Wooley. I know exactly the wraps your talking about. Lol.

Personally I would just change it. Grant makes a bunch of good steering wheels.
I was wondering why my steering wheel was sticky on my '78 cutlass supreme, good to know it's a common thing
that looks bad ass, I will do this to my El Camino steering wheel.

What brand of paint and color was it?
