I’m so glad you reviewed this album. It’s a fantastic Pop/Metal album and the inclusion of other sub genres are genius to me. Yes, that’s Marilyn Manson on the record. Poppy has one of the most interesting pop careers in recent memory. It’s exciting to watch. Personally, though, I feel as though the crowd cheering in “Concrete” makes perfect sense. considering it blends into the final part of the song, which is the catchy pop-hook part. It's wonderful. All around it's one of the more interesting metal albums I've heard in awhile, and I love some extreme shit. Poppy's take on it just sounds surprisingly fresh, and a combination that you don't hear all that much. I really appreciate the critical acclaim it's receiving, as at first I received a bit of backlash for enjoying it as much as I did, considering most people see me as a "truebred" metalhead. I wouldn't call this avant-garde, but it's certainly an eclectic style that ranges through many genres. I hope that this could be a crossover record for those that've previously enjoyed Poppy, or otherwise enjoy the soundscapes at hand.

But this and his albums are the most I've been invested in the genre because of the experimentation. Do you have any other artists and especially specific albums you'd suggest? Agreed, it's an interesting album with some interesting sounds all mixed in and I'm curious to see how this will play out for culture + music progression. Shes got a cute, girly punky metal type of style.
I've never been into metal, as a sound it's something I haven't really gotten into, but Poppy and this album have changed my mind on that ironically enough. I'm a fan & can't wait to see it all live next weekend!
Easily my favourite thing Poppy has dropped, which is surprising given my love of her creepy culty days (hence my name). She is incapable of not dropping bangers at this rate.
Loved this record, really great to see poppy going for a heavier tone. "BLOODMONEY" might be my favorite track, i really like the mid-tempo "drop", and the lyrics are top notch . "I Disagree" is good as well, the japanese vocals and industrial beat are what makes this song unique.

Maybe it's just me, but I definitely see BLOODMONEY as being directed at the Catholic church. It talks about men's grabbing hands going in places they shouldn't, begging for Christ's forgiveness, and how people's beliefs can change depending on context.
Its about the music industry, music executives specifically, the album is actually poppy disagreeing and burning down the standards of the music industry
Aaahhh! Dude I loved that video! So cool to not only see someone actually acknowledge the passion that goes into death/extreme metal but to be so genuine and vulnerable on video was beautiful bro. Hope you're still checking out some metal on your own time.
As someone who haven't listen to poppy since "lowlife" and her questionable videos, this album is very refreshing and impressive. Much less gimmicky than I thought it would be, and sonically i DIG. I cant get bloodmoney out of my head
The biggest downside of this album is that poppy already released like half the songs before dropping the album. Wish she would have waited and hit us all with banger after banger
Nah I think 8/10 did it justice. the one time melon did a review that made sense, except for the fact that he didnt like concrete >:( it was funny and sonically nice too
She's only performing one cover song, All the Things She Said by t.A.T.u. Outside of the I Disagree album she's playing Am I a Girl?, X, Play Destroy and Scary Mask
An important thing to remember when you’re listening to I Disagree, is the fact that Poppy herself is a victim of Titanics abuse and manipulation. Keeping that in mind while listening to the album makes the lyrics make more sense.
Especially when listening to Anything Like Me. That song has a lot of lyrics that “coincidentally” align with her predicament with Mars Argo and what Titanic was doing.
8:04. I think you missed the whole point of the album. She’s breaking out as an artist. Refusing to be defined. She’s playing poppy because that’s what she WANTS to play right now. She’ll quit when she stops having fun. This is seemingly close to the end of the story arc.
My ranking: 1. Anything Like Me 2. I Disagree 3. BLOODMONEY 4. Don’t Go Outside 5. Sick Of The Sun 6. Bite Your Teeth 7. Fill The Crown (I like the chorus, but it’s overall pretty messy. Fun tho.) 8. Concrete (Same as FTC, very fun and enjoyable, but technically messy) 9. Sit/Stay 10. Nothing I Need (Forgettable)
@@MLDX most of her songs in the past are not to be taken seriously they're mostly making fun of pop artist and being this dumb robotic pop artist/industry plant.
Yassss finally, I was anticipating this review even more than Circles. It's been doing really well apparently, but I'm glad Anthony is here to give the album a little more attention.
I Disagree is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I enjoy all of Poppy's music. Poppy and Spiritbox are doing some of the most interesting stuff in metal right now.
I think this album was an incredible achievement in music. Any artist could mash up different genres and sounds to only end up with a mess that would just be an unpleasant listen. But what she's done here is the opposite. I had to listen to it multiple times to just believe that many different sounds were coalesced into this album and they actually fit. Yes nu-metal sounds and much of what she has here have become hokey over time to the point where the metal genre as a whole has shifted to a heavier more complicated sound with the exception of bands such as Ghost but she crafted this thing in a way where I can't help but be surprised at it as a whole. I don't think I would generally hate on any pop artist that dives into the metal genre as I think that just the recognition that metal exists to some pop artists might be a good thing as far as expanding the audience as a whole. Overall just very well done.

100% the best and most accurate review on TH-cam, here for it! Much closer to the conversations my friends and I have had about the album than the typical TH-camr that immediately references Baby Metal, making me want to find an old CRT monitor to smash my head through-the comparison is so lazy and really disappointing. I loved the album, and when I saw here live with my sister last February, (last public event I attended before the pandemic-sad, because I was really looking forward to her touring with one of my favorite bands Deftones last Summer,) Poppy, her band, and Vowws were all incredibly awesome. I’ll say her performance was less energetic than I was expecting but I blame the horrible Florida humidity, the nonstop touring, and what looked to me like a dress that did not at all fit our climate, (what do I know, maybe the dress breathes super well and was super comfy, I dunno.) Her band, (Nicolas Perez, Matt McJunkins, & Ralph Alexander,) was fantastic.

somebody wait...what album got a 6? Don’t tell me you counting the MBDTF Redux review? 😂
S Mac
It was the 2 million sub special so, I don’t know.
Maybe it's just me, but I definitely see BLOODMONEY as being directed at the Catholic church. It talks about men's grabbing hands going in places they shouldn't, begging for Christ's forgiveness, and how people's beliefs can change depending on context.
Nah it's a call-back to Depeche Mode. Grabbing hands grab all they can... everything counts in large amounts. It's about the corporate corruption.
Its about the music industry, music executives specifically, the album is actually poppy disagreeing and burning down the standards of the music industry
It's a reference to bo2's origins
I don't think we know what specifically it's directed at. It's all the same kind of degeneracy though.
@@billowytrots8366 poppy has said in interviews its about that so im going off of that
The band on his shirt made me cry the first time I heard them
I saw your video reacting to voice of the soul your a cool dude. Make more reactions to metal bro I’ll watch and enjoy them my guy.
@@onlyonpaper Thank you! I have more content coming soon!
Aaahhh! Dude I loved that video! So cool to not only see someone actually acknowledge the passion that goes into death/extreme metal but to be so genuine and vulnerable on video was beautiful bro. Hope you're still checking out some metal on your own time.
@@NateAlyn I feel like those two other commenters are bots advertising your channel. You don't even get 1k views on most of your vids.
phil norris that particular video has well over 100k views though, fym
for an album called “I Disagree” I very much agree with this rating
At first I was saying in my head “melon wtf are you going on about” but I listened to it and it’s actually pretty good
Same dude
As someone who haven't listen to poppy since "lowlife" and her questionable videos, this album is very refreshing and impressive. Much less gimmicky than I thought it would be, and sonically i DIG. I cant get bloodmoney out of my head
The biggest downside of this album is that poppy already released like half the songs before dropping the album. Wish she would have waited and hit us all with banger after banger
i stan her but thats definitely a pet peeve of mine 💔😔
@@notdamienirl same tbh. I'm happy she constantly releases stuff but it made the album feel less as a whole
still a great album
Loved this album but it should’ve been about 10 minutes longer
ok
nahh its short bc they cut all the filler. better this than this + 2-3 filler tracks
I have this on vinyl, but when I made my MP3 of it, I added the Choke EP and it works well as a whole!
Nah it’s the perfect length for this sort of album
Milky's Vinyl Club thank you for the idea!
I might have to DISAGREE with you on this one melon... 10/10
Nah I think 8/10 did it justice. the one time melon did a review that made sense, except for the fact that he didnt like concrete >:( it was funny and sonically nice too
I freaking loved this record and am of the crowd that this record should have gotten a Yellow Flannel, but that my opinion to Melons
Anthony, this isn't an episode of Let's Argue.
love the carcass album in the background
Turn the 8 upside down
Its now an 8
Turn it side ways its now an ∞
Turn it diagonally now it’s a diagonal 8
I'm going to see her perform on the 28th. She's performing the entire album with some cover songs. Really dig this album.
same going to see her on the 6th should be awesome
Vowws are opening up for her, worth checking out
She's only performing one cover song, All the Things She Said by t.A.T.u. Outside of the I Disagree album she's playing Am I a Girl?, X, Play Destroy and Scary Mask
@@jacobidec4026 she's in Seattle today ..I should buy a ticket
Anthony my mom won’t let me listen to this album because the cover looks “scary” Can you talk to her?
it is scary , i agree with carol
the profile pic takes this comment to another level.
"I disagree with Poppy having enough rights as a woman to make this record." Really, melon?
LETS AGREE: I DISAGREE DOES IN FACT DESERVE AN 8/10
This album is so good that it has restored my faith in modern music.
That cover looks badass. Definitely excited to check this out.
It’s by the same guy who did the Daughters album art too!
Jesse Draxler is a god
Jesse also designed some of mars argos old merch too 😳
Poppy went from a 6, to a 7, and then to an 8. The evolution!
My Brain:
Don't watch this video that just "popped" onto your feed. It's time for bed.
Me:
I disagree

"The transitions are really impressive".... your's are too, Anthony.
Wow flirting with Anthony

Marcus INfinity I reckon you're a virgin who has never talked friendly to girls?
What I'm hearing is that this album is better than MBDTF
An important thing to remember when you’re listening to I Disagree, is the fact that Poppy herself is a victim of Titanics abuse and manipulation. Keeping that in mind while listening to the album makes the lyrics make more sense.
Especially when listening to Anything Like Me. That song has a lot of lyrics that “coincidentally” align with her predicament with Mars Argo and what Titanic was doing.
Is there a difference between a yellow flannel 8/10 and a no flannel 8/10?
Yes
Yes
No

Yesn't
With the deluxe, this album is a 10/10 for me.
guys im not sure, but I think he likes Poppy🤔
I agree!
Fantano: Let’s Argue
Poppy: I Disagree
Fantano: Am I a joke to you?
That’s actually good.
Ha ha funny may may very creative you are genius

I so often agree with your scores, but almost NEVER with your least favorite tracks. CONCRETE is fire!
I’ve been routing for poppy ever since her first metal crossover stuff, I’m so glad she finally got like big recognition.
Sit/Stay is in a compound meter, 7/8 + 4/4. Kinda like the 15/8 groove in the Guerilla Toss track "Future Doesn't Know"
I’ve been listening to this album non-stop for the past week.
It is SO FUCKING GOOD!
facts
8:04. I think you missed the whole point of the album. She’s breaking out as an artist. Refusing to be defined. She’s playing poppy because that’s what she WANTS to play right now. She’ll quit when she stops having fun. This is seemingly close to the end of the story arc.
he didn’t even give himself a Nickthony Nametano.
glad to see youre finally releasing this so i can confirm just how much i love this album
My ranking:
1. Anything Like Me
2. I Disagree
3. BLOODMONEY
4. Don’t Go Outside
5. Sick Of The Sun
6. Bite Your Teeth
7. Fill The Crown (I like the chorus, but it’s overall pretty messy. Fun tho.)
8. Concrete (Same as FTC, very fun and enjoyable, but technically messy)
9. Sit/Stay
10. Nothing I Need (Forgettable)
we already got two 8s
*we’re gonna get 79 more and no 10s*
dylan dilman three 8’s now
*3 eights
Charli might as well be a 10 in his eyes.
She’s so cool man, she’s kind yet badass!
Hell yes Poppy’s genre change was unexpected but done so well. Love her new stuff
is this the "I'm Poppy" girl that made weird youtube videos?
Yes she is
@@rrperry3606 bruh what a glow up, I remember listening to her first few songs and thinking she was good
Yep
@@MLDX most of her songs in the past are not to be taken seriously they're mostly making fun of pop artist and being this dumb robotic pop artist/industry plant.
Who tf else would it be?
Yassss finally, I was anticipating this review even more than Circles.
It's been doing really well apparently, but I'm glad Anthony is here to give the album a little more attention.
I Disagree is one of my favorite albums of all time, but I enjoy all of Poppy's music. Poppy and Spiritbox are doing some of the most interesting stuff in metal right now.
She literally just quoted a Depeche Mode lyrics with that grabbing hands bit
I think she's pulling in a lot of obvious influences on this album.
She stated in an AMA that she was indeed pulling from that 💕
@@shariwelch8760 oh yeah her references are very on the nose but i kinda like that
C.C Carlhead her ability to repurpose lines and even sounds is pretty brilliant considering all the different directions they are coming from
Year 2024. Poppy is now black metal solo project
Poppy is a fucking marketing genius, thats it.

Her next album will definitely be a 9.
Polyphia gets an 8, Poppy gets an 8.
Both are some of my favorite artists of the past decade. Can you make a collaboration happen Fantano?
I'm going to see Poppy live in 3 weeks. Hope it lives up to the album hype.
Ahah yeah had been listening to polyphia , and found poppy from this video's, and i am here again to listen to a review of the album 😅
She’s a drunk and has no talent. Sell your ticket while you can.
what talent you have?
Karim Pardayev writing in English. Something you can’t do properly, chum.
@@kidsfromthenorth3191 Great. My native language is Russian, i am not talented in it either. What talent you have specifically in English, maybe like you can't make a mistake in it, or in writing douchey comments?
Concrete is actually my favorite lol. It's so dynamic and catchy. *Sharp and pointy yummy yummy yummy!*
My personal favorite songs from this album are Sit/Stay and Don’t go outside, I also love “Bleep bloop” and “If it bleeds” on the bonus version. Great album imo

I’ll say her performance was less energetic than I was expecting but I blame the horrible Florida humidity, the nonstop touring, and what looked to me like a dress that did not at all fit our climate, (what do I know, maybe the dress breathes super well and was super comfy, I dunno.)
Her band, (Nicolas Perez, Matt McJunkins, & Ralph Alexander,) was fantastic.
@@emirsalman3237--Not friends, other reviewers, reactors, etc.; my friends mostly get stuff like Poppy, (in fact, she's a bit too normie for some of them.)
Feels like an American baby metal. I look forward to this future persona/sound from her. It’s very catchy and can bring pop fans to the world of metal. YOU CANT DEFEAT THE METAL
Can’t believe I’m gonna say this but I actually like This whole album, something about it’s makes me wince and feel like “wtf am I listening to?” But the more I listen the more I like and it’s bugging me so much that I’ve fully accepted that I am now a fan. Even her slow songs in this album have such a dreamy early 2000s girl sitting in her bed writing in her diary feel. And all the other hard core songs are actually fucking catchy!
Can we talk about how passionate melon sounds talking about this album.
Him not enjoying the Worlds album and the song Concrete has me thoroughly convinced this dude is an alien from another planet pretending to be human
