- How to fix P0406 Code: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High
What is the EGR Valve?
The EGR valve reduces emissions by allowing burnt exhaust gases to go back into the engine.
This lowers the engine combustion temperature, which reduces Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.
An EGR valve can be vacuum-controlled and electronically-controlled with many different designs.
Possible Causes of a P0406 Code
Bad EGR Valve (EGR Clogged or Passage Clogged)
Wiring (Open/Short)
Bad Sensor (differential pressure feedback (DPFE) sensor, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor)

Upload 6 hours ago. What incredible timing for me. I'm driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon Unlimited with the 3.8. I've been getting the high circuit code few a few years, but it only seems to turn on during long road trips and when it does start sending the P0406 code, I've always just replaced my PCV valve and that shuts the light off for me. I do not have to clear the code after I swap my PCV valve. I don't understand why I just know it works. So when I get this code I always replace my PCV valve. I am however going to replace my EGR valve soon as I finally have the time.
My question is, why does replacing a mechanical component with no electronics components clear the P0406 code? Shouldn't there still be a high circuit?
A DPFE or EGR sensor monitors the pressure in the system and reports it back to the computer. The computer sees an issue with the DPFE or EGR sensor that is monitoring the pressure.
Can you please help and tell me why my 2005 Chrysler 300c 5.7, I’ve replaced the egr value but now I’m getting a egr sensor circuit high still but is that why my vehicle has started to randomly stall when I come to a complete stop or when driving at low speed ?
Got tha same car lmk if you find out the problem having the same issues right now
