Playing a Dive Composition in Overwatch is one of the most fun and exciting ways to play the game, but also one of the more skill-dependent play styles. Pro players, especially in Korea are currently running dive to great effect when the enemy team can't stop it. The pace and skill you can impose on your enemy can be overwhelming, but it requires very precise engages with pinpoint initiation. In this video, FREEDO breaks down the dive playstyle, to dissect how pro teams coordinate to succeed without a Reinhardt, playing in a dive playstyle. Let us know what oyu guys think and be sure to drop a Like & Subscribe if you enjoyed!

The tactics sound fun and challenging. But as a solo que player, I just can't imagine trying to do this strategy in solo que.

it is clearly your role to be an advisor, great job solty! clap clap clap... anyway.... I've been playing dive comp a lot lately. I play mostly with a constant 6 stack , and what we do in maps with chokes is working very well . we just get pharaa tracer genji , only tank Winston , zen and lucio. and we speed boost into them, being that no one needs to use the gate itself. if we manage to focus the squishy targets on the jump itself (which happens quite more times than not) it works amazingly fast. at least at 6 stack diamond/master ranks. its sort of a glass cannon start , after first point we need to switch. dunno if many teams do it, I know I really enjoy it :P

Freedo-- was just about to comment that you missed a huge part of the reaper 'spin to win play', but when I replayed it to get the time codes I saw your editor note! :P That was a KILLER Winston bubble! (@ 13 minutes in if any of you are wondering)

    • @xFREEEDO
      @xFREEEDO 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Earthshatter would've cc'd Reaper, but the damage was already done, Ana was dead, fight was lost - but yeah, playing Dive comp one MAJOR weakness is earthshatter, as it charges fast and Winston's bubble only lasts a few seconds in a fight ... Because of this, the placement on top of the Rein at the key moments save fights ... Alternatively, you kinda have to just not fight in a group together in order to avoid earthshatter, as its unlikely Winston can save you most times.

    • @_aideyn
      @_aideyn 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I guess my appreciation of it is more because of the timing of it, since it does only last for so long, and Earth shatter's wind up always feels so fast when I'm up against it personally.
Rewatching it, I see your point, but I'd also maybe argue that it was still pretty key in their overall success, since the attacking team had spawn advantage, and not losing their Reaper to that earth shatter meant they could take the next team fight at full strength.

Awesome video! One of the biggest complaints most people have about competitive play is how confusing it can be in Overwatch. Everything happens at lightning speed. It's really informative and interesting to break it down piece by piece in slow motion and alleviates some of that confusion, I think. Way to go!

It feels like a skill in and of itself to be able to read what's going on because of the sheer speed of the plays. Hopefully it will be easier to read if more editing comes out when rewatching comp footage later down the line instead of being forced to watch what perspectives were live streamed at the time.

Preach, also Freedo's approach to "how many bits of information can I pack in one second of talk time" doesn't help either.
Reconsider one example he gives and he's already 2 steps further into his analysis. Jesus, slow down a little.

Chainsmokers' "Roses," adapted for Overwatch (specifically in reference to a stream a few months back during which Freedo was looking for the Lucio of his dreams).
    Taking over, it's so typical
You already know that my beats are fire.
His wrists were aglow, just watch his hands roam
His medals were gold, and it ranked him higher
Oh I'll be a DJ, I'll be your favorite thing
    We could run Lucio.
Get drunk on the speed life, I'll boost you to Pharah-dise
    I can be your Lucio.
Deep in Nepal, I can free you
Take you back to a Rein only we knew
    Fly away
We could take the point with no trickle
Nano a Genji and speed boost to the back line
    Pharah-way.
    I will be your Lucio.
    I will be your Lucio.

Dive comps are fun and exciting, but nearly impossible when solo queuing. The one time it was suggest in a matchmaking game, we only won because we had that slight coordination over the other team. It wasn't a well orchestrated run, just a happy accident.

The next thing I guess I want to see (if it's possible) is a different type of meta other than dive and tank. A third meta, so that teams have little more variety other than the two. I know there isn't a third meta (That I know of) but I hope there will be another one. Maybe something about wall blocking with Mei, Torb and Symmetra.

Dive comps are a lot of fun, but too punishing to play because of how fast you can lose players and I think it is because of Winston barrier being too weak and not giving enough time to your dps so shine (even pro players struggle)

Very interesting watching in in slow motion. Who.R.U. and Ryujehong miss several times what I would have thought to be something pros would never miss, interesting to see that even they don't hit every shot in the heat of the moment.

Hey guys, I really loved this TH-cam channel and it gave me so much useful information about the game. I have a request but I don't know where should I put the comment so I will put them both here and at the comment section of your latest video. I remember you guys did a video talking about how to use CSGO as a tool to train Mccree aiming and I really loved that video. May you guys please to a same type of video about how to use CSGO to train widowmaker? I'm not familiar with CSGO at all. Please.

Would a good sombra player fit into this comp?

This is really cool! But it's fairly inaccessible to a casual player. Even as a casual player, I'd like to be able to recognize when someone who knows what they're doing is trying to do something. Any chance we could get a "like I'm five" video about formations, how they work, and how to help?

Hey Your Overwatch. Do you think that with Bastion's new buffs and changes, his 35% damage reduction in sentry mode and healing while moving and through damage, could make him viable on a dive comp. While he is slower, he doesn't need to be pocketed and protected like he used to. Do you feel he could be viable (at least in lower levels) in a Dive Comp?

I think everybody should try this dive comp, I almost hit gm running it: Winston genji tracer Lucio and pharah pocket mercy- no one gets left in the dust and if you focus you kill fast enough to where you don't need another tank, it is most effective on console however :(

Is it even worth trying to run this in matchmaking? with how much coordination it requires?

I'm so slow but to lazy to Google...what's a dive Comp? Is it like just using Genji and Tracer for DPs?

dive comp is in the video? He even explains it-- but they got their own video doing a full break down of dive comp if you go onto the channel and search dive comp. It about high mobility team

Henbot OH OH OK! Now I get it now. Sorry I play silver division on Overwatch and I'm just trying to learn new ways to get out of Silver. but I appreciate the advice. I can imagine dive comps in securing the pay load or capture the objective modes.

this will definitely get lost in the comments but i feel many content reviewers do not cater to the left hand community with tips and tricks. it is actually very simple and would make a great video. content could include switching binds over to the number pad and etc... either way i have found no guide to play overwatch for lefties like myself. regular tips and tricks still work but what im getting at is to broaden the horizon and maybe give a few tips our way. thanks and ill hope for a response

What kind of team comp/strategy works best in solo que platinum level play where no one knows how to successfully execute a dive comp or a triple tank comp. Also I'm on console so factor in the fact that maybe one other player will be in team chat if I'm lucky
