That comment echoes a sentiment constantly made on the hoof gp channel, where he feels the stress of being in the crush is a big problem. (Or maybe it's the fact he's paid by the cow; do faster work, which means more cows, which means more money).

One thing about working with large animals, you work as quietly and as gently as possible. Prudent pace, yes, but fast and quick startles and unsettles these animals. You're a credit to your industry, Sir.

I follow several hoof trimmers, and Nate is one of my absolute favorites BECAUSE of his gentleness and BECAUSE he takes the time necessary to ensure the animal is as comfortable as a reasonable level of care can make it. And there's not a damned thing "wrong" with that. And then I saw mistakes being made because of the speed! Yes! The other cow was flinching more! Nate- please do not let those who do not know of what they speak to pressure you to work differently! @@helmaschine1885 I am not a hoof trimmer or a farmer, but I think he should slow down a bit. I get very nervous at times on behalf of the cow! The other day, from the camera angle, I could see he had clearly touched the corium and the cow flinched. And it wasn't due to a newer injury where there wasn't a clearer separation. He had plenty of room to maneuver. He was just not taking the time to aim and lift that false sole. I almost wrote a comment- the opposite of what Nate got- "Please slow down! You have a whole team helping you!"- but I stopped myself. I understand that maybe a bull needs to get out quicker- the issue of that radial nerve. I wonder, though, when he has a huge queue of cows to get through, the pressure is greater to move faster, so easy for me, as someone said below, to be a keyboard warrior and be just like Nate's critic! I am glad I said nothing. The guy is a pro and needs to figure that out my himself. He obviously cares about the cows, as does Nate.

I had an orthodontist who, indeed of gently twisting my braces off, yanked them off and left fissures in my teeth from the force of pulling them off. I also work in a library and materials get destroyed so easily and quickly that if you rush repairs or processing won’t survive more than a couple of circulations before they aren’t useable anymore. I’ve worked for companies that had shoddy craftsmanship and had people fall through their deck because they didn’t take the time to make or install the boards correctly. Shall I go on . . . ?

It is always amazing to see how fast the cows re-adapt to walking normally, when they figure-out the pain is gone or certainly much less. People forget the value of doing things right the first time and not always being in a rush. Just keep doing things the the way you are. I love watching your videos.

I watch other hoof trim channels but YOURS is by far my favorite. Your grinding is always so smooth & even, & your cuts are precise & gentle. Thanks!

I’m so glad you are taking your time because it’s easy to see these girls are not hurting while you are working on them. I have watched others who rush and hurt them also easy to see. He goes very fast and doesn’t care when he makes them bleed. It’s really sad to hear them and see them trying to get away. I cannot watch . Thankyou Nate for being thorough and yet so kind ❤️

Good gracious, the cows you treat are having a spa day! It’s very evident they are comfortable, and are thrilled to have the weight off the affected hoof. Speed, as you said, isn’t always appropriate.

I love that you take your time. I tried to watch another persons videos and the way he hacked at that poor cow was terrible. The cow was jerking her foot in pain with every swipe. He was cutting the corium recklessly and there was so much blood. But watching that poor cow try to jerk her foot away constantly made me sad. Good job Nate

Aside from your channel, I also watch another hoof trimming channel -- which will remain nameless -- and the cows that are worked on in that channel move quite a bit while getting trimmed. You can tell that you go as gently as possible, which also comes with all the years of experience you have compared to the other person on the other channel.

I love your videos because of the gentleness and care you show to these cows. That person doesn't sound like they improve the quality of life of anything around them and, therefore, should not be listened to. I have been watching your videos for years and will continue to do so. Keep up the good work, Nate, and know you have a faithful fan base.

The person whom made the hurry up comment obviously doesn't know anything about being compassionate towards an animal that has a sore hoove! I only watch your videos because I can not watch the other hoof trimmers because they are so rough with the animals. I have truly admired you from the very first video I have ever watched of yours. You can genuinely tell that you care about helping the animals with as little pain as possible, not just hurrying & getting it done to get paid! 🐄 ❤🐄❤🐄

I’m very glad that you were able to settle that dispute that commenter tried to start with you. Anybody sensible would know that these creatures have to be as comfortable as possible. I’m happy to see you’re proud of your work method and continue to stand on it. Amazing job as always Nate!❤

Personally, I prefer to see you take your time and get it right the first time than hurry and either miss something or worse, injure the cow even worse than they currently are.
You keep doing what you do.

When the bleeding started at the grinding phase I was ready for there to be a wolf fang up there or something a lot more dramatic than an itty bitty pebble. An interesting trim, thanks for sharing!

Nate's got us all yhinking like the fish in the tank at the dental office in Finding Nemo:

"He's been favoring the salicylic acid wrap lately"

I always get so excited to see new videos it’s so satisfying, you’re so kind to these cows I’ve looked for others who make videos like you but there’s nothing like it. Other trimmers on TH-cam seem rougher in my opinion and leaning more into getting views but this is just wholesome.

I’m not even interested in hoof care. I’m interested in interesting people who are passionate about something and have a knack for explaining it well. In this case, that’s Nate the Hoof Guy. And part of the reason Nate is good at what he does is that he doesn’t hurry. He doesn’t hurry because he cares about the cows. And that’s obvious. It’s genuine. And it is compelling. It’s why we are all here. So Nate, please don’t hurry. That’s part of your charm.
