I just ordered hero10 and found out it likes to overheat too anyways thanks for video some good info at least for the ones like me that haven’t used a GoPro. Good thing bringing up to check the battery too.
Good job and thanks.
Thank you! I think someone commented about some settings to change that would help it run cooler but I've never had a chance to try
Good video man thank you much appreciated I’m a truck driver and i needed a dash cam so i was looking for a good one but i had this laying around. I’m gonna try to put defrost on for cooling it down hopefully it works
I still use mine every day but it still gets hot and cuts off but running on defrost really helps. it's too convenient to use and love the app. Good luck with yours and thank you for the comment!
C Farmer we will see how it works over here in SoCal Local work.
I love the app as well super easy to navigate
Yes sir, let me know how it works out, if you have heat issues or find a better way to keep it cool
Will do. The only problem I have so far is formatting the sd card my GoPro kept saying error for SD card
I have to format mine in a laptop or desktop from time to time. If it gets glitchy that usually fixes mine
Man , we need to get us a gopro, thanks for the great review!
Love mine, wish it didn't get so hot tho
Yeah it’s a great video and you’re right I have a go pro as well but it’s sure a good camera to keep
I find I'm not using it as much anymore but it does a great job when i do
@@CFarmer thanks for texting back can’t wait for more videos 😎
Since I run an dedicated dashcam already, I want to use my Hero 7 Black to stream the footage, via the HDMI cable to the monitors on my tour bus. Not sure if it is going to work yet. I have been running a separate Mini 805P dashcam that has a HDMI port for that & it works great and the passengers love it. I changed bus companies & now I cannot find another Mini 805P dashcam that has HDMI out, so going to give my GoPro a try. Since I won't have a SD card in it, hoping it won't build heat & shut off.
Thanks for the video.
That's cool. In another comment someone told me if I turn the resolution down it would help a lot with the heat but I haven't tried it yet
Nice video, appreciate it.
I haven't tried it but i got a comment that 1080p @ 60fps would cool it down a lot. Thank you for your comment!
When you say you forget to shut it off over the weekend and it was still running how does that work with card space? How far back would you be able to go watch when you picked it up on Monday?
It hold around 4 hours if I remember correctly. I bought a dash cam and have been using it for a couple of months now. Miss the quality of the go pro though
@@CFarmer thanks, so would it record 4 hours and then start over and record over the previous four hour's
I'm just wondering if that's how it works
Yes, it would loop about 4 hours. The bad part is I caint remember what size card I had in it
So I just got a hero 10 to use as a dash cam. Mine overheat yesterday after about 10 minutes. Have you tried using it without the battery and just plugged in to a power source ? I'm wondering if hardwiring it without a battery will help
I never tried without the battery but somewhere in the comments someone told me the video settings could cause it to overheat. I wanted to adjust my video settings down and see if it helped but i got a dedicated dash cam and let it slip my mind
Just purchased a Hero 9 and it gets extremely hot when I recorded 4k and 5k
i would just use 1080p 60fps
Would that cool it down?
@@CFarmer yes, you should use 1080p and 240 for that extra smoothness
I've heard that andI'm going to give it a try, thank you!
How was it recording for 10 days ? The Ss card will fill up and not record ???
It records on a loop, bigger sd card bigger loop
You can choose to "loop" it. And it'll won't fill up your SD no matter how long you're recording for
Perhaps, Gopros are better for rear cameras, not as your main one if you're worried about overheating it. What do you think? Most dashcams that come with rear cameras are very trash.
I bought a Rove dash cam that's been working pretty good. I was told to change my settings and it would run cooler. Love the gopro but don't use it much anymore
pull the battery out and run usb, you wont overheat
I'm gong to try that, i have a dedicated dash cam now that does a good job but i miss using the go pro
Does this work? Mine overheat yesterday and I'm looking to hardwire it but don't wanna waste money if it's not gonna solve the problem
I didn't have a chance to try myself
go pros are only for short videos,, I use my gopro6 as dash cam and when it gets hot it shuts off , or it freezes a lot !!👎
True, I like the video quality and the app. Wished gopro would come out with a dedicated dash cam that would work with the app and stay cool
