a big part of this channel's charm is the fact that you explain everything in detail, a bit like a hangout with dad or somthing. i don't see any reason to be apologetic about it, i'm sure most of your viewers enjoy that aspect too.
I must confess (sorry) I find that rather repetitive and dull. Sorry, no intention of hating or anything around that. Just my thoughts. Another thing I find on the comments sections of Nates channel every so often is people comparing him to Graeme and how "superior" his videos are. There's no reason whatsoever for Nate to keep such comments active and thriving.
@@sarahbasto6520 well I mean it is his competition... It's also not like Nate himself is the one writing these comments or putting them up. . . Why would he want to take something down that shines a positive light on him? To protect the competition? People say those things for a reason.. I'm also pretty sure that HGP has a lot more followers than Nate as it is, so it's not like it's hurting him.
It just came to me. Watching Nate work and hearing him talk and explain how he's doing things is almost enchanting, similar to watching and listening to Bob Ross paint. Nate! The Bob Ross of fixing cow hoofs! My life is far removed from cows and hoofs but it is so calming and relaxing watching Nate's videos. It's therapeutic.
This morning as I was putting peanut butter on my toast, I started to apply some to the edge like you do on the blocks you put on the cow's hoof. I had to stop and say wait a minute, just what are you doing? Yes I talk to myself. ;-)
98% of my knowledge is completely useless stuff I learned from educational videos that have no bearing on my life. Thank you for the education, no matter how useless it is; I love it all.
Am i a cow hoof trimmer? No Do i own any cows? No Do i even have a farm? No Do i even live in the country? No Do i want to do any of the above? No Have i watched every video since i found you 1.5 years ago? YES Lmao I always enjoy the explanations too, never change
I could seriously watch Nate The Hoof Guy continuously all day long!!!!!!! These are so amazing, calming, insightful, educational and makes me so happy.
Yes, we want to know, we need to know, we love the cows and we need to know how each problem is cared for. You never know when one of us may need to help one of these gorgeous ladies. We will be ready to serve. 🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
Nate, I will probably never do your job or even live on a farm, but I love watching you take care of these animals. I can't imagine where they would be without you.
After a crazy day of either preparing hospital reporting to Medicaid and Medicare or dealing with auditors for said reporting, it’s so nice to wind down with one of your videos. Thank you for doing what you do: demonstrating and educating us about the art of hoof trimming that you do so well. Thank you for the moments of peace and relaxation.
You have the best channel for hoof trimming. I appreciate that you explain everything, you make sure we can see what you’re doing and you don’t fill the time with excess drama. It’s all about the cow in your videos.
I caught the dots, but they weren't the answer. I did note that with all the damage underneath, it looked like this problem had been going on a while. You explanation, of hoof horn growing and shifting the location of things, was appreciated. Like the idea that an internal problem lets the rest get started.
So very well done - your knowledge and skill and gentleness with the ladies is unmatched. I learn so much and can’t get enough of your explanations. I even like watching the cow walk off. Fan for life. ❤
The videos where you end up taking massive cuts, removing a lot of material in a single swipe, are quite satisfying. You rarely get to see chunks like that; most of the time it's all about being delicate and precise. But _getting_ to the delicate precision, sometimes you just go full send.
You’re the best at what you do, Nate! I love to hear the details and explanations of what you find as you work. The sweet cows are blessed to have you as their farrier!
Yes! Yes it is useful to me. I love watching these videos but I always feel a little dumb because I still can't figure out where/why there's a problem. It's nice knowing how you figure it out.
Quite apart from seeing the good job being done fixing the cows' problems, I thoroughly enjoy your explanations and the knowledge I pick up. And yes, you are correct as a sixty year old woman with a bad back I'm not likely to need to call on that education! Thank you Nate as always. Kind regards to your family from the Welsh Marches.
I so enjoy learning something from each video, although I struggle finding the problem unless it’s blatantly obvious. More importantly, I admire how gentle you are with the cows. It’s quite apparent how you want them to feel comfortable and be as healthy as possible. Thank you for being a gentle soul to these big guys.
You are an excellent teacher - open your own hoof trimming school! Or conduct seminars for those of us who will never trim a cow’s hoof but find this incredibly interesting. (The hallmark of an active brain is learning new and interesting things that are outside your regular wheelhouse.)
Oh, Nate---you're having fun with us, having us search for little black dots. It's true that a cosmic-level catastrophe would have to happen for me to became the only person to trim hooves, but I find it very informative anyway. So you just keep trolling me about where the problem is! 😂
I feel so strange for absolutely LOVING that first big swipe of your knife, the one that usually reveals a deep pocket of delaminated hoof horn😂 it's such a thrill, like someone discovering a cave for the first time and wanting to go and check it out
A horse barn I work with actually got a Highland cow recently as a pet. I was able to tell that her hooves weren't balanced right because of these videos. Hopefully they can get a trimmer to come in soon.
No Nate, I will never need to know that, but it is still FASCINATING! 😂 And after watching so many of your videos, your explanation gave me a clearer picture in my mind of how the hoof grows and how the areas of damage carry through that growth. Who knows, maybe it will be applicable to something else someday.😊
Ive many of these and find ot very interesting with your explanations. This is an important profession we dont hear about. My 3rd gr.grandfather was a farrier. That was 1830's and a couple of decades on I'm sure. These videos have connected me to those grandparents. They homesteaded in WI and are buried near Madison.
Listen, you’re right and in all likelihood I’ll never trim a single cow hoof in my life, but I like to know these things just in case there’s a random future where I’m like an apocalypse dairy farmer or something
Well when you see a dot like that, as a seasoned hoof trimming viewer (lol) I know there's an extremely high chance the problem is either right under there or a little higher due to the way hoof sol grows. And if we were trimmers and trimmed from the dot and up, we would uncover the separation and later the source problem so a point to us viwers :)
hey nate! i’m going on a trip to some pretty cool places (like the grand canyons and more) and i’m probably gonna see some cows, so i’m exploring cow videos and just rediscovered your channel!
I love the calm demeanor. It makes the content relaxing. I grew up on a beef cattle farm but these dairy operations are total different from my experiences. Thanks for teaching all of us so much about hoof trimming. I will probably never use it but it interesting.
How did farmers way, way back keep the hoofs in good shape without crushes, and super glues with blocks and electric grinders? By the way thanks for instructing all of us. We might not use the knowledge in our daily lives but you can bet those of us that are addicted to these videos want, or need, to know what you are doing and why you are doing it. I wonder how many of the folks have farmers in their ancestry like I do. I just figure it’s in my genes to be interested in this type of video. I remember once on a car trip as a kid my mom saying she would like a herd of black Angus. I thought it was an odd thing to say but I was a kid so I didn’t ask. Later with Ancestry I found out that many many of my ancestors were farmers going back to at least the 1700’s in the United States. Her own dad farmed as did his father who lived in the middle of the state of Illinois in farm country in the middle of the United States of America. So there you have to reason my mom yearned for a herd of black angus cattle and me watching cow and bull hoof trimming on TH-cam 65 years later.
I once was in a farm when the trimmer found a bullet casing on a foot. It was a very small caliber, explains why it was easier for it to remain vertical and not horizontal in which case it would've been flattened and buried. I think the owner told his son to stop using the rifle on the field, period. I think he did so when the cows were housed, he wouldn't scare them but metal on the field is always bad.
“now, do you really need to know that? is this ever going to be useful for you, practically?” me who hasn’t been within 100 meters of a cow my whole adult life:
Question about the glue for the Blocks. I see the mixing nozzles which I think are a cool item. How often do you have to replace the nozzle, every application or do they last the day? I know that once the glue is mixed it has a set curing time. I've always been curious. I always love my "Uncle Nate" videos 😊
Love the detail! Question:why not brush the manure off the exterior of the hoof before starting? Seems leaving it there could lead to wound contamination.
While I'll probably never trim a hoof, I always enjoy being talked to like I'm Nate's trusty apprentice
Exactly! I really appreciate having the detailed information. I love going away with that extra understanding. Thank you Nate 😊💫

In my house when Bob Ross would come on TV none of us ever saw the finished painting cuz we all fell asleep lol
Yep, all those happy little black dots…
I get it!
Wow yes nail on head man
Most definitely! I watched a couple other hoof videos that were recommended and they just don't have the same feel to them.
Sitting here at my desk at work I said out loud, "My goodness! LOOK at all that hoof separation!"
That's the moment you know Nate is doing something good. Never set a foot near a farm herd in my life and YET
Oooops!
Ha!
Good work
its a lot

I love how you explain the problem and what you’re doing and why. Thanks Nate!!
Cows hide a whole world of problems in their hooves. Almost invisible at the surface level, but dig down and there's more than meets the eye.
Someone needs to put together a 10 hour marathon of these videos
With no speeding past the good parts. 🤓👍🏽❤️
So very well done - your knowledge and skill and gentleness with the ladies is unmatched. I learn so much and can’t get enough of your explanations. I even like watching the cow walk off. Fan for life. ❤
Those knives are so sharp that sometimes it looks like he's shaving parmesan cheese!😂❤❤
I think someone called it "the forbidden parmesan" at some point. 😅
Oh my gosh, this was a great video. Thank you for further explaining the problem and how the problem moved with the growth of the hoof horn. ❤❤❤❤
No idea why, but I find it satisfying and relaxing to watch the separated horn being removed.
I love how you explain things. This is a job that I have no real understanding about, and I admit, I find it fascinating. Thank you for these videos.
Saw the dogs and ,in my head, went, "WHITE LINE! WHITE LINE! SHE'S GOT A WHITE LINE DEFECT!" 😂🐄
Same….😂

As congratulations, you bamboozled me totally. I’d have put money on a sole ulcer, but that’s because I’m an armchair trimmer 🤣🤣🤣
Love seeing the claw being relieved of pressure. David Bowie would be proud.

You always explain this work so well!

Is there a way to fill the under the hoof with some kind of material instead of removing the all of hoof to reach the wound??
