  • One of the wildest countries in Europe: Romania. In the summer of 2019 I cycled across the magnificent country of Romania, conquering many of the Carpathians' highest mountains along the way.
    Starting in Belgrade, Serbia, I followed the Danube river towards the border with Romania. Through National Parks and mountain ranges I searched for the remotest of paths and most beautiful mountain passes.

    12:00 I was going to say what a hero you are taking that footpath with that bike, pushing so hard. The people in the countryside don't really know what different bicycle types are for.

    What are the odds? I have a Trek 920 and a Hilleberg Soulo and I use it for touring! Next you will tell me you use a Brooks saddle and ride tubeless tires!
    I do carry a bit more stuff than you as I use an ortlieb handlebar bag along with the trunk bag over the rear rack attached to the rear panniers.
    I live in Iceland and do my touring here. Am however looking for routes in Europe to try out when I can squeeze a longer holiday from work....

      What are the odds indeed! I really like the bike and tent. I also have a Brooks saddle, but not tubeless tires.
      Actually, I will be cycling through Iceland in a few months (April 2020) and I will be carrying some more gear as well. I might see you there!

      @@cyclingaroundtheplanet Nice to hear your plans. I suggest you pack all your winter stuff because April is still snowy and cold here. If you were planning for a spring ride then I would push it back to May at least. What are your route plans?

    • @cyclingaroundtheplanet
      @cyclingaroundtheplanet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will probably cycle mainly on the ring road (clockwise), because from what I have read most other roads are still closed in April.

      @@cyclingaroundtheplanet be prepared for some snow and cold. You can also get low pressure systems with bad weather. You could also strike lucky and have beautiful weather all the way. There are a few mountain passes on the Ring road you will need to cross so be prepared for that. It is almost certain that you will encounter some snow and ice on the road on those sections.
