I really like it. I'm going buy some of the sets for sure.
I dont particularly like the electronic element. It's hard to pass up having a dry bones lego, so I better make up my mind soon I guess. Your videos have pushed me toward getting them, especially talking about price point.
I'd still love to have minifigures but I'm warming up to this concept and just might pick up a couple sets.
Riddle me this why didnt they use plates for the sets? Like from the soccer set or something. Am I the only one who feels like the 2 by whatever is kinda cheap? The elements of play are so isolated there's no room for expansion. I know mario games are mostly 2d but these are 3d objects. Like even a board game that you built on would be more stimulating right? Sorry to be critical but am I alone in being unimpressed?

Very similar to the 2DS where it was just one big screen and it was masked, literally with tape to make it look like 2 screens. Very neat.

It’s just a gyroscope. Steve Jobs made it yrs ago. With that said it’s so cool to how companies use the technology in their own creative ways. Since it’s one big screen behind the die cut eyes and mouth they had to write code to get the animations of eyes and mouth to sit in the correct parts of the screen. A ton of work just torn apart. Very cool!

Thanks to this video I was able to fix my son's Mario. ☺️
It stopped recognising the default suit and I found out, the outer right connector was bent and didn't make contact anymore. So I removed the face and the hair piece, bent the connector back and reassembled it.
My son indeed recognised the prying marks but was okay with it since I managed to leave them where the suits cover them. And also Mario now works as intended again.

Actually at my parents place we have rules about things that went out literally not working or just getting rid of them because we didn't want them but weren't worth anything for anyone else.

Did you ever get the pants recognized by fixing the front pins? I have the same issue - constant bluetooth logo and after a bit of fiddling i noticed that the contacts on the ends arent working which is the issue. I came to this video to see id it can be taken apart and repaired... i saw at the end of your video that the bluetooth logo was still on marios belly...

For reference, the flashing bluetooth logo not going away is the way these guys break. One of the contacts where he puts on his suit messes up and it is constantly thinking it is trying to connect mode after it. Meaning it interrupts all the rest of the actions the software is trying to do because the bluetooth is constantly trying to connect whether it is connected or not. It's quite annoying. The fix I read about on reddit is to cut the outside contacts off. The Mario will no longer do the "Momma Mia" command when removing the pants, but it stops the constantly trying to connect to bluetooth software break.
Basically if you have a kid that loves to pull his pants off all the time and put them back on, it is literally a matter of when the toy is going to break like this. It is a very delicate toy and expensive.

I came back to this video to say, I managed to trigger the frog suit without owning it, I just used a 1X2 grill piece and stuck it on the exposed metal on the left half, somehow triggered the bee suit too, you can't play with it seeing as you have to hold the grill in place but it's a cheap way to trigger suits you don't have

I eagerly bought this partially because I'm an electrical engineering student and I'm super interested in some of the parts used on this little guy. I wanted to know what displays, controller, accelerometer, and scanner are used and thanks to you, I no longer need to disassemble mine!! I never would've though that someone would make this video for us :) cheers BtB! If you could post an ID for the screen and the scanner, I'd appreciate it a ton. You either use autofocus on your overhead camera or you bring to the focal plane what you are trying to show, the way you are doing it here it's just a blurry mess and it's impossible to see any kind of detail.
Great to watch Boone and I totally want custom face plates. I like it better without the skin tbh.

Very interesting. Got my Lego Mario today and literally the first thing I was asking myself was how it looked on the inside in regards to the electronics. A more detailed look on the circuit board would have been nice for that. But overall, still very interesting.
