Macron saw himself as the next president of europe (king even) then the french people said a big F U with the yellow jacket . He was elected by playing an old trick : he promoted controlled opposition then ran against them. He has 38% of people voting for him while "nothing" has 34% and is hated by a big majority of the french population (and he hate them in return). He view this conflict as a chance to play the hero but his handler don't let him do anything really meaningful.

We all this was coming, because we knew Russia would not accept NATO in Ukraine. Simple answer, Ukraine stayed neutral and became bridge between east and west. The dogmatic desire of Zelinski to sit at the table with NATO is a cause which has punished his country.

If I remember correctly it's a little more complex. Poroshenko pushed really hard for EU, Putin predicted NATO involvement immediately after it, then Zelensky "oooh yeah, we need in NATO"

Hi, this part about Russia's energy policy is pretty bullshit. Before the war countries such as Hungary or Slovakia had favorable prices for gas or oil from Russia. The countries are members of the EU and NATO, and they themselves decided to import energy from the West in order not to support the Russian economy. The problem is that the prices are higher now and it is very unpopular with the public. The Russians did not stop the energy. The countries themselves decided to stop taking them from Russia, and people are now paying for it with higher prices.
I also do not understand how the president of France can say that he wants to defeat Russia, which has a lot of nuclear weapons. A war against a nuclear power cannot be won. We finally need to start using our brains and end the war diplomatically as soon as possible.

The facts are that Hungary and Slovakia still importing natural gas and mineral oil / oil products from Russia to this day , it's not a secret ! Most of the Western European countries do the same thing , but with the help of India. India buys the chip Russian oil , refine it , then sells it on the European market making a good profit . The American LNG is available for countries with maritime ports at 3 to 4 times higher price than the Russian gas ! It is a good business for the US oil companies, lots of profits !

The nonsense about Ukrainians building some new lines of defence and standing up a 4th iteration of their army to man this defence is the great new cope in the west. For people like this, westerners or non-westerners identifying with the west in some way, the order that they knew and are invested in, either economically or mentally or both, is ending. Could Finland and Sweden have avoided joining NATO? I don't think so. There is no sovereign independent countries in Europe. Well.. perhaps some try to be independent, like Hungary. But the rest of Europe is pretty much are hostage to the US economic dominance. Countries will face sanctions if they will not happily follow the suit of sanctioning whoever is sanctioned by US. And perhaps it even made sense from security perspective. Finland already have been in a situation in between two powers getting geared for war in 1939 - dint work out very well. But, in the end, it does not mater for NATO vs Russia, as any serious open conflict will go nuclear, for that reason I have very big doubts that NATO troops would ever set foot in Ukraine, unless Russia would allow it. However, the bigger issue is the economy. This war has put a large rift between Europe and Russia. If the war ends in anything then a complete and catastrophic defeat of Russia (which is highly unlikely due to nuclear capabilities of the later), Europe's golden age of cheap resources is over. Taking into account the troubles of USD and growing tensions between US and China, threatening to void the patent laws things don't look too bright.

With Finland and Sweden joining NATO, they bring a grand total of about 57k active military combined. With the amount of additional land mass that now needs to be protected, I dont think this was a net positive for NATO in the short term. Lets face it, country's in the Balkans dont have much to offer in the way of a military force or a defensible position. Then you have Turkey, which may or may not attack Russia or provide troops. The delicate balance between Turkey and Greece, they may be fighting each other instead of Russia. The UK really dont have much of a fighting force either. Canada, they could not invade themselves with the amount of troops they have. You may notice a theme regarding NATO, they are probably at about 25% of the combat power they had in the 80s, if that. The key here is, will the US be able to deploy enough armor and aircraft fast enough if a war did break out all of a sudden? I doubt the US has the REFORGER type capability right now.
Having said that, I highly doubt Russia has the capability to project much power beyond their border, besides using nukes.

Germany only has 600 Taurus missiles, and only around a thousand seem to exist altogether. It's the only deep strike weapon Germany has, nothing else is planned until after 2050. They have a fancy "void counting" fuse, but the 500 km range is a bit weak, when Russia has Khinzal which reaches out four times as far, or Kaliber at five times. Even Iskander has 500km, and they get used often. If Russia gets hold of an undamaged Taurus, they might all be rendered useless. They have no inertial guidance but rely on GPS for terrain following and targeting.
I'm not surprised the Germans are not keen to start wasting them on this lost cause.

Re the lost Abrams: It’s important to identify the Ukrainian centre of gravity, which I think is the terrain.
At first glance Ukraine looks much like the rolling Fulda gap, the area between the Hesse-Thuringia border and Frankfurt am Main, and the North German Plain. these two corridors were the ideal route for Soviet Shock Armies to invade Europe. so much so that almost all modern day Main Battle Tank development was based upon these areas. the Abrams, the Challenger and the Leopard were all designed specifically for combat in these two areas.
The alluvial shale and soil structure of the Fulda Gap is strong enough to support the weight of very heavy Main Battle Tanks. The Leopard, Abrams and Challenger took advantage of this, and are very heavy.
    but Ukraine is very different.
At the heart of Ukraine’s agriculture is its highly fertile soil. Nearly a quarter of the world's most fertile soil, known as Chernozem, is located in Ukraine.
Almost all of it to the East of the Dnieper river.
Chernozem is black soil rich in organic matter called ‘humus,’ which is made up of decomposed plants. More than 65 percent of arable land in Ukraine is composed of Chernozem deposits, making it ideal for farming.
These soils are peat-like and soft. So soft that land erosion is a serious problem. every year around 500 million tons of soil are eroded.
The North German Plain is very different. It comprises predominantly coarse grained sands and silt that is capable of supporting heavy armour.
Most of the year the Ukraine rolling plains cannot support Main Battle Tanks, as they risk sinking in to the hull in the peat-like soil. In fact the only real opportunity is a brief window of opportunity between early February and late March, when the soil freezes down to a depth of around 2 feet. after that the thaw starts, and by May around 65mm of rain is falling each month, adding to the softness of the terrain.
Russia left its invasion of Ukraine too late to take advantage of this hard frozen ground. this invasion didn’t start until 24th February.
The Russians were using the Soviet/Russian doctrine of manoeuvre warfare, where fast moving armoured forces exploit gaps and weak points, bypassing areas of resistance. Artillery then subdues these areas of resistance using an escalating range of weapons from conventional explosives to chemical and tactical nuclear.
The initial stages of the invasion went well for Russia, and they almost encircled Kiev in the early days.
By late March the Russians found the ground had softened. This prevented exploitation of gaps and weaknesses, as tank crews became wary of being trapped in soft soil. This stopped the Russian advance.
A further problem developed when the Ukrainians noted that the Russian armour was staying on the main roads, as they tried to avoid soft ground. The Ukrainians began using portable anti armour weapons to destroy the front and rear tanks in ambush, allowing them to pick off the other trapped tanks at leisure.
The above means that the Ukrainian centre of gravity is its soft (and frequently muddy) terrain.
This is well known and recognised. It played havoc with Nazi Germany’s offensive towards Moscow in 1941. “The roads rapidly became nothing more than canals of bottomless mud, along which our vehicles could only advance at a snail’s pace and with great wear to the engines,” lamented Heinz Guderian, a German general, that October.
“The Ukrainian mud in spring has to be seen to be believed,” noted a British journalist during a Soviet offensive in 1944. “The whole country is swamped, and the roads are like rivers of mud, often two-feet deep.”
The Russians will have to either develop a new war fighting doctrine or limit armoured manoeuvre to a six week window each year.
The same restriction will apply to Ukrainian armour, especially the heavier tanks being delivered by Western nations. The Challenger and Abrams tanks all weigh 62.5 tons each. The Leopard is an incredible 67.5 tons.
A T72 is around 20 tons lighter, and even the new T90 is only 50 tons.
When considering combat in Germany these weights only influenced transport and bridging assets. In Ukraine they risk slowly sinking into the ground.

      @Thermopylae2007 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The last two mild winters seemed to have greatly diminished the window in which heavy armour could operate in Ukraine. Given the current weather conditions and time of year, I wonder how much the lines might change given that both sides would be fighting in the same soft terrain. If the Russians break through the main defensive belts and the Ukrainians haven't strong defenses to fall back to, I would think that the ground would be too wet to dig into, but on the other hand, how well might the Russians pursue them and how exposed might they be fighting under the same conditions?

    Hey Willy,
I have mostly avoided blatant pro-Ukrainian sources because in general, they seem to repeat whatever the mainstream narrative is. I have immense respect for you in being dedicated to the truth regardless of what you might want, it is that virtue of yours that now has me watching your videos the moment they drop. You, History Legends, Defense Politics Asia, along with The Military and Foreign Affairs Network (Seriously, you guys should collab with MFAN, he's been an amazing source and was a Tank Commander during the Gulf War. He seems to have insider information too)
