  • Internet cafe(aka PC bang) is a place where you can pay to use a gaming PC. While it is mainly for playing games, they also have AMAZING food, comfortable seats, and super friendly staffs. It is simply so awesome to spend time in there, that you almost don't want to leave.
In this video, I visit an internet cafe for the first time in almost a decade, and find out why a lot of Koreans are obsessed with internet cafes.

The only way this kind of thing would work is with super strict rules that everyone is willing to follow.

Internet cafes in Korea are still alive and well, but as time goes on, their enthusiasm is waning little by little. The biggest reason is that as the average computer specification in Korea has increased, it is possible to enjoy games together while talking on the phone with friends through Discord at home with better computers than Internet cafe. In fact, if you want to play popular games like LoL, PUBG, or OW2 with your friends, you don't even need a high-end computer. (Like GTX 1060 3GB)

In the Philippines, we also have Internet Cafes. A few years back, I still hangout with my friends in an internet cafe even though we had our own pc and own internet connection at home. Its always like this since I was in high school, then college and even when I had starting working already. It's always better to play in friends. Losing and winning together. It's just something many people do not understand. When COVID hit, I think most internet cafes closed. I can see some of them opening up again. I hope the next generation of gamers get to experience what we had experienced. This video bring back memories.

PC bangs are cool but can be off-putting for non-Korean speakers because there is often a total lack of language options on the PC's making it inaccessible to 98% of the world. The staff are generally cool and can help you but PC bangs in Vietnam, Thailand or even Japan are easier to use because they always have a clear language change option on the login screen. Would help a lot.

Uhm no the pandemic is not the main cause. It's just that most kids nowadays are already satisfied playing games on their mobile phones, and cellphones can do a lot now, so an internet cafe is not really an ideal business to hold on to. Plus some other reasons. Wifi vendo is more profitable.

I love seeing this internet cafe content because I have good memories of internet cafes in my high school years. Since now I'm a full-time employee at IKEA, sometimes I give myself a chance to come back and play again in internet cafe when I'm off to work, but it feels so different and I didn't feel the same way before I'm playing. I used to play for 5-6 hours a day, playing only League of Legends with friends. And now I'm almost giving up in 2-3 matches. I want to play again but the responsibilities first because of adulthood and got bills to pay and mouths to feed. And now I am playing my own game life :(

Here in New Zealand we had a big internet cafe gaming culture 20 years ago, but now that most people have good internet and comptuers at home most places have closed and it's died away.

The US is too rural and with the advent of pcs and game consoles, making people enjoy time at home. I believe arcades are the closet we would get like at a mall, FAR away..., or "lan" parties, the fortunate ones. High density areas are more lucky, as these ideas are more accessible, like korea, japan, etc.
