yeah the 5.4 went out in 2010. The 3.5 and 5.0 suffer from the cam phaser issue. Once the new part# is installed the engines have proven pretty reliable. But do change the oil.
I think I'll just stick to the tractor and a tow chain I think. Got this. Build a truck rather than to buy one off of a lot. At least if you pull it out you know what you're getting. You got to work on it and you got to build it. Yeah that's where I got a '92 Ford ranger and I'm building the truck one more piece and my whole cooling system will be replaced and that's the water pump and the hoses. Everything else the heads are brand new brand, new radiator, brand new heater, core temperature sensor and I'm good
I have a 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 with 52k miles. I go off road, haul a boat and it’s lifted with 33” tires. I have NOT had a single issue with the drivetrain. The only issue was the rear breaks had premature wear at 34k miles. Front were fine. I have the 2.3 L turbo and it runs great…
The Brits say, “Nissan, something’s Missin’.” We don’t want no stinkin’ EVs. And, We don’t NEED No Broke Pickups! We really don’t need no Broke CVTs. About all that’s left is Mazda CX5 and CX-50, which has a good engine, No CVT, and a good trans. Are it Junk and don’t even cost $50K.
The 2023 tacoma and earlier years is probably one of the best generations ever. The 6 and 4 cylinder are bullet proof. No way you can back up this claim.
I had a 2006 F-150 and honestly I may have gotten the cream of the crop when I got it... aside from maintenance and 1 rear seal leak on the rear axle Nothing was done. I recently sold it because I couldn't get in it anymore but when I sold it it was at 154,000 miles and still solid. I never had to replace the brakes every time I brought it in for service they would check them and every time they would say nope not yet
I had the overseas model of the Colorado badged as a 'Holden'. Used it for about 3 years with no issues whatsoever. Our versions were made in Malaysia and build quality was just fine. It would be a pity if US vehicles could not match up to their overseas counterparts.
I have 2 5.4 sitting in my carport. A 2002 Lincoln Blackwood that still rides and drives like a new truck and a 2009 F150 XLT that has never given me a minutes problem. I think you are the problem. These have had regular service and Mobil 1 synthetic. I also have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4.0 with absolutely no motor/transmission problems. Take care of a Ford and they will take care of you!
It was the 3 valve Triton engines that were trot line weight.....the first gens were pretty solid.. as for the V6 most use the 3.5 ecoboost which have issues of their own as well
Had a2019 ranger transmission module problems at 12000 complete ac replacement at 18000,48000,and another ac @ 105000 strike 3 traded off for a low mileage 2018 coyote powered f-150 20 m p g and alot more comfortable
The Ford 5.4 Triton V8 is a part of Ford's Modular V8 engine family, a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated eight-cylinder gasoline engine, which was first introduced in the 1997
Even the worst used trucks are selling at prices much higher than a roll of duck tape. I don’t really care to like or subscribe to this video. Incidentally I’ll bet any of the “good trucks” not mentioned would also not last very long if they got owners who didn’t believe in oil changes.
It's a shame the Colorado and Canyon are so junkie, They are really good looking trucks. Maybe the designers can go over to a company that builds decent trucks. That used to be Toyota but I'm not sure now..
3.5l Ecoboost with the 3.55 gears. No turbos. 3.73. Yet. Fuel mileage will drop. The 3.5l Ecoboost with the 36-gallon tank. Hwy. Truck by itself. With the 3.55 gears. No winds. 720 miles until empty. Easy 500 to 700 mile range. Winds as normal being anyones down fall.
Well, the good news is farmers got up to at least 2024 model John Deere tractors to pick from but after that or whenever they start production in Mexico, that’s when I would start boycotting them and not buying any of their products and if I was a farmer, I’d try to hold off as long as I could keep my old tractors and repair them.
you talk about a certain truck generation and then show a newer version of it. Please don't confuse people not in the know as they will now steer away from a vehicle that has resolved your issue presented (even though those are grossly exaggerated). Overall, this presentation has no value. Thanks for wasting my time (and anyone looking for real information).
Did not know Mercedes even sold an X class pickup... Did not know that Ford brought back the 5.4L Triton V8, thought they had 2.7L V6 turbos.... Would not touch GM or Ford pickups of the current day anyway. Do not think Nissan has much of a future anyway.
I heard the Honda Ridgeline and any Toyota pick up you buy it and then before the month is over you have to buy a whole brand new engine. I heard Honda and Toyota are the worst truck to build and buy on the planet.
The vast majority of modern late model trucks ( and cars) are a can of worms. And diesel trucks-OMG !emissions control / EGR have destroyed this class of truck and even heavy commercial ones too. And CAFE standards have outlived their usefulness a long time ago. F the government from EPA to EVs F it; keep your old stuff running guys and gals.
Another reason to keep my 1995 GMC pickup with over 343 thousand miles. Its easy and cheap to maintain.
Yep love my old Chevy vans!
That's a DAMM lie ,I got half million miles on it!!!!5.4 triton.
@@jefferykaplan4400 Really? I wish the newer trucks would last that long
F150 haven't used the 5.4 triton for a while now. It's 5.0 coyote v8 which is leaps and bounds more reliable. That 5.4 was the last gen
yeah the 5.4 went out in 2010. The 3.5 and 5.0 suffer from the cam phaser issue. Once the new part# is installed the engines have proven pretty reliable. But do change the oil.
Agreed this was a bad reference.
Your right I'm a Ford truck man and if I had a 5.4 litre I would use AMSOIL I never had any problems with it at all
Came here to make the same argument. The 5.0 is way more reliable than the 5.4. Which went out in 2010.

Neither has my wife's Ranger
@@steved1880 nor my wife's Ranger
I had my Chevy Colorado 2005 for 18 years. Very very few issues. Best auto I have ever own

My God, dude how old is your information. They quit using the 5.4 in the F150 in 2010. The minute I got to that I deleted this. What a joke.
Maybe the Woke Auto industry want to go Broke!
Ford has not put the 5.4 in F150 for multiple years. You are totally out of date. Very poor information.
I stopped watching after this was mentioned.
I have 1999 F250 5.4 2V and have not had any of the problems you mentioned, 241,000 original engine and trans. Ford doesn't use the 5.4 anymore.
I heard that the 3 valve version of the 5.4 was the issue. You lucked out.

Must be funded by Dodge 😂😂😂
Just Say "NO!!!!", to Turbo's!
With this poor out of date information, I would also say "Say no to drugs"
Honestly leaving a car or a truck dealership will only make me feel like losing my savings in a casino slot machine instead of hitting the lottery.

Don't forget every single Toyota tundras engine grenades at 20,000 miles lol

Wow, man, for real, are you serious? The 5.4 liter hasn't been in the F150 since 2011.

You didn't mentioned the canyon problems being a problem with the Colorado, and they're basically the same truck
It's a shame the Colorado and Canyon are so junkie, They are really good looking trucks. Maybe the designers can go over to a company that builds decent trucks. That used to be Toyota but I'm not sure now..
This is the most honest assessment of trucks I have ever seen.

Let's get real. Let's been gone a long time ago. That's 5.4.

The worse truck of all is the RAM and you did not mention it. Your program is as bad as the trucks mentioned. Give up you are the failure,
Have no interest in a Ram
TheyI haven't made a titan x.D or whatever? The thing's called for like a couple years now
Liar f150 is the best selling truck I love it so much
Add my 2019 Cummins ram to your list, the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned
HOLD UP‼️ MERCEDES HAS A TRUCK⁉️
Yeah Mercedes has a truck but I heard a junkyards looking for it

Yeah.... Mercedes doesn't really make trucks... LoL
The Ranger 10 speed in the next gen have pretty much faultless in Australia the only ones who complain drive different vehicles.
