- Last week I shared with you how I found it to be difficult to remove the SD card from the Nikon Zf camera when the SmallRig grip is attached. With help from many of you I found a perfect solution that solved my (and maybe your) problem. Big shout out to @GenshinTravel-mf4dx for helping with this problem.

You could use a car key or a house key, which you may have with you.
Very true!
Your finger is thinner than your thumb. Simply use the thumb on the side with more space and your forefinger on the narrow side b
This camera has such a great hardware, but is not for a professional event photographer to use as a main camera. You can use of course, but I think is way better wait for the Z6 III with better ergonomics.
I see that many photographers are using the Zf for events. While I’m sure that Z6III will be better camera ergonomically out of the box, from tech standpoint Zf is great for events.
@@TouchLifeStudio yes. I see too. Specially here in Brasil is what most could afford to buy. And as you sad ,from tech standpoint is great. But here in Brasil we have to import on black market or if we import , the tax is literally the price of the camera. Like 90% of the price.
So we have to chose with caution. I still use a Z6 II and my D750.
Sam Hurd would disagree (he just moved to a pair of Zf's for weddings / events) 🙂
Does Nikon not have wireless WiFi photo and video transfer? Haven’t removed my cards since 2016.
can you try to test it’s overheating capabilities?
Hmm, I have no problem getting the card out. I use my pointy finger and press the card against the wall and slide it up. Maybe the cameras are all made a little different.
Could be. Many others did mention that they had the same issue with getting the card out when the SmallRig grip is attached.
great idea, tks a lot, we (nearly) all have a coin in our pocket or not far :)
That's great!
BTW, Im not sure if this is a more appropriate solution... Why not just dont take out your SD card and use the usb to transfer files?
Not very practical at an event. Ok to do that at home, but when shooting an event not much time to attach a cable to transfer files.
@@TouchLifeStudio Ok, in event not practical.
hah! Asian size hand like me doesn't have any problem! :D
We all built differently! 😉
Hey man, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, would you be interested to have a logo for your channel branding to have a memorable branding? I would love to help you design it to fit your vision! Let me know if you interested to make it happen!
What if you’ll lose that small round thing you’ve got and you don’t have a quarter in your pocket… I would say, thin (scotch) tape as a pull tab (will never go away)…
Press SD inwards & should spring-out !??
It does but not far enough when the SmallRig grip is attached.
Hmmm. I also found it impossible to remove the SD card from my Zf with the Smallrig grip attached but the solution (for me) really couldn't be simpler: I just depress the card as far as it will go with a fingernail and then slide my finger off. There's more than enough spring energy in the SD card retention mechanism to eject the card far enough to be grabbed easily.
that's a super cool solution! Seriously though it should have been designed where we don't need to find a small object to take out an SD card haha

The tape solution seems like the best idea. I've been popping it out like a spring in the meantime.
Yeah, I’m sure the tape would work just as well.
I have evolved into not removing my cards. I use the USB cable or WiFi to transfer photos to a PC or mobile.
Just grab the card from the thin sides? I have fat fingers with no nails and I have no issue doing that at all with the grip on
How about just using the USB-C to download to your computer and just bypass the whole SD card issue?
I never remoove the card. Just transfer photos using usb cable. Much faster than any card reader.
I think I had a harder time getting the cards IN 😆 I'm a little spoiled by the easy access in my Z8 and earlier Z models. But it's all good with the Zf, just a slight learning curve navigating that small space.
By the way, whoever suggested growing out your thumbnail, ya that's just gross 😆
The micro SD card can def be an issue to insert and remove from the camera.
You can also remove the battery first. Not a perfect solution but doesn’t require additional tools.
Yes, another good one.
Oh, this is a great one too, thanks.
Again looking forward to your further experiences with Nikon ZF...
Lots of great things about the Zf
Basta una piccola pinzetta in plastica ed il gioco è fatto 🤷♂️
Thank you!😎
My biggest problem with the zf is that it doesn't have TV channels in it....
Maybe it’s coming in the next firmware update. 🤔
Awesome, thanks for sharing this. So far, I have decided to use the camera w/o a grip but this would come in handy if I do. I actually want the Japanese grip, not this Small rig grip lol.. the Japanese one is hard to find, but let's see, I hope I can find one, thanks again.
Yes, let me know once you can find one from Japan.
Will do, there is actually one I found but they are being slick and selling it for $300 @@TouchLifeStudio
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I have a small pair of tweezers I use occasionally but usually manage to do it with my fingers although a bit frustrating.
Jeff, that’s exactly what I mentioned in my first video about this problem, but the thing is I don’t think of bringing tweezers when I go shoot weddings, unless I plan to remove splinters for some odd reason.
Oh I don't disagree with you, but for me I don't shoot enough to need to remove the card until I get home, the design of the grip could have been done a bit better that's for sure.@@TouchLifeStudio
I cannot believe we have now had two videos about this non-problem. I have two Zfs and have a SmallRig grip on both. I have not experienced any issues whatsoever in removing the SD card with the grips attached. I have not needed to grow my thumb nail, use Quarters or other devices or use tape.
