    My grandfather is Kurdish from northern Iraq. He lives to be 100 years old. He was very healthy and used to walk to his job every day. He used to DRINK ghee eveyday. All our meals were cooked with ghee while other people in the 1970s were using vegetable oils and vegetable butter and fat. He also used to eat a lot of pomegranate

      steven k now not good for health because of the estrogen injections that they inject the animals with which cannot be destroyed by any process, so ALL milk products contain them and we consume it , this also causes cancer

    We make ghee in a slightly different way. We collect the cream from yoghurt(top layer just like you took from milk). And while churning, I add few spoons of warm water and pulse it for a minute or two. The butter will come just like you showed in this video. Rest procedure is same :)

    Thank you for all your recipes. They are soooo helpful to us. Until recently i had no idea that our traditional ghee is made from ‘cultured butter’ or curd and not just the plain butter that we get in the store. I was just wondering about the foam that gets formed on top when you heat the butter. Don’t we have to remove that?

    Really nicely explained Nisha ji. You made it so easy to understand. ✌️✌️
    Please don't mind when I suggest that towards the end when you are heating the butter please use the word fat or ghee instead of oil. When we heat the butter, the milk fat separates from the milk solids.
    Big thank you sharing your process. You are right in saying that this ayurvedic method of making ghee retains way more nutrients than just heating the malai or cream in a pan to make ghee. Thank you so much!😊

    can we use this buttermilk for baking purpose? if so, how many days can we keep this in fridge? if I'm not adding curd, will the buttermilk serve the purpose?

    • @skinnyrecipes
      @skinnyrecipes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can use it for baking, for kneading dough for roti/poori. If using instead of curd....remember curd is thicker so consistency matters...otherwise it is okay. Hope this helps you, Indu.

      Skinny Recipes thank you for it valuable reply. a small clarification: if I'm not adding curd to the cream for making ghee, can we use that buttermilk for baking... it won't be sour, right?

    • @skinnyrecipes
      @skinnyrecipes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you need to add curd to make ghee (to get the benefits of ghee). sourness of buttermilk depends on the starter curd you use.

    I am from Kerala. My Mom used to cook in Coconut oil n also use Til Oil. Ghee was used to make Upma etc.
    It's now that everyone has stopped using it.
    Refined Oil n all the new stuff.
    Since I am married to a Maharashtrian I also stopped using Coconut Oil. But now I am converting my hubby to Kerala style Cooking by using Ghee Til Oil n Coconut Oil.
    Thank you so much.
    Your Videos are really superb.
    Hope to see more healthy recipes in future.

    Hello Ma'am.. Thanks for this recipe. It helped me a lot and I have been making ghee for more than 6 months now. However for the last two times, the cream is just not turning into butter. Instead it turns into a milk like solution with no butter solids visible. Can you help me and tell me what the problem could be?

      Hi. I faced the same issue several times. Then with a simple trick from my mom, I have made perfect ghee always.
      Once you have blended it with the ice cubes or cold water, just pour it out into a bowl and whip it all once again for a few more mins using a wooden spoon or spatula. This has always helped me to get the butter separated out from the milk. Hope it helps you too.
