Great reaction. I am privileged to be one of the first commenters. A couple of points that might be helpful. Ironically, given your comments about tribute acts, this is a bit of a tribute act, but in a good way. Not Amy Winehouse hair, she did not invent the beehive; Priscilla Presley hair, with Elvis’s outfit from the ‘68 Comeback Special. And his guitar from the same show. And the pianist is wearing the same outfit as his band from the same show. She literally blows the dust (did you see it fly off the piano’s dust sheet?) off an old classic.

@@103mrg Rob Christie posted on his Instagram that it is his guitar. I don't think he indicated that it was the same one Elvis used. But, he also posted comparison photos of his guitar and the one Elvis used (borrowed) and they sure seem to exactly match.

She has also been under the mentoring of Rob Christie (the pianist here and 2x Grammy award), studio director of Republic Records in LA. Being their high priority new artist, she has had every facility laid at her feet, and she has taken full advantage of it all. They are letting her go where she wants to, they know they have a phenomenal artist on their books. Like with Mother .. that opening line sent goosebumps up many an arm! Without scrolling through all the comments, I'm sure others have mentioned (but if not) that the hairstyle was in honor of Priscilla Presley, Elvis's wife when this was recorded by him. Amy Winehouse wouldn't be born until 15 years later. I don't know how this reaction escaped from being in my recommendations until now, but my eyes lit up and I got a huge smile when I saw it. There's a picture of (age about 1-2) baby Lisa Marie Presley on a golden couch like Angie's cousin sat on with a white dress. There was one of Lisa also (when she’s about 3) with white dress & she had curls like Angie’s other cousin Athena had (from her uncle Michael's kids). Plus it acted as a double for us watching Angie growing up. Her sister Juilette was the older one in the white dress like Angie was in, when she was 10-12 before she changed at 13 & her, her mom Sara & grandma Mery made clothes for her performances. (Angie made it modern & nostalgic at the same time. She’s emotes the story, for she is a true master story teller) The black jumpsuit & red guitar is for the welcome back tour in 1968. The hair was for Priscilla his wife, also Angie sitting on the couch. Chandeliers, mirrors & furniture was for Graceland, the Piano player Rob Christie wearing red like Elvis band members & you'll even see that Angie's (Elvis stance) put her leg out & bent like Elvis did. Angelina did a lot of homework & paid a lot of respect & gave us a lot of Easter eggs & there’s still more. As she usually does on her videos. I've listened to Angelina's rendition probably ten times. I just can't get enough of her artistry. At the beginning of the video---prefaced by the hollow echo of her bootsteps---it's like she is physically stepping back in time when she removes the sheets from the old chair and mirror. More so when the dusty sheet is removed from the old, beat-up piano. Coupled with her 60s retro Priscilla hairdo, black leather Elvis outfit, and cherry red electric guitar---all are reminiscent of a more innocent, bygone era. I can think of no other vocalist than Angelina Jordan who has the artistry to present such a hauntingly beautiful interpretation of Suspicious Minds.
Angelina’s grandmother produced all of this, down to the tiniest detail. The filming was very good. Every time I watch, their is something else. There are 2 mirrors on the wall that show her reflection. I love the bell on the door. So much period detail. Thanks for reacting.
Ladys, it seems, this marks the end of Angelinas school days/videos, as seen with her younger relatives playing her. It seems, we art starting a new chapter with her. Her concerts in Norway, Japan, bringing out her new album after returning. We "angels" are pretty sure, now will come the TV shows, Talk shows....the whole caboodle. Yes Angelina is growing up - she brings out the meaning of the song like no other. She does indeed make it appear to be her own song. She has so much respect for Elvis, the outfit and the guitar, so well accompanied by Rob Christie (Republic Records Director) on Piano. Very well produced video, her Grandma was the producer - perhaps that why all four of her grandchildren were included! Angelina is currently giving live outdoor concerts in Norway, I hope that later she will give some concerts in London. Of course, all this needs to fit in with the school holidays - she is still only 16. I can't even begin to imagine what she will be like when she is 18 or 21...

Loved the song, your reaction, and Angelina. Even though most people say the hair reminds them of Priscilla, which it does, I think Elvis had a lot to do with the way Priscilla wore her hair. So for me, I believe Angelina looks like Elvis as a female.

Hi 👋 you 2. Giving you an update. Angelina released her 1st official single from RR on May 5th called "Love don't let me go". Angie said she wrote it about LOVE itself and not about being in love but her talking to LOVE itself. Deep lyrics for a 17 yr old. Her album will be released between June and Fall of 2023.

Angelina has an amazing ability to make you forget the original she covers. I have almost always preferred her versions. Those first notes give me chills even after watching her sing it over 20 times.

It is a pure Elvis song. To say it should have been written for her misses the point of Angelina paying total tribute to Elvis and one of his greatest songs.
Angelina is amazing! Her voice has matured even more so; there's such a richness in her voice, so evident in this performance. This is a beautiful tribute to the memory of Elvis Presley, the silver and gold props, her leather outfit, and the red guitar and suit worn by the piano player. I think she is also paying tribute to Priscilla Presley with the bouffant hair style. Going down memory lane with their only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, from toddler on up; I am assuming the reason for the little girls at different ages. Beautiful tribute from a lovely young lady with extraordinary vocals. You are a gift Angelina. That you ladies for a great reaction.

AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

Congratulations you’ve become a “must see” experience. Love the banter between you two😀. Note that Angelina exploded in our consciousness at the beginning of the Covid nightmare (roundabout early 2020). Her voice just seemed to hit the right spot at the right time (when we needed it most) You must now try to see her live version of I have Nothing (Whitney Houston cover) she performed 2 weeks ago during her concert in Norway (released by Norwegian TV in 1080p HD). She is not a little girl anymore. Mother will love it (though she must listen with a relaxing drink, not coffee, because it dries her skin).😁

Ironically, given your comments about tribute acts, this is a bit of a tribute act, but in a good way. Not Amy Winehouse hair, she did not invent the beehive; Priscilla Presley hair, with Elvis’s outfit from the ‘68 Comeback Special. And his guitar from the same show. And the pianist is wearing the same outfit as his band from the same show. She literally blows the dust (did you see it fly off the piano’s dust sheet?) off an old classic.

John Do you have any evidence that it's the guitar that Elvis actually used and that Rob is the owner?
@@103mrg Rob Christie posted on his Instagram that it is his guitar. I don't think he indicated that it was the same one Elvis used. But, he also posted comparison photos of his guitar and the one Elvis used (borrowed) and they sure seem to exactly match.

She is only 16, so her progression is still on an upward curve, maybe for another 10 years?! You’re right that, she has grown a LOT in the last 2 years. She has also been under the mentoring of Rob Christie (the pianist here and 2x Grammy award), studio director of Republic Records in LA. Being their high priority new artist, she has had every facility laid at her feet, and she has taken full advantage of it all. They are letting her go where she wants to, they know they have a phenomenal artist on their books.

Without scrolling through all the comments, I'm sure others have mentioned (but if not) that the hairstyle was in honor of Priscilla Presley, Elvis's wife when this was recorded by him. I've listened to Angelina's rendition probably ten times. I just can't get enough of her artistry. At the beginning of the video---prefaced by the hollow echo of her bootsteps---it's like she is physically stepping back in time when she removes the sheets from the old chair and mirror. More so when the dusty sheet is removed from the old, beat-up piano. Coupled with her 60s retro Priscilla hairdo, black leather Elvis outfit, and cherry red electric guitar---all are reminiscent of a more innocent, bygone era. I can think of no other vocalist than Angelina Jordan who has the artistry to present such a hauntingly beautiful interpretation of Suspicious Minds.

Angelina’s grandmother produced all of this, down to the tiniest detail. The filming was very good. Every time I watch, their is something else. There are 2 mirrors on the wall that show her reflection. I love the bell on the door. So much period detail.

Her concerts in Norway, Japan, bringing out her new album after returning. We "angels" are pretty sure, now will come the TV shows, Talk shows....the whole caboodle. Yes Angelina is growing up - she brings out the meaning of the song like no other. She does indeed make it appear to be her own song. She has so much respect for Elvis, the outfit and the guitar, so well accompanied by Rob Christie (Republic Records Director) on Piano. Very well produced video, her Grandma was the producer - perhaps that why all four of her grandchildren were included! Angelina is currently giving live outdoor concerts in Norway, I hope that later she will give some concerts in London. Of course, all this needs to fit in with the school holidays - she is still only 16. I can't even begin to imagine what she will be like when she is 18 or 21...

Hi Tom! Well, thank you for that list - we've just photographed it and will be referring back to it as soon as there is time. Mother is really keen to hear her perform Tears Dry on Their Own. We were lucky enough to be invited along to Amy Winehouse's final live show and it's hard to forget what a legend she was. Angelina is the one person Mother will allow to sing her songs.

Loved the song, your reaction, and Angelina. Even though most people say the hair reminds them of Priscilla, which it does, I think Elvis had a lot to do with the way Priscilla wore her hair. So for me, I believe Angelina looks like Elvis as a female.

Hi 👋 you 2. Giving you an update. Angelina released her 1st official single from RR on May 5th called "Love don't let me go". Angie said she wrote it about LOVE itself and not about being in love but her talking to LOVE itself. Deep lyrics for a 17 yr old. Her album will be released between June and Fall of 2023.
Nice to see you two lovely ladies again. I got to thinking maybe one or both of you ran off and got married or something. Anyway thank you for coming back and doing another Angelina reaction. Now please go back a couple of months the see her do My Funny Valentine. At age 16 she did the most sultry / beautiful rendition of that song you’ll ever hear.

Angelina has an amazing ability to make you forget the original she covers. I have almost always preferred her versions. Those first notes give me chills even after watching her sing it over 20 times.
Angelina never ceases to amaze me, at just how incredibly talented she is, and that she can take her voice to newer levels, we have never heard before.....there is something so special about her ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only her voice, but her delivery is also her gift!

The Hagstrom Red Guitar used in this video is a modern up to date copy of the one Elvis used in 1968.
The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set."

Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block.
The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000.

The visuals are gorgeous: she uncovers beautiful pieces from the past an her cousins and sister give a nice sense of time passing. Beautiful Elvis imagery as well rhinestone boots, the mic, the costumes, the guitar and Priscilla beehive.
She really makes me feel the sad story where suspicion and distrust kills love. Elvis amazing performance always had me doubt he was really bothered being caught in a trap and such :-)

It is a pure Elvis song. To say it should have been written for her misses the point of Angelina paying total tribute to Elvis and one of his greatest songs.

Angelina is amazing! Her voice has matured even more so; there's such a richness in her voice, so evident in this performance. This is a beautiful tribute to the memory of Elvis Presley, the silver and gold props, her leather outfit, and the red guitar and suit worn by the piano player. I think she is also paying tribute to Priscilla Presley with the bouffant hair style. Going down memory lane with their only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, from toddler on up; I am assuming the reason for the little girls at different ages.

The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.

That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? She's wearing a black leather outfit in homage to Elvis. The hair is for Priscilla Presley, since the song is about relationship. The guitar is the same guitar Elvis used in his iconic 2968 tour. I wish you'd watch it again with us. Grandma Mery produced it. The first two children are her little cousins and the third one was her sister Juliette, now looking all grown up and beautiful.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

Note that Angelina exploded in our consciousness at the beginning of the Covid nightmare (roundabout early 2020). Her voice just seemed to hit the right spot at the right time (when we needed it most)
You must now try to see her live version of I have Nothing (Whitney Houston cover) she performed 2 weeks ago during her concert in Norway (released by Norwegian TV in 1080p HD). She is not a little girl anymore. Mother will love it (though she must listen with a relaxing drink, not coffee, because it dries her skin).😁
