I had the wonderful pleasure to meet Karen in July 1980 in Downey California. My wife's Aunt and Uncle lived two blocks from her. My wife's two twin cousins knew Karen from school. Karen was so sweet to me, we had a short but a great visit. She treated me as if we had known each other all of our lives. I will never forget that special time with her. She was my special friend. I miss her every day. Thank you Karen.

Everytime i hear her voice i always think, omg that voice, im filled with envy and happiness at the same time! It also saddens me that music today is half assed, you dont even have to be able to sing, yet Karen and Richard struggled to get to the top, at least nobody in the charts today has the talent of these two and i dont think anyone ever will, thats why it makes me even more sad that Karen was taken before her time :(

Of course-- it is from Ticket to Ride. I just bought this CD three weeks ago and can't stop playing it. Karen, all of 19, sounded and played like a seasoned pro. He early drumming has never been bettered, by Hal Blaine nor any of them.
All these early Carpenter songs were so special & what gems they were. Karen however was singing about something that she had not yet experienced called Love, but you could never tell by how well the song was done, always with such feeling. She read all the songs so well.
I read your words and feel as though l'm hearing myself say the same words . She was remarkable in many ways and that voice is unbelievably beautiful as she herself was while singing those sweet songs . She was always singing a song for you .

Wow, I don't know this one-- where have I been? It sounds like her extraordinary drumming with its light, jazzy feel. Her younger vocals had a sense of depth that I honestly love even more than her later work.
You are so, so lucky to have been a part of that era. I would kill to have been around during the 70s, because it seems like such a wonderful time, musically at least. I'm 17, and have grown up listening to classics like this, which has turned me into a huge Carpenters fan, although I love others such as Simon & Garfunkel as well. I honestly wish I didn't have to be part of today's generation who seem to think that people like Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj are musically talented.

This is one of the most emotional and ethereal songs of the Carpenters. There is a powerful ebb and flow with a strong melodic undercurrent,when it gets to the climax it always gives me goosebumps ,the harmonies are like giant waves crashing at your heart. Timeless,rest in peace sweet Karen.

I knew she had the voice of an Angel, when our choir director, at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, CA. saw her at CSULB, in 1969. She was so awesome and I saw the Carpenters in concert in 1973, when Cubby of the Mouseketers was the backup drummer!

My personal favourite song has to be "A Song For You", and "The Karen Carpenter Story" is my favourite movie of all time, despite Rich's hatred of it, and it is what introduced me to the wonderful talents that are Karen and Richard Carpenter :).
