I don't heal much but when I do and they start staggering in, and tell them to group up and don't listen. I sit at spawn and do emotes. they end up grouping up lol
Being the support implies that you should have more game sense and don't tunnel vision as much as your teammates, so, if your support recommends grouping up, backing up, etc... then at least consider the option. Remember, your support is always watching you through the walls (creepy) and clearly sees your mistakes, so don't take certain commands in the wrong way, he's not trying to be the leader or something, he's only doing a part of his role, building an strategy where you can get the most out of you team (at least that's how it should be, then everything falls apart in solo q)
Usmle12 Support always thinks they're better than everyone else, eating up those "thanks" emotes and shrugging it off as they get all the votes for card. Support is the cancer of overwatch.
Support is the only reason why overwatch is actually some what playable some times. DPS only mains are full blown cancer. You need to at least be able to decently play tank/support if your team requires it
Happy 2017! This is a new series from Your Overwatch called "Your Coach" where we review submitted gameplays. In this first episode, we look at the demise of a team on Anubis. 2CP takes a ton of coordination (or luck) to win out on point B and in this video we'll discuss the errors of the team and possible swaps that could've gotten more value than the public-matchmaking-meta-approved 2-healer combo. Knowing that you MUST get speed boost value on Lucio is a huge information advantage. If you can't coordinate it, likely you'll simply have more impact on the team doing something else, even if it tilts the team by having only one healer. A tilted team with a chance to win is better than an approved team comp that sadly loses, in my eyes anyway. -F
Smitt and the general idea of vod reviews that isnt a thing oam created? Stop saying people are stealing things from people that they didn't even invent.
learning lucio step 1: if you want to move, speed boost. if you dont move, heal. step 2: amp when shit goes down step 3: boop step 4: ult when shit goes real, also speedboost since the temporary armor compensates for healing. but thats just what goes through my head when im lucio.
I disagree with the speedboost in step 4, if your team is low, after the shield goes away they will still be the same health, so it's dependant. always speeding is not a hardset rule
well you should ult before they are "almost dead"(start ulting when ur team gets below 130 hp, you should fall on the ground with the beat before they die) , then heal them to "fine" amount of health (above 130) and then speedboost so they can dodge stuff and things like d'va/symmetra/reaper/rein can be more effective
You gotta be able to use that Speed Boost somehow, especially since Heal Mode is nearly useless when you Sound Barrier. If you don't utilize it, you'd probably get more Healing Per Second with any other healer since Lucio's HPS isn't very good as it's more of an "aura effect."
VanFanel1980mx well, they were wrong. I have experienced that playing Lucio at lower part of ranks is extremely frustrating because nobody knows how to utilize his speed boost & Lucio can't frag as much unless he boops enemy to death. I'd rather use heroes like Zenyatta or Ana, who actually has potential to get frags (kills) in a 1v1 fight. P.S. Use voice chats, add friendly skilled players and party with them, watch as much Overwatch guide videos as you can.
Hayan I am probably a permanent resident of Silver tier (maybe is my true skill rank anyway), sometimes when I play Lucio I get some decent kills but it certainly hurts when people expect you to be a top notch healer AND be able to take care of yourself all alone.
Here's what I see when someone's the last to choose healer in comp: OMG MY TEAM SUCKS, I'll switch to DPS after two failed pushes and kill the whole team.
the most ironic thing is that they usually do the same amount - sometimes worse - of work as the dps when they switch. Most of the time it's just the support has crappy positioning
john west I play healer up to the point where my team expects me to heal everyone and get kills. then I swap to symettra. if you expect me to play support and kill them that is what I will play. otherwise protect the support.
Haha yess :-( And usually the problem is either 1 tank, no tank or people not grouping with the tank so dps aren't getting the kills. So people assume that more DPS will fix the problem lol
I stay healer because I know not everyone is good enough to play Mercy effectively. Even if we're losing, I take the loss because clearly what I'm doing isn't working, though the team could use some work most of the time.
Nice video, but I feel it's a bit deconstructed to be helpful. What I mean here is that it's 20 minutes long with no clear markers. You talk about it as a whole (and do it well) but for people who don't already know all that it's hard to follow and remember. Not trying to flame you, just giving some feedback ;) Thumbs up on the channel it's one of my favourites about Overwatch
No, thanks for the feedback. Maybe next time I'll try to segment sections more clearly. Issue is, in an actual game it plays fluidly, so I may have to toy with the chronological order or pacing in order to mold it into points. -F
Yes that would change the construction of the video into another style indeed. It depends what you want to go for. Either way they'll work imo. the information is sound and you know how to transmit it, just a question of optimization ;)
I like this. Flex picking for the sake of your team is where it's at. Too many times I see people get way too committed to their pick because they're "in the meta" or switch 50 times because they think they have to carry the team. There has to be a balance between playing whats "meta" and playing what's needed for a given situation.
By far one of my favorite videos so far. Team comp is very difficult to understand sometimes - especially when you don't understand what you could be doing or your team isn't communicating enough to switch.
This is gonna be a great series! I've seen plenty of other try a series like this but are a bit rude when they are critiquing the video (giggles, snickers, downright insulting, etc) and it leaves the impression that you can't submit a video without there being a possibility of being laughed at. This was so professional, clean and to the point! Can't wait to see more!
I like this format for several reasons. 1 explaining "basic" knowledge to the general community increasing the overall play. (Yes I realise not every player watches this but you get my point I hope). And secondly, infinite content! There's always going to be someone in need of coaching, or having a question about a certain map/hero/ability whatever... So a lot can be done with it. I forsee a growth in vieuws for this awesome channel.
This kind of breakdown is super helpful. The metagame thought exercise of 'what should X player flex to' depending on the enemy and friendly comp is probably the biggest problem that plagues competitive games, and more of these videos will help us learn to be quicker about figuring out flex picks.
Feels bad when your Dva is just a Genji/Tracer main in disguise. (I really like your slight twist on the coach video by giving overwall advice to everyone and not just the player in the video) Edit: Short version: Switching to a surprise counter hero works extremely well late game. long version: OMG BEST ADVICE. This is why I try and keep a big hero pool (even if its a shallow pool). I stole a 2-2 KOH game mid game 5 by switching to Reinhardt and playing it as DPS Reinhardt and charging the other team and swinging madly on every spawn in. I would usually hit the Lucio (there solo healer) somehow and get hammer shots on the Tracer and she had to back out of the fight and my team always cleaned up because of that during my death. I had tried all the tanks during the match, I think I started as Ana first game and said fuck it this team couldn't use nano boost. We came back down 0-2 and we were getting stomped in game 5. It was amazing, a charging Reinhardt fragged at least 1 person and just damaged there team (which was grouped up well), Instead of discording or keeping there health up I was able to lower the health of at least half the team and make them killable. I could of shielded but yet again my team wasn't good at grouping up. But they were good at bouncing on potential kills. It hurt the other team so much they pulled out a charging Reinhardt and I met him mid-charge to let him know what was up. I once lost a game on that there castle map because in the last 60 seconds the opposing team pulled out the attack symmetra and no one on my team could deal with it.
cazjuice im always surprised that people dont consider Reinhardt in Koth more often. even in all the chaos the shield will eat dmg along with his large life pool, and in the close quarters of the hill his hammer is pretty beefy.
ZombieNinjaPitbull The only bad thing is Rein in low ranks depends on other low rank players to carry team fights. And that's just something that doesn't really happen.
LOVE LOVE the new series "Your Coach". First vid out of the gate addressed EXACTLY the problem I have running solo Comp as a healer main...when to LEAVE healers lol! Please keep this great stuff coming, it literally jumpstarted my Comp career this season, helping me reach a new Season High in SOLO QUEUE!
Eric Martinez Why pick a hero that one of its ability is not useful when there are other option that is better for the situation? (like if you have the mechanical skill to left click and right click the shit out of pharrah and hog why dont you use McCree/Reaper)
i think that is a common misconception with torbjørn. his turret is supposed to complement his own damage and/or deter attackers, not be the main source of damage
Good video, really like this kind of thing! If I can request something I know I'd really like a video talking about when it's best to switch on to certain heroes if your losing i.e. if your team is getting destroyed by character X or character Y, then you should switch to character Z; or if your team is losing because they're not doing thing A or thing B, switch to character C. I think that's the kind of knowledge that's useful at all skill levels and in solo-queue and six-stack, but obviously I appreciate that it's a very difficult video to do and especially to keep timely in the event of patch changes, but it's something I'd really appreciate. Hope you guys continue to do well in the new year, I for one find it surprising that this channel and Overwatch itself aren't even one year old yet, it all feels like it's been around for so much longer, much kudos!
XFreedo I like how you used the example of a Lucio speedboost not getting value to show when it's appropriate to swap for something that would counter an opponents position. It's important to know when and why you should switch, because it helps other get a better sense of the game and come to know what actions you take can help or make a problem worse. For the uninitiated this video may not make the most sense but for someone of average skill this was pretty informative. Didn't think about the Zenyata as the single healer in that sense, being better at healing certain targets, for example. Thanks!
The main purpose of tanks is to help teams move into an objective unharmed, WInston is about creating space for your team to do so. allowing your team to move in
This is great. I really needed a video like this. There's so much I never think about like sustainability of a character vs healers on your team and so on. I've been a having a hard time with trying to get creative in losing fights, especially when the team isn't listening to me, or can't. This is particularly difficult with my lower level friends because sometimes I want them to change, but I just bite my tongue because I don't know what they should do sometimes.
You can title these videos "Overcoach" or something. That way we have an idea of what we will be watching, and it will make the video easier to find later.
The tips you gave are exactly how I've come to learn to play. Starting off my entire overwatch career at low silver, in under a month I developed a play style to switch to what I can carry with. If things in solo q aren't working then I switch to zarya, (I have a 80% win ratio as her, and I play mostly solo.) but when playing in a team I can play her just as well, but more team oriented. I like this new series
this was actually quite helpful. i am a lucio main, and i didnt think through the fact that speed boost is the only reason to pick him. i recognized that i overuse his healing aura, and have fixed that, making my time playing that much better. thank you
IMO DVA is better at providing protection for her team than winston is, hence why I think Dva is a real tank, although I'd always want a rein, except maybe on certain koth maps.
In some ways, yes, but it depends a lot on play style. D.Va needs to actively spend time on blocking damage, while Winston can simply push a button to block the next 600 damage. A D.Va focusing first on tanking can definitely tank more damage than a Winston doing the same, but it's hard to get a solo queue team in a formation (i.e. deathball) that maximises the benefit.
D.va does it better than Winston. Winston is a disruptor and great at fucking with snipers and healers. D.va can do the same, but she's still better in the front of a group fight than him. Rein instead of D.va or Winston would've probably won the game. Easier for the healers to heal, since he blocks a lot of damage thrown at your dps. But Platinum is just a fuckfest of players who play too passively and then they split up in the middle of a push. I'm glad I'm out of plat.
In Solo Q I use my Support ults before we even engage, because it is the only Option to get some people to push. Soundbarrier is the one Signal everyone gets, most of the time... :D Something else: In a Team Fight i mostly use Heal Boost and just Switch depending on the situation. Of course i use Speed Boost for engages, but once the Team is on the Spot i prefer healing even if it only means, I Survive longer, but i still have the feeling it increases the Survivability of the whole team.
Thank you so much for this i think this series is a good idea because i often find myself losing games even when i have a six man team due to incorrect information about heroes and their capabilities within a certain meta so yes please keep making these i think it will significantly help my understanding of the game
Would you rather us sending replays playing our main hero or someone we are not great at? I'm crap at Zarya so if I send in a replay playing Zarya, would you be able to tell me when to pop my shields to make more use of them or will you just focus on the team gameplay, the comp and the strats?
BoarhideGaming Specifically talking about team bubbles. Still don't recommend running into dragon with self bubble bc the damage is too much for the bubble.
I always pay attention to teammates in open spaces, with roadhog so frequently picked this season, it's easy to get charge by messing up his hook combo. Think about who the easiest target is on your team and keep an eye out for them, and remember if in a team fight you can use your own bubble to body block a teammate who's getting focused down if your ally bubble is on cooldown. but I'm sure YourOverwatch has some better pointers to give o7
I switched from Lucio to McCree to shit on a pharah that was destroying our team, literally every team fight she has her ult with another enemy ult to combo and after that we just let our 1 Ana heal us and it was a great decision
Why would he put a misspelled "Coach" in the title of a video? Would seem pretty weird. (His comment said Couch instead of coach before, But he edited it. So this comment is irrelevant now)
Glad to see this new series start off with healers, since alot of the time I'm stuck with that role (not that I mind hopping on Lucio, but being forced to play Mercy/Zenyatta just because I'm always solo Q isn't the best idea). Hopefully they'll be some solo Q specific episodes in the future, since a BIG reason I've been stuck in bronze hell is non-communicating teams doing their thing while I try to get team members to regroup etc.
matthew evans I play mostly solo too but I personally think no tank is a lot worse. Tanks help you get in the fight with taking the damage and not dying; yes, you're getting healing to stay alive but if they have tanks there is gonna be no way to get a good enough amount of picks to turn the fight your way. On the other side, if you have no healers but tanks, there is a chance some people can solo heal. They can rely on their self while as long as the DPS get picks the tanks can push in win the fight.
No Tank probably. A lot of the more used heroes have self heals or soldier even has a group heal. Plus on payload maps, the payload itself has a low level healing effect. Of course having just a Roadhog is as bad as having no tank as he has no way to protect other team members. Even Zarya can protect one other for very short periods of time.
Just got the game two weeks ago and try to pick supports whenever solo q lacks it (which is most of the time). I found this to be very helpful because I really don't know too much about the meta, so I learned how to play Lucio more effectively, and some other things too. Great video, would love to see more
Hanzo , Genji , Mccree and Widowmaker are the best healers since even though it says "no healers" on the little thingy on the right most people still prioriteze picking these I suppose to Lucio , Ana and Mercy.
I think this is going to be my favourite series of videos - I've been after this type of advice since I started playing - looking forward to more of these
One time in comp this guy was screaming at me for not healing him as Lucio (He was genji: surprise surprise!) So I switched to widow, and finished the game with gold kills. We lost, but it was worth it.
i disagree with the choice of reinhart in such unorganized team. reinhart is very easy to be killed with only a zen with him. if the group is already organized the existing team comp in this video could already be working long before the game ends. speed boost is nice with a lot of protection but lucio is very squishy in that mode. unorganized team will not care enough to protect a lucio in speed boost.
popeyeisgood I play Zenyatta as my main and (I play console) I get angry messages whenever I kill and tank hero. So I agree that Reindhart can be easily killed.
Freaking Awesome!!! And I'm glad that you're continuing the lesson in that, as Stylose once told me, "Meta =/= Betta" So many people still have it stuck in their head that there is literally only one way to play Overwatch. It is by far the biggest misconception of the game and needs to die as fast as "Bastion is OP" did.
I don't interact with videos like I should, but I have been watching you guys all year and have enjoyed every second of it. Keep up the good work you amazing scrubs.
this channel has taken away my blissful ignorance, making me thankful but angry whenever I do quick play with my friends and they insist a 1 tank, 1 healer, 4 DPS setup
The only difference is more communication. Both bad and good.i Went through a hundred levels and season 1 on PS4 and since then I played on PC. There are SOME instances where skill on PC dominate but for the most part it's around the same, just easier to aim on PC and easier to communicate since you can type
The Atheist Jesus dual zoned setting allows you to do both, meta is still same, Torb is still considered trash, Bastion is always countered easily, only difference is better aim with mouse nothing else
I've found that it seems to work slightly better if you elaborate with something along the lines of "Wait for respawns and push together. Wait at spawn or you *will* die. Kills mean nothing unless we wipe them all at once.", especially on Assault point B attack. It's often worth the 10 seconds it takes to type it out.
Some things i noticed (as another Lucio player): 1. Use the wallride! Instead of being on the ground with your team use the walls and pillars to zip around. You wont get hit by stray bullets aimed at your team and if you get good at it the enemy will have a hard time even finding you (good example is DSPStanky). You will also get the top-down perspective which is really useful as the shotcaller. 2. When you see a D.VA nuke go off like at 7:30, switch to speed; it might just give you and your teammates that extra boost needed to get into cover. 3. As Freedo said: prioritize speedboost more. Something i se alot of people including myself do as Lucio is switch to heals as soon as someone has taken any sort of damage. Don't do this, especially if you aren't the only support. The speedboost helps 4 other players apart from the one who took damage and may help them secure kills etc. Sometimes (as in the example with Genji in the video) switching to speed to let ppl retreat to safety is better than trying to heal them out of a tough spot.
I was placed gold last season when I sucked and first got overwatch, and since this season as well they give you the exact same rank regardless, Im still gold. I play with my platinum friend, so every game im with platinums and im doing pretty well. I havent tried but Im going to solo queue and win against some easy all-golds. Btw yes I main Reinhardt/Lucio not dps.
This is probably the best video i have seen from you guys! Really good and educational! Keep these kind of videos comming. I especially liked the part when you analysed the team comps and compared different picks. I would like to see more of that
Awesome video. Really great insight. If you get a chance to read this I suggest a few small tweaks. Please make a playlist on your channel that all these videos will go into. That way people who are new to the channel as well as veterans can go back and watch all the videos. Since you release so many videos these ones will get buried over time. Also Putting "Your Coach" in the title will make it easier to search as well. This channel is the only reason I still play overwatch. Ive gotten so much better by watching and implementing the techniques from here.
Adrian Vega the coach freedo series has coached some console gameplay. I'm not sure if any of them will ever make it to this channel, but Freedo himself has coached console gameplay.
The analysis of zenyatta as a squishy healer at around 10:30 is spot on. I ran Zenyatta for maybe 70 hours as solo healer in my IRL friend group, about 20 of those prior to his shield buff/discord nerf. Genji might not be a 'meta pick' right now, but much in the way that mercy can pocket pharah, Zenyatta can pocket flankers from a much greater distance with both harmony and discord
I loved the first episode of Your Coach, thought it was very useful. I thought that I knew a lot just because I was diamond (before I found the channel), but I have yet to watch one of your videos without learning something new, keep it up!
I'm actually surprised this person is plat. I guess understanding team fights/regrouping/not trickling in is enough to get out of gold, but her movement and positioning on Lucio feels atrocious to me. I don't think she makes herself hard to hit once and often seems to lead charges while trying to shot-call from the backlines (it's weird--like she's hyper passive in between fights then hyper aggressive during a push). This is not really a knock on her, but more questioning my own ability to not get out of plat--I might have to send in a replay lol. I think my aim/positioning/movement is far better, but I'm guessing I'm not as much of a team player (speaking when I play Lucio). Good vid, a bit long, could have been broken up a bit better, but I learned a lot and subbed. Thanks!
FSM Soleran Maybe start and/or find a community, that might work, I myself never really looked for one since I already got the golden weapons I wanted.
+R E V I V E D you realise I was using it sarcastically to mock you? But I suppose someone who is trying to "bait" people online is most likely rather uneducated.
Jack McGillion You seem to be rather agitated by my first comment which was not directed at you. I assume you are upset because you are underage as well. Rather than using this youtube app, please use the child version. You haven't even finished your education so please don't try to mock someone for their lack of education.
Gally: Im a lucio main who just hit masters only playing lucio in soloq. Ur doing pretty good! However, you can improve by using speed boost a LOT more. Also, I know wallriding can be intimidating, but if you really wanna improve, go into skirmishes (yes I know turn it on haha) and try and escape from the enemies for as long as possible, only wallriding and songswapping. This method of practice pushed my lucio out out high plat and up into masters, it's great for your wallriding and other movement mechanics! Best of luck!
Can we all at least agree grouping up probably would have helped more than anything else? Even if you are on a flanking character you wanna hit their back line as your team is coming in.. try to time it together. I can't tell you how many games I've played where you have like 7 minutes left and you lose because of trickle.
I really enjoyed this video, as an Ana and Lucio main, I think that this will actually help me, especially with knowing when to swap, as I find that I almost never swap off Ana
Agree with the Roadhog alt pick, but not so sure about the rein. I've tried to do just that, and like you suggested at the end of the video...Rein's benefit really only works if your team stay with you and make use your shield. The team in the video (plus most people I play with) was all over...some went right, some left. Roadhog still #1 choice, but I'd go Zarya over Rein and try to get some bubbles onto Winston as he dives in. Plus Zarya with a bit of charge can do some work on dva. Nice work on the video! Looking forward to more of these.
Hello guys, nice job with the channel. There's something that I have always wanted to discuss with you and with this video now on the table i think that its is the moment. First of all, I've been main healer (Ana, Zen & Lucio) all the time in Overwatch, and I feel that a good performance by me, is a necessary condition to win, but not an enough one. And by that i mean that, if i die my team most likely is going to loose, but if I perform well, I still need my team-mates to do their best to win. It has been discussed in this channel that the more skilled player in the team should be the DPS, because they are the "stars" and the ones who win the games, but i don't agree much with this. I keep playing games and games with a really good performance, great sustained healing, preventing my tanks or DPS players from dying but, in the end if they aren't doing anything, I'm going to loose the game. And that is frustrating for us healers, feeling that very few times we get the "reward" we think we deserve. I feel that the better way to rank up is mastering one DPS like Soldier or Genji in SoloQ/DuoQ, and that is pretty unfair. It is way more easy to carry games being DPS almost impossible to carry games playing Ana or Lucio. (unless you are a bloody master with them) What do you think? Perhaps is a good topic to discuss in a video with the comunity. Leave me a message with your thoughts okay? Thank you guys!
Love this video. Everything you said is exactly what my buddies and I face when paired with randos in comp. I love the honesty and straight forwardness you give in the video too. Especially comments about not using Lucio for speed boost. Bravo, keep them coming! I would love to see a video regarding combating stubborn teammates who continue to play the same shitty heroes. Like, what can we do to counter a shitty hanzo or genji on our team?
Well said Freedo, something I should definitely change about my own play. Need to get the experience to know what to swap to in order to make a team comp out of any random selection of heroes. Thanks for the great content keep it up :)
My dreams of Diamond are gone... I was, in the good times, 2750, but then we lost a few. "No big deal" I thought, "I can rise again. I'm only a few levels South." But then, the bad times. Loss after loss came to me. I thought we didn't have enough players but after seeing my almost all gold team pitted against diamonds again and again, my hope faded. Down to 2550. Then I thought, "Well, it can't get much worse, might as well play solo queue. I know a thing or too know thanks to channels like this. I think I can at least have fun." What a fool I was, you see the more you lose, the more ranking you lose. I lost one game at the top of my team and watched, in horror, as 50 rank points were shredded from my score. Game after game after game I watched, astonished, as I was pitted against Platinums and higher due to my rank, but was teamed with Golds due to my score. It was so low on the scale I was once again finding Hanzos! And now, after coming on top (almost) always of my team, and doing my best to balance out what my team needed and what I could do to carry them, I have lost about 5 games and my rank falls to 2347, 400 points from where I was and 700 points from my dream. Goodnight sweet Diamond. Maybe next time
That lucio waiting the whole game for the team to regroup and they didn't smh
Dagaming 101 that's sadly relatable :(
Things like that are why I switched mains to D.Va.
Dagaming 101 This happens all the time to me. Dunno if it's cuz I'm a support main. Feelsbadman
I don't heal much but when I do and they start staggering in, and tell them to group up and don't listen. I sit at spawn and do emotes. they end up grouping up lol
AS A LUCIO MAIN, I CAN RELATE.
I HATE it when my team has 7 dps
Flopp Mann nah man I hate it when I get 6 tanks in comp.
BroadMead XL
Flopp Mann
yeah me too....
.... wait
thats good cuz u get one more dps (p.s one group have 6 members not 7)
Refner Booi >the joke
>your head
Being the support implies that you should have more game sense and don't tunnel vision as much as your teammates, so, if your support recommends grouping up, backing up, etc... then at least consider the option. Remember, your support is always watching you through the walls (creepy) and clearly sees your mistakes, so don't take certain commands in the wrong way, he's not trying to be the leader or something, he's only doing a part of his role, building an strategy where you can get the most out of you team (at least that's how it should be, then everything falls apart in solo q)
Usmle12 I agree completely, I usually don't play support myself but you should always listen to your support, they're the ones that keep you alive
Usmle12 Support always thinks they're better than everyone else, eating up those "thanks" emotes and shrugging it off as they get all the votes for card. Support is the cancer of overwatch.
Do they know if I've been naughty or nice too? Dam.
They aren't better than everyone else. Just you, you DPS main scrub.
Your Overwatch Cool. Enjoying your vids whoever you are.
So youre basically copying OneAgainstMany and Lonehawk?
Smitt and the general idea of vod reviews that isnt a thing oam created? Stop saying people are stealing things from people that they didn't even invent.
Stelleny wat? i was defending him. next time read the comment.
whats content in the game
learning lucio
step 1: if you want to move, speed boost. if you dont move, heal.
step 2: amp when shit goes down
step 3: boop
step 4: ult when shit goes real, also speedboost since the temporary armor compensates for healing.
but thats just what goes through my head when im lucio.
Ultra Window I needed that, thank you
Very good points, thanks man. Still trying to learn him lol.
practice wallride, it makes everything much easier when u learn how to use it
I disagree with the speedboost in step 4, if your team is low, after the shield goes away they will still be the same health, so it's dependant. always speeding is not a hardset rule
well you should ult before they are "almost dead"(start ulting when ur team gets below 130 hp, you should fall on the ground with the beat before they die) , then heal them to "fine" amount of health (above 130) and then speedboost so they can dodge stuff and things like d'va/symmetra/reaper/rein can be more effective
If you're not using Lucio's speed, pick another healer (Lucio main btw)
Gingam a lot of people agree with you, based on your likes
JACK GOFF I'm giving my opinion, it may not be popular but that's what it is
Gingam how is he a healer then
JACK GOFF by pressing shift
He can heal, but his main strength is speed boost, especially after his heal nerfs
I get called out for even daring to use anything but heal mode with Lucio.
You gotta be able to use that Speed Boost somehow, especially since Heal Mode is nearly useless when you Sound Barrier. If you don't utilize it, you'd probably get more Healing Per Second with any other healer since Lucio's HPS isn't very good as it's more of an "aura effect."
You would be surprised, I have been blamed for a loss because I was using speed mode even when the situation calls for it.
Why would you try to please stupid people? If you realize they are stupid, and that what they desire is stupid.. ignore them.
The only real tank in this game is Reinhardt.
MisterSinister :D
Appreciate me! (thanks btw)
MisterSinister What do you mean DVa is balanced I went from 2471 to 3030 in one session with her for the first time seems balanced
DeBronnis Such balance.
Very unproblematic.
Much unnescesarry.
What about Zaryaaaaa :/
Roadhog misses the hook, feels Batman
Here's what I see when someone's the last to choose healer in comp: OMG MY TEAM SUCKS, I'll switch to DPS after two failed pushes and kill the whole team.
the most ironic thing is that they usually do the same amount - sometimes worse - of work as the dps when they switch. Most of the time it's just the support has crappy positioning
john west I play healer up to the point where my team expects me to heal everyone and get kills. then I swap to symettra. if you expect me to play support and kill them that is what I will play. otherwise protect the support.
Or Lucio, Zenyatta, Ana or Mercy can all get kills and heal. Just saying.
Not trying to flame you, just giving some feedback ;)
Thumbs up on the channel it's one of my favourites about Overwatch
No, thanks for the feedback. Maybe next time I'll try to segment sections more clearly. Issue is, in an actual game it plays fluidly, so I may have to toy with the chronological order or pacing in order to mold it into points. -F
Yes that would change the construction of the video into another style indeed. It depends what you want to go for. Either way they'll work imo. the information is sound and you know how to transmit it, just a question of optimization ;)
eZdAnTe I very much agree with this comment.
Its perfectly understandable.
This series is basically "roast my overwatch demoes"
Yeah, if you're not able to take constructive criticism.
His username is Phoenix Wrong, so he's not Wright of course.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
this video was really helpful
Trae Morris subaru doesn't mind dying anyways...
Usmle12 I was gonna say the same thing xd
This channel as helped me a LOT. I just bought overwatch a week ago and I'm slightly improving with every video I have watched! Thanks dudes.
I so feel this Lucio spamming "Group Up" while people trickle in.
Story of my life.
"drag them to victory kicking and screaming" is the best line I've heard from this channel in a while
I like this.
This was actually very helpful and informative. Lucio especially needs to get value out of his speed boost since they nerfed his healing a little.
Coach Hawk
Stylosa is trying it
Freedo is trying it
exact copy of coach hawk, but nice job
Rohini Thapliyal Except that coaching fans has existed for way longer than LoneHawk
ObitoVersace stylosa once told me RANK DOESNT MATTER
Freedo's been doing this for 3 months and he's DAMN good at it.
ObitoVersace what about OneAmongstMany?
I like this format for several reasons. 1 explaining "basic" knowledge to the general community increasing the overall play. (Yes I realise not every player watches this but you get my point I hope). And secondly, infinite content! There's always going to be someone in need of coaching, or having a question about a certain map/hero/ability whatever... So a lot can be done with it. I forsee a growth in vieuws for this awesome channel.
O ya, I forgot winston was a character in the game
This kind of breakdown is super helpful. The metagame thought exercise of 'what should X player flex to' depending on the enemy and friendly comp is probably the biggest problem that plagues competitive games, and more of these videos will help us learn to be quicker about figuring out flex picks.
Feels bad when your Dva is just a Genji/Tracer main in disguise.
(I really like your slight twist on the coach video by giving overwall advice to everyone and not just the player in the video)
Edit:
Short version: Switching to a surprise counter hero works extremely well late game.
long version:
OMG BEST ADVICE.
I once lost a game on that there castle map because in the last 60 seconds the opposing team pulled out the attack symmetra and no one on my team could deal with it.
cazjuice ikr
cazjuice im always surprised that people dont consider Reinhardt in Koth more often. even in all the chaos the shield will eat dmg along with his large life pool, and in the close quarters of the hill his hammer is pretty beefy.
ZombieNinjaPitbull The only bad thing is Rein in low ranks depends on other low rank players to carry team fights. And that's just something that doesn't really happen.

When your team is ungrateful is when you swap

LOVE LOVE the new series "Your Coach". First vid out of the gate addressed EXACTLY the problem I have running solo Comp as a healer main...when to LEAVE healers lol! Please keep this great stuff coming, it literally jumpstarted my Comp career this season, helping me reach a new Season High in SOLO QUEUE!
Would love a video on how to build a team around someone who chooses attack torb
It also distracts teams that push. "What the hell is hitting me from behind?"
Sometimes I wonder if my group up button is potentially broken to other people. Great vid, lots for helpful info :D
Thanks!
you can't honestly tell me Winston is a better main tank than d.va with his pathetic 800 HP shield that has a 13 second cooldown.
Judee Harvey winstons shield can make space, whereas defence matrix only zones one angle
Judee Harvey 600 hp
Judee Harvey keep believing that and you'll be stuck in gold ;(
The main purpose of tanks is to help teams move into an objective unharmed, WInston is about creating space for your team to do so. allowing your team to move in
Also Rein is a tank in the way of just taking damage. Winston is a tank in the way of drawing aggro and creating space for your team to move in.
This gave me cancer watching, been in this situation way too many times
this was actually quite helpful. i am a lucio main, and i didnt think through the fact that speed boost is the only reason to pick him. i recognized that i overuse his healing aura, and have fixed that, making my time playing that much better. thank you
IMO DVA is better at providing protection for her team than winston is, hence why I think Dva is a real tank, although I'd always want a rein, except maybe on certain koth maps.
Emil Lundberg True, but I play 6stack so it's a lot easier to utilise defense matrix.
Something else: In a Team Fight i mostly use Heal Boost and just Switch depending on the situation. Of course i use Speed Boost for engages, but once the Team is on the Spot i prefer healing even if it only means, I Survive longer, but i still have the feeling it increases the Survivability of the whole team.
Der Laberheld ikr Unless my team is in a group and i use speed boost i have to preuse my ult because they dont know ehat speed boost means.
ugh, I seldom have teammates that get aggressive when I activate sound barrier, even if they are already in a big team fight on the objective.
Focus on covering your teammates mistakes by utilizing bubbles instead of just random bubbles to get charge.
+Nubbecl Although it doesn't hurt to quickly pop the barrier on and jump in a Hanzo ult for a second to get that sweet, sweet charge
BoarhideGaming Specifically talking about team bubbles. Still don't recommend running into dragon with self bubble bc the damage is too much for the bubble.
Zondayyy jump in on ults like hanzos or dvas with your barrier or a teammate in range of it - it can save them and give you charge! 😉
This is the best video you guys have uploaded. Learned more from this then any other video. Please keep doing these.
I switched from Lucio to McCree to shit on a pharah that was destroying our team, literally every team fight she has her ult with another enemy ult to combo and after that we just let our 1 Ana heal us and it was a great decision
Dori Toes questioning why your other dps didn't go hit scan/ couldn't hit a pharah but nice
Logical because soloq rocks lol
I love it when you say things that inspire/motivate you, or not to flame others, because I think it actually helps. Atleast it helps for me
Maybe you should put "your coach" in the title?
Why would he put a misspelled "Coach" in the title of a video? Would seem pretty weird.
(His comment said Couch instead of coach before, But he edited it. So this comment is irrelevant now)
because it would be funny since it's a joke. i think
*****
You really should stay out of discussions that are a month old.
As someone who plays by himself alot and can't coordinate with his team, i was wondering what's worse, no healer or no tank?
No tank is worse, in my opinion.
matthew evans I play mostly solo too but I personally think no tank is a lot worse. They can rely on their self while as long as the DPS get picks the tanks can push in win the fight.
matthew evans no tanks by far. at least some heroes will be able to heal themselves
Because of self heal heroes/76, no healer is the best if you have to choose.
Just got the game two weeks ago and try to pick supports whenever solo q lacks it (which is most of the time). I found this to be very helpful because I really don't know too much about the meta, so I learned how to play Lucio more effectively, and some other things too. Great video, would love to see more
For real though for my money Soldier 76 is the best healer.
Big Yellow best healer in the game pharah hands down
That's true her E knocks enimies away from health packs so she's a great healer but for real though Junkrat is a great healer.
Hanzo , Genji , Mccree and Widowmaker are the best healers since even though it says "no healers" on the little thingy on the right most people still prioriteze picking these I suppose to Lucio , Ana and Mercy.
This game is so unbalanced how is Ana supposed to function in a metagame dominated by healers like Torbjorn's turret and pilot D.Va
I think this is going to be my favourite series of videos - I've been after this type of advice since I started playing - looking forward to more of these
One time in comp this guy was screaming at me for not healing him as Lucio (He was genji: surprise surprise!) So I switched to widow, and finished the game with gold kills. We lost, but it was worth it.
this is simply the best overwatch video I have ever seen. Great start for 2017 keep it up
Héliodore Specht Yea and its the most unoriginal to.
Stelleny why? Freedo has been doing this for a long time now and now every channel has a series like this
i disagree with the choice of reinhart in such unorganized team. reinhart is very easy to be killed with only a zen with him. if the group is already organized the existing team comp in this video could already be working long before the game ends.
speed boost is nice with a lot of protection but lucio is very squishy in that mode. unorganized team will not care enough to protect a lucio in speed boost.
popeyeisgood I play Zenyatta as my main and (I play console) I get angry messages whenever I kill and tank hero. So I agree that Reindhart can be easily killed.
Freaking Awesome!!!
And I'm glad that you're continuing the lesson in that, as Stylose once told me, "Meta =/= Betta"
So many people still have it stuck in their head that there is literally only one way to play Overwatch. It is by far the biggest misconception of the game and needs to die as fast as "Bastion is OP" did.
11 minutes out and already 32 comments, nobody has even watched the whole thing yet lol
I don't interact with videos like I should, but I have been watching you guys all year and have enjoyed every second of it. Keep up the good work you amazing scrubs.
Just enjoy, that's all you have to do! =)
Seems like lucio's shift button is broken ?
this channel has taken away my blissful ignorance, making me thankful but angry whenever I do quick play with my friends and they insist a 1 tank, 1 healer, 4 DPS setup
And people say console players can't play, if this is how Plat looks like on PC then I have to say there is not much difference in skill
The only difference is more communication. Both bad and good.i Went through a hundred levels and season 1 on PS4 and since then I played on PC. There are SOME instances where skill on PC dominate but for the most part it's around the same, just easier to aim on PC and easier to communicate since you can type
NS Blaze the only difference is aim, game sense is the same
In other words, less aim-based heroes are amazing on console, as people can't flick, if they use flick settings, they can't track.
The Atheist Jesus with dual-zone you can do both.
The Atheist Jesus dual zoned setting allows you to do both, meta is still same, Torb is still considered trash, Bastion is always countered easily, only difference is better aim with mouse nothing else
Nice video freedo, The part about staying behind tanks regardless of where they should be helped me out alot. Keep it up
How long do I have to spam group up for you to stop dying?-Every single person that knows how to play the game in a rank lower than master
Enlil 5 Ikr
Emil Lundberg Unless your team thinks in a 1v6 they will be able to get 2 kills and of they do they say push up when your team is still waiting.
Lmao I tell people to group up in QP and the reaper just looks straight and keeps walking but its not Comp but that was funny
Sometimes (as in the example with Genji in the video) switching to speed to let ppl retreat to safety is better than trying to heal them out of a tough spot.
disagree on picking rein in this comp. the team is too spread up, they are likely not going to stay behind rein shield.
Yes! This is exactly the type of analysis I want to see! Great job and I can't wait for more!
I hate Gold. Maximum amount of people who communicate is 3, No one plays healer, people think they are pro Hanzos and Widowmakers and won't switch
I rarely see that in Gold... I usually get 2/2/2 comps against 2/2/2s and sometimes triple tank.
This is probably the best video i have seen from you guys! Really good and educational! Keep these kind of videos comming. I especially liked the part when you analysed the team comps and compared different picks. I would like to see more of that
But... but... Zenyatta is my main.
Don't refuse to play anything but your main even if it's a support/healer
2FaceTobi
but ... but ....
I have gold elims XD
Play what you're good at.
I'd rather play 6 good DPS than quad tank with no one who plays tanks.
Spunky McGoo There's always someone who can play at least a decent healer
You haven't played solo 3v3 before :p
Awesome video. Really great insight. If you get a chance to read this I suggest a few small tweaks. Please make a playlist on your channel that all these videos will go into. That way people who are new to the channel as well as veterans can go back and watch all the videos. Since you release so many videos these ones will get buried over time. Also Putting "Your Coach" in the title will make it easier to search as well. This channel is the only reason I still play overwatch. Ive gotten so much better by watching and implementing the techniques from here.
Are you reviewing Pc only?
Adrian Vega yes they do they tried a pc vs ps4 comparison and it made me cringe. and I play on xbox.
Adrian Vega the coach freedo series has coached some console gameplay. I'm not sure if any of them will ever make it to this channel, but Freedo himself has coached console gameplay.
I wish every player saw all videos from this channel :'(
but zybrads does the 3 support meta and wins each time.
The analysis of zenyatta as a squishy healer at around 10:30 is spot on. I ran Zenyatta for maybe 70 hours as solo healer in my IRL friend group, about 20 of those prior to his shield buff/discord nerf.
Genji might not be a 'meta pick' right now, but much in the way that mercy can pocket pharah, Zenyatta can pocket flankers from a much greater distance with both harmony and discord
doomfist me freedo
I loved the first episode of Your Coach, thought it was very useful. I thought that I knew a lot just because I was diamond (before I found the channel), but I have yet to watch one of your videos without learning something new, keep it up!
Too many overwatch coaches!
The more there are the better people can get that's like asking to remove a basic tutorial.
I wish team fortress 2 had that problem.
Thanks!
Is there a place for console players to get together, because I'm struggling in soloQ
FSM Soleran You obviously mean PS4 ;)?
legotech300 yes...
legotech300 I'm thinking maybe an app or a forum somewhere?
FSM Soleran Maybe start and/or find a community, that might work, I myself never really looked for one since I already got the golden weapons I wanted.
The youroverwatch discord has a place for that ;)

Thanks for all your videos in 2016! Your channel was and remains awesome!!!
lol I play console and my movement is way better than this
Jevs Fig Fuck off little kid. Stop liking your own comment as well.
+R E V I V E D edgy af
+R E V I V E D you realise I was using it sarcastically to mock you? But I suppose someone who is trying to "bait" people online is most likely rather uneducated.
Jack McGillion You seem to be rather agitated by my first comment which was not directed at you. I assume you are upset because you are underage as well. Rather than using this youtube app, please use the child version. You haven't even finished your education so please don't try to mock someone for their lack of education.
Jack McGillion You really had the courage to insult me after making Cod montages? Haha, please.
Gally:
Im a lucio main who just hit masters only playing lucio in soloq.
New Years Day and the YO team still putting in work.
I love this new series, especially this beginning episode because I main healers and often wrestle with this issue.
Some of the best advice I've heard in a while! Great job analyzing, I couldn't agree more.
I find this more informative than anything else and that's amazing
Great video! This gives me a somewhat better understanding of how to work around unknowing players at lower ranks. I'd love to see more of these
I like the idea of more videos like this. Like Freedos pro breakdowns but with solo queue relevance. Looking forward to seeing more.
Looking forward to more of these.
liked it a lot, goes very in depth, and it focusses on getting to be a better player already assuming personal skills are decent.
Like the idea of using one battle sample to do tons of analyse ^^, definitely will support your coach series in the future keep up :)
(unless you are a bloody master with them)
What do you think? Perhaps is a good topic to discuss in a video with the comunity. Leave me a message with your thoughts okay? Thank you guys!
Love this video. Everything you said is exactly what my buddies and I face when paired with randos in comp. I love the honesty and straight forwardness you give in the video too. Especially comments about not using Lucio for speed boost. Bravo, keep them coming! I would love to see a video regarding combating stubborn teammates who continue to play the same shitty heroes. Like, what can we do to counter a shitty hanzo or genji on our team?
Yaaaaaas this is gonna be the best series every!!!
Quite nice! I have been failing at playing Lucio but had lots of success on Zen and Granny - now I know why! Thanks!
blew my mind. Thank you for making me see the game in a new light.
Really good video honestly extremely helpful.
