Such a beautiful couple with a soon-to-be beautiful home. I can't believe you're getting all that built for only 3.1 million. The quality of work being done is amazing. Bohol is popular tourist island from Cebu. Resorts are moving there also. It's a bit hot and humid however a nice place to visit. Most of your time you are dependent on Cebu for services and the ferry. However the potential is very good. The floating restaurant was great in Bohol. Also their zoo and strawberry farm when open is nice as well as the Chocolate Mountains. We built in the Philippines 6 years ago and it worked out.
Hi Gregory, thanks for watching. You would be surprised how well serviced Bohol is now. Many huge hardware stores and everything we could get in Cebu. It can be humid sometimes but we are fortunate that it’s a bit cooler on the land as we have a constant breeze and lots of trees :)🌲
Good luck on your new build both, Its gonna look fantastic when it's complete. Will be following closely to see the finish quality as I am also looking to build in Bohol next year. All the best.
Nice design and layout. I'll wait for the finish product, it seems like this will be quite a design inspiration for me to build a house there in the Philippines too.
That's a great design and considering the price range- this one's pretty good. Got a pool as well. We recently purchased a same lot size this 2024, same price as well as yours.
All looking great at this stage of the build, looking 4ward to seeing more of such and hopefully not too much over your budget but even so it's worth it...

Great channel. Excellent floor plan and overall design… You’re making exceptional progress… look forward to the rest of the build. We’ll be building within two years on our property in S Leyte.
@jmfarrell5 thank you! We’re over the moon with the progress so far. I think having an architect who is also the contractor is the way to go because they are motivated to have everything done properly as it’s their reputation that gets judged on the final product. Wow that's pretty impressive. I've been thinking about doing the same. Just wished it was that simple for myself. I'll be watching very closely and hope everything continues to go smoothly for you both. Love the idea and hope there is room within the local area for when it's my turn in the very close foreseeable future.
Hi Andrew, thanks for your comments! I really thought it was going to be far more complicated but with an architect that knows what they are doing, it’s really been very simple. I’m putting together a video shortly about how to find a good architect and understanding the process of getting permits etc and the easiest way to navigate it. Let us know when you are ready and we can put you in touch with the agent who sold us the land. It’s a great area as its only 15 mins to a big mall but feels like the middle of nowhere.
Cheers guys I really would appreciate that. I hope you guys have a awesome festive season and continue to kick goals. Thanks you again and I will keep in touch.
Totally agree. I’m quietly confident that the build will be on target for what we planned but there ofcourse will be things like the drainage that we hadn’t planned on that cost an extra 316k and little things such as we wanted nicer tiles in the pool which was an extra 10k and then fencing etc. Fingers crossed!
Place looks great. Subscribed as I need to see it all done :) Good job on your first video. We are next to you on Negros Island (Bacolod area). Cheers from an ex WA resident, Canadian, English X-Pat.
Of course, but for your safety check the location, anything happen if you have good location your property values goes up plus its easy to put in the market. Most foreigner are not aware of location wise in philippines. Carefully so your won't regret later once relationships don't work
Thanks for your comment. We’re really happy with the location. It’s only 15 minutes to Tagbilaran town with everything we could need, yet it’s very quiet and peaceful. The same size lot in Tagbilaran city would be around 10-15m so Im happy with the price and investment considering resale value. However this is a long term home for us. :)
Great layout, open concept for sure. I did notice the dog singing in the background. I have the same issues in just about every video I put out. Look forward to the finished product. Take care
Thanks! Haha, yes no matter where you go in the Philippines, there will always be a mixed symphony of dogs barking, roosters crowing and love ballads sung under the influence of red horse on karaoke, even in the most quiet and remote areas. :)
Do everything you can NOT to use wood anywhere in the house. Termites are a very big issue in the Philippines. I love Bohol and we are also considering a home there.
Cool Design Bro! Total Bardominium! Easy Construction. I've always thought those would work well in the PH. Caution though.....all that open space and glass is NOT energy efficient. But it looks awesome! More fans! And just isulate the roof make sure the glass is highest energy rating you can get. Rain hitting a metal roof is LOUD! I would recess those can lights. But love that design. Barndo in Bohol! $55K is a smoking deal! Even with only 40% protection.
Thanks for your feedback and comments. Really helpful. Agree with you about recessing the lights. Will make that change! Quite like the sound of rain on a tin roof but we do have a 1ft cavity and the inside will be lined with wood and amakan and we have insulation between. The glass I will certainly look at getting a high energy rating. We have 1.5m eves which give us some shade and left some trees that provide more shade. And we have open areas covered with mesh for air flow. Some great feedback thank you!
@@UNKNOWN-un6nz Need a few pages and there are several measurements, but most applicable in tropical environments would be a glass window or door that would maximize the sunlight coming in while minimizing the heat coming in....referred to as LSG, Light to Solar Gain. The better the EPR Energy performance rating will result in lower energy (A/C) usage to keep the space cool....and with vaulted ceilings as well there is more air to move and cool than with a flat ceiling. Thereby also contributing to higher energy usage. But I love light, glass and high ceilings too! It just requires more engineering calculations. When you combine a metal roof, vaulted ceiling, lots of glass, and mini-split ACs, it could quickly become a "greenhouse" when the sun hits it. And in the PH, the sun hits hard and energy is expensive there, so best to have an engineer run the energy calcs.
@@CORELLAHOMESTEAD Another item you may want to consider is wiring your electrical panel for a fast "generator" switch over. Lots of brown outs there and its good to have a backup plan. Look at what is happening in Siquijor right now. The whole island has been without power for ?2 weeks?

Don't know if bamboo will be a durable material . It depends how they got treated to protect them against termites or other destructive elements. Just be aware of those.
Thanks for your comments. The bamboo will be treated but we do know even then it will probably need to be replaced in 5-7 years but that’s ok for the look we wanted :)
Nice design. To answer your, NO you cannot build a home like that for less than $55k even if you had your own crew and not the additional cost of a contractor. Final cost will be substantially more. Some materials are lower cost here but for custom windows the cost will be quite high. And quality fixtures are also quite high.
Oh ye of little faith :) We are half way through and on budget. The budget was set by the architect with a detailed breakdown of costs and he’s still confident to deliver on budget. We have decided to go with polished concrete floors etc to reduce costs but the door and window frames will be powder coated aluminium, standard sizes to keep costs down. Ill share the full quote in a future video but we WILL complete the house for $55k. We have added solar and will probably add fencing too so we will exceed $55k overall but those are optional.
Hey Howard, have you bought land yet? The agent who was fantastic who sold us the land was Sherry +63 917 305 7996 and CN Architecture - Raymond (0916) 714 7819 for the design and build.
Your going to have fish on your property? Large amount of Water is the worse thing if you don't want mosquitoes. I think you will have more mosquitoes 🦟 that the fish can eat. You should grow plants around the water that repellent mosquitoes and put up a couple of bat houses up to help with mosquito control. ✌️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Thanks mate. Will definitely look at planting mosquito repellent plants around the pond. The reason we decided to put fish in the drainage was to reduce the mosquitoes from the fish eating them. Hopefully it won’t be too much of a problem!
Bloody foreigners letting the cat out of the bag! Hopefully prices remain reasonable. They have a lot of competition so should stay competitively priced, plus I think they are happy to have the business.
Hi! Thanks for watching. I can assure you that we have no help outside of the workers the architect has supplied. Im confident we will be on budget without having to provide assistance. It does seem unreal for what we are getting. The land was additional. Plus we will surely have additional costs like doing fencing etc.
Your not allowed to own that much property, its illegal! And if you dident obtain building permits its an illegal structure. When city hall does there assessment your going to have a big problem!
Hi, what makes you think that we are building without permits? We have submitted and had approved all the permits from Structural, Electrical, Sanitary etc. everything has been done properly and my next video will cover the process. And the land is in Aprils name so nothing illegal here. But thanks for your concern.
According to Philippine law, a foreigner cannot directly own any land in the Philippines; the 1987 Constitution prohibits foreign land ownership, meaning a foreigner can own zero land in the country.
Hi Neil, I most certainly am not misleading or telling any lies. It actually works out to about $52k but we have elected to do some additional things like make the guest house an extra 4m bigger, the terrace bigger and upgrade tiles in the pool which will be about an extra $2.5k so $55k is really the top end. Plus we are adding optional things such as solar and fencing which is not included. But can assure you I’m not telling fibs for clicks. In a future video I’ll share the detailed quote.
It’s a 16m x 5m rectangle with an extra 16m x 2m for the semi outdoor bathrooms and pocket garden. Plus 16m guest house and a 80m2 terrace with 4x 2.4m pool.
Hi Xunny, I can’t believe the value we are getting, even down to the aluminium framed glass doors and windows and touches like the amakan panels lining the ceiling etc. but really the cost for the build is $52,500 but then we had to spend 300k php on drainage and decided to spend 280k on a solar system. So another $10k USD. Ofcourse we have to furnish it and buy 3 aircons, stive, water heaters etc but the $52,500 includes everything else like kitchen cabinets etc.

Could you please put me in touch with your architect? I’m looking at land in pangalow and hoping to build a nice bungalow
Hey Howard, have you bought land yet? The agent who was fantastic who sold us the land was Sherry +63 917 305 7996 and CN Architecture - Raymond (0916) 714 7819 for the design and build.
Hi
Hi Robert :)
The locals will start pushing the prices up if foreigners keep advertising how cheap it is to build in the Philippines.
Bloody foreigners letting the cat out of the bag! Hopefully prices remain reasonable. They have a lot of competition so should stay competitively priced, plus I think they are happy to have the business.
It’s good to have a dream…$55,000 is a nice idea but unrealistic unless you have her family and friends doing the labor. Keep us informed.
You don't own that land dude! Your not smart for pumping money into it.
I understand I can’t ever own the land and I’m ok with that and developing the land. I appreciate your concern though.

Thanks! I do some online consulting as a nutritionist and have Airbnb properties that provide me income :)
I really doubt you can build that for 55k. Many people lie about the true cost of building the house in the Philippines for clicks.
@@CORELLAHOMESTEAD
How many sqr meters for the house, interior only.
It’s a 16m x 5m rectangle with an extra 16m x 2m for the semi outdoor bathrooms and pocket garden. Plus 16m guest house and a 80m2 terrace with 4x 2.4m pool.
yeah looks alright mate , mozzy gunna eat ya alive
Hope not! That’s why we are going to have tilapia to eat them and removed trees that are known to attract mozzies. Fingers crossed!🤞
@@CORELLAHOMESTEAD in the area your in the best thing you can plant is lemon grass , mozzy hate that stuff .
Thanks Dave. Will definitely do that. Love lemongrass for soups too :)
NO WAY
Yes way :)
Who's money your's or hers 😂?
Relevance?
$55k seems unrealistic for the size and materials used. but I love the layout and location - very tropical..
How much do you think it's worth?
Hi Xunny, I can’t believe the value we are getting, even down to the aluminium framed glass doors and windows and touches like the amakan panels lining the ceiling etc. but really the cost for the build is $52,500 but then we had to spend 300k php on drainage and decided to spend 280k on a solar system. So another $10k USD. Ofcourse we have to furnish it and buy 3 aircons, stive, water heaters etc but the $52,500 includes everything else like kitchen cabinets etc.
Wow this is amazing. I’m following your vlog now. I bought a property in Albur Bohol. Would you mind sharing your achitect please ?
@@manueljohncanero6139 Thanks for your comments! This is their FB page facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090098883217 and Raymonds number is 09175336696. All the best for your build! Might see you in Bohol one day :)
Can you imagine if all foreigners can buy land in the Philippines? In just a few years, foreigners would own half the Philippines. It's a good thing that the constitution doesn't allow it. 😊
