Roof overhead, bed, tv, internet, bathroom, washroom, food, and laundry for $6 a day. That is extremely reasonable!!!

I remember looking at Goshiwons in Busan and they were like $300-400 a month back in 2013, so this one is a great deal. The thing about Korea is there are so many 24 hour / late night spaces outside your home, (like PC rooms, cafes , restaurants) all you really need your apartment for is sleeping.
I think this $175 is price for Koreans only.😁
On 8:36 it kinda gets me like what this place really are… these days we become like so comfortable with stuff and getting everything we want. But this place is made for people that have like nothing or living at their lowest and they don’t get judge by the owners. This place is like a community and I like it shoutout to the owners and that they make something like this possible.

@@Bob1332s the dorm room I stayed at my 10 years in the US is only 4x bigger but at $1000 per month with also shared bathroom and no free food. I'd say this is a very honest living service suited for students and people who are trying to get by. Students can study and do work in libraries and use the space to sleep.

Honestly, for the location, wifi, and security alone, $175 is a good price. especially in this economy. i also only ever had good experiences from small family-run businesses.

What a pretty and fun girl. I also like how she is a hard worker for her family. Definitely my kind of girl! We need more Goshiwons in this world that is for sure. Simple but safe shelter to get people off the street even if they only work part time.

We desperately need accommodation like this in London. One thing I miss about my time in Seoul is my Goshiwon. My Goshiwon had it's own shower too. And it was so cheap compared to literally anything else here in London that you can rent.
Won't work in western countries . people simply don't respect each other's privacy, coupled with poor behavior will make communal rental places like this into trash

The space and business itself is not that depressing depending on the person as it’s a small family business and amenities are provided and it’s super cheap. However, what is depressing is that the economic disparity is so great that there’s businesses for people who can’t afford anything more than basically a space to have a bed.

I remember watching a similar video done years ago showcasing these tyles of living quarters and it was very fascinating to hear how much they get to share but at the same time how much you get to save. Definitely a very interesting concept to decrease various overhead of housing.

I think the biggest problem with the space other than the lack of windows and ban on guests (poor people need love too, if not more so) is the thickness of the walls. If the walls were thicker the beds and desks could fold up into them and shelf / drawer space could also be created, leaving room for an office chair and maybe even a sofa. Design can go a long way in making a place more comfortable. Hope they clean that window.
What is amazing about the space is the free laundry, filtered water, rice, kimchi, and rooftop access. I love that they thought about these things because it actually shows that they care (as well as them keeping the building clean and maintained) and aren't there simply to nickel and dime the poor. I love and appreciate that they are trying their best.

This remembers me of my time in a Goshiwon during my trip to Seoul !!!😅 I was constantly afraid to hit my knees on the wood when I went to sleep🤣 But it was such a vibe.😇
This type of business is quite common around the world. Some will simply call them dormitory or room rentals. What surprises me the most is the lack of egress windows (in case of a fire) and the size. As in my jurisdiction a (bed) room can't be window less nor smaller than 81 sq ft.
The lay out is very 2 dimensional, most places now rise the bed (4-5 ft of the ground) and offer a work desk and more storage underneath. By elevating the bed you end up adding almost 15-20sq ft and they could thicken the walls (insulation/soundproofing) without losing more living space.
Very interesting concept. Can it be considered similar to capsule hotel but for long stays? Good video! Also like the chemistry!
