Yes! I have never heard anything like Karen's voice.Over 50 years since Karen sang to us on the radio for the first time.The emotion in her voice is unmatched by others.She made us feel every note she sang.Her vocal range, depth in her voice and never going off key still amazes me!Miss her so much!

Hard to believe how young she is here. Even then, she sucks you right into the song. Love it!!! She is the only artist that has made me cry. I think she was an absolutely beautiful young lady with that special gift. Gone too soon for sure.

From the hidden gem of a debut LP Ticket to Ride. I love her younger earnest voice and phrasing. It didn’t come across as MOR/Adult Contemp stuff. It was just well-crafted music.

I was just watching the, Karen Carpenter story, and this song was played. I remember I used to live this. My how we forget that.

I was born when she passed away.. same year.. we all lost such a great voice and legend.. she was my idol growing up.. i love everything she had done.. such a graet voice. . we lost a great women with a powerful voice thats for sure.. but she still lives on in us :) Btw it his girlfriend writing this..
Whenever I hear Karen sing, I remember those few times in my life when I sat and talked to a lady and the magic showed up. That feeling of a connection that is almost spiritual in nature. I would have loved to spent an hour or so with Karen, just sharing thoughts and dreams. I love you Karen, now and always.

+mstrunn - Same here, but I think all of us a teenagers in the 70's feel as if their music wasn't hip enough, and you were always pick on if you said you liked their music. Besides I have come to realize that their music is time timeless and so much better than anything on the radio nowadays.
It's funny Arthur; the ones who mocked their music had their albums @ home, :) Just a heads up, PBS is going to air the 74 Carpenters @ the Boston Pops late spring, the vid is on YT but the quality is not great, this will be digitally enhanced and KC was awesome and looked radiant.

But she had a long list of things that a man had to have including having more money than her so she knew he wouldn't have to depend on her. The problem with that is that it leaves out a lot of good men

It was 30 years ago Today that we lost one of the most wonderful spirits the world has ever seen & heard, her name was Karen (Carpenter.) I could never express in words what Karen personally meant to me & to this day she still has a profound effect on my Life & always will. I Love You Karen , Love Vic

@Christine Angel Orquillas While the Show was entertaining it was not that factual, Richard controlled much of it and the cast in interviews said they felt handcuffed and could not freely show the entire story, this is also recorded in the best selling book" Little Girl Blue" I suggest you order it if interested in reading the whole story.

I believe this was one of the two early Carpenters recordings -- "Eve" may have been the other -- on which Karen played the bass guitar in the studio recording. She apparently never pursued it further, since she had enough to do with being lead singer and drummer. She was loaded with special talent.
+G. C. Smith Yep this is from the first album in '69 called Ticket to Ride. She was kind of told to quit playing drums and focus on the singing, and since they were so perfectionist in the studio it would be so much extra work on top of the singing, so they hired drummers later on. But her first love was playing the drums.
