I graduated 8th grade in the spring of 1972. We've Only Just Begun was the song played at our graduation ceremony. It's now February 2022 and I'll be 65 years old in December and plan on retiring at the end of this year. It brings tears to my eyes listening to this 50 years later wondering how 50 years have come and gone.

I Remember being in diapers when I first heard this song on the radio and it made me cry. Now all these years later it still makes me cry and I'm in adult diapers now.
The Carpenters made this look so easy and yet were incredibly focused on beautiful yet controlled performances. There was nothing superficial or fake about the Carpenters and their musical dedication and integrity was quite impressive to hear.

I don't believe in any religion but that voice was God given.
What a singer. So pure and natural in her delivery, with zero unnecessary melismas, belts and embellishments in her singing. Throughout the performance she was not even trying to do what she did best, and even then she still outsang all of us mortals :)

CARPENTERS plain & simple were GIFTED & ANOINTED & ORDAINED by God to impact a Nation & Society at a time of Dark Evil Turmoil dividing America > CARPENTERS Shot Up like a METEOR by God's Hand (15 Mega Hits & 20+M Sales in just 1st 4 yrs.) still a Record today 2021 & they needed to Recognize that Divine Gift & God's Agenda & Seek God's Presence to GUIDE them > Not HOLLYWOOD guiding them.
Whitney was like that too. All her protégés had their loooooong runs and unnecessary belts. Whitney just opened her mouth. I always respected her for that. God's gifts don't need to prove themselves; the ones that wish they were, do.

I don't think she had perfect pitch - she hits the notes but slides a little. Her voice was amazing - but she had such skill in using it so beautifully. Her lead singing is awesome, but listen to her and Richard harmonizing on his vocal arrangements -THAT will make you cry.

This song was the theme song of my sister's wedding I was only 15 yr.old. I love the Carpenters. She helped to bring eating disorders to the fore front. RIP Karen.

Graduated High School from a small town in 1972, and The Carpenters came and performed there in my Senior year. It was near Christmas, and these two songs and Merry Christmas, Darling captured all the feelings a young teenager “in love” could have. I’ll never forget her voice, and his work on the keyboard. They were genuinely warm and kind.

I Remember being in diapers when I first heard this song on the radio and it made me cry. Now all these years later it still makes me cry and I'm in adult diapers now.

The Carpenters made this look so easy and yet were incredibly focused on beautiful yet controlled performances. There was nothing superficial or fake about the Carpenters and their musical dedication and integrity was quite impressive to hear.
I imagine this is how the angels in heaven will sound....truly beautiful ❤
