    Tanto is one of my fav blade shapes. I never feel restricted on any style of cut, I get two points.. and you can sharpen them blind damn near. They also tend to be super strong and look cool too. Ironically, I’ve not had a Cold Steel Tanto so here I am.

    Definitely something new. Reminds me of a japanese sword in mini pocket format. Really nice looking blade shape and for the price it seems to be a good addition for the collection. The limited edition looks even nicer but 250$ is about 100 to mutch in my opinion.

      Totally agree, Love the materials better on the up coming Signature Knife. But the price for a made in Taiwan

    Liking tanto blades seems to make you a kind of oddball among knife collectors.
    Great to see someone just reviewing tantos......

    Thank you very much for this review! An interesting knife! The blade is very thick but is the rest of the construction, in your opinion, also as robust. How sturdy is this lock?

  • @Rizzy-ow6cc

    I don't know what to think of the oyabun. In any case, the liner is just cheap. I like the blade a lot, it's nice and thick. The handle could have been made nicer! But as I said, the liner is just crap !!!

      I don't what CS was thinking..Finn folder has a sturdy handle and is Triad locking and is cheaper. Buy more Finn KNIVES
      I guess.

  • @BladesRKing

    The limited edition is $255. Hope it’s worth it, honestly I’m not sure. I mean the materials alone aren’t worth that price and his signature I don’t think I worth a fortune, but what do I know. I pre-ordered one just for collector reasons and re-sell some years down the road.

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, I Agree. Over two hundred more for better materials is a really tough one!

    Everyone that reviews this knife says they think it is trash. As a vampire slayer, its better than a wooden stake. Here California they have banned ceramic knives and plastic CS practice knives too. The dems are importing more vampires so we need more sharp stuff.

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't say it's trash, It just could have been done a little better for a cold steel knife.

    Thanks for the vid. Liners look a bit thin compared to such a beefy blade. Does it slide into the pocket alright or are the scales too tacky?

    • @hulk239239
      @hulk239239 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      These kind of Cold Steel liner locks look so flimsy compared to the Ti-Lite's leaf spring lock where it folds over

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! The liner looks thin compared to the thick blade, I would say it's about average liner thickness for a knife it's size. The scales aren't too tacky, it's a stiff rubber so it goes in and out of the pocket pretty good.

    It looks like it closes easily, maybe too easily. When you close the blade does the blade stay in place well. I just don't hear or see it snapping into the closed position. Would hate for the blade to to come open from its rest too easily....Thanks

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blade very much stays in very well, it's detent is pretty strong. But is tuned very nicely for the flipper tab.

    • @_JimS
      @_JimS 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EDCTantoKnives Thanks👍🏻 Does the lock affect the closed position or is it just for the open position? Thanks in advance. I really like the thickness of the blade, seems to be built like a brick shit-house. It’s between this and the Recon1 folder, both have that thick blade.

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@_JimS No the lock is just for when the blade is opened, to prevent the liner for coming off the back of the blade.

    How does the safety lock work? How reliable is it?

    • @EDCTantoKnives
      @EDCTantoKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It slides forward to prevent the liner from coming off the back of the blade. A standard style liner lock, pretty reliable

  • @jeffkodiac
    @jeffkodiac 2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @laserbrain7774
    @laserbrain7774 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its obvious that Cold Steel does not like or respect linerlocks.Those liners are *WAY* too thin. They should just stick to their lane and stop trying to muscle in on other manufacturers fortes.

    What is the deal with this deep carry thing. Why such a big deal. I carry a buck 560 titanium in a belt sheath, and a CS hold out 3. And dont care what any thinks.

    Get rid of that lock ,thicken up the liner appropriate for the thickness of the blade, get rid of all the cheesy logos, nothing worst than getting a great blade with lame ass writing all over it, or a big ass hole in it , listening spyderco.
