    Funny situation. You made this video as you are cloning the 416, but I am watching it because I changed the buffer tube on my MR223A3 and had to put on a standard castle nut.
    Ironic. :)

    Used a POF anti tilt tube and it works as well😊

    Great video, I got the Strike Industries enhanced buffer tube for my AR-9 build for the aesthetics. They also have a skeletonized extended castle nut too.

      Thanks for watching and mentioning that. Just from looking at photos, it looks like their extended castle nut is a similar length to this one so you could probably fit an HK one on there too as I was thinking, cool.

      Glad to hear it! I think It's going to be a really cool build, at this point just a lot of waiting for parts to come in.

    Great video. Very helpful. Just subscribed to hopefully get more helpful content like this

      Thanks for subscribing! I've got quite a few more videos like this already and I plan to have a lot more in the future as well. I did a more comprehensive video similar to this one covering ALL the part differences between the HK416 and the AR-15 as opposed to just the buffer tube, which you might find helpful too: th-cam.com/video/U7sUkNyaE3E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=O8QvzX3NUaTfy7Sz

    Usually, an HK MR556 or HK416 A5 lower will have an extra detent you hammer in on the left side lower to capture the buffer detent. I'm sure that would also solve your issue here. Plus, you could use any milspec buffer tube you want without having to buy the specific Aero buffer tube you mentioned. Correct me if I am wrong, though.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's correct, though it's not an extra detent but just an extra roll pin that spans across the buffer retaining pin. Just recently I found the specs to drill out the hole properly in an AR lower, so that's certainly another option. One additional caveat with that roll pin though is that only works with the HK buffer retaining pin due to the difference in shape.

      @@Feldmutze ah, thank you for the info. I'll be sure I use the HK or Haus buffer retaining pin. I am planning on getting a clone lower for an HK416 and using an LMT buffer tube. I quite like the gray dry film lubricant on them.

    Great video! I've run into an issue trying to change the endplate on my MR223A3 to a HK QD one. Do you have any advice as to which castle nut wrench to use? I've taken my rifle to a gunsmith and he couldn't get the hooks/pins from the wrench to engage with the HK Extended castle nut. Any advice? Thanks!

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! You can use any AR-15 castle nut wrench to remove it. I usually use a Spike's Tactical wrench that I quite like as it engages 3 norches. Since making this video, I've tested both an authentic HK extended castle nut and the Haus one I showed in this video, and both are compatible with a standard AR-15 castle nut wrench. Perhaps that gunsmith doesn't have the correct sized castle nut wrench?

      @@Feldmutze Thank you for the info. He must have had a really strange one then. I have also asked the guys on HKPro and a few confirmed that it should work. Thanks for pointing out the specific one you use. I won't be taking my rifle to the gunsmith in question, since he didn't even know about staking and the fact that the castle nut was staked from the factory.

    i added this enhanced buffer tube to my optics planet cart two days ago when I seen it was only 8$ more than the standard aero carbine buffer kit. This is for my Gibbz MG4 build. I was hoping you would show underneath the tube. I read that they added holes to the tube for moisture drainage. Also, Im gonna check what that extended castle nut cost.

    • @Feldmutze

      The Aero Precision has a hole drilled in each of the locking positions for drainage. I also noticed that the Geissele one I showed in this video has holes drilled in as well, but only in the last four locking positions. I found an image that shows the bottom of the Aero Precision enhanced buffer tube quite well here shop.truestrategic.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/APRH101227C_00.jpg
      The extended castle nut is a little on the expensive side especially when it's ultimately just a castle nut. $37 for a US-made clone as I showed in the video from Haus, and ~$80-$100 for an authentic HK A5 extended castle nut.

    I have an STS A5 lower and I bought an HK buffer tube and the A5 castle nut and had the same problem. Is there different HK factory buffer tubes? I ended up using a standard castle nut

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, there are different HK buffer tubes. The extended castle nut won't fit on the commercial-spec/HK-spec tubes but it should fit on the Mil-spec ones.
      *Edit: I was researching this more and there are commercial spec tubes from HK that WILL fit the extended castle nut. What really makes the difference is whether they're made for the old 416 or the 416A5 and you'll need to make sure to get an A5 tube which have more material cut out to accommodate the extended castle nut.

    Tnx for making me stop looking for this problem :-)
    Stil wondering why hk cant make mil spec tubes and buttstocks?

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      HK does make milspec buffer tubes and stocks. The milspec HK buffer tubes come standard on the MR556 and the HK Slimline stocks fit milspec tubes. The EU MR223 does use a commercial-spec tube however.
