Thank you all with 4 Oceans for taking on this huge global task. I do agree we all need to spearhead companies to change from plastics to a biodegradable product! Starting by sending hand written and email messages to the companies.
Than k you for all the hard work you do to help fight plastic pollution. There are so many countries that don't have a waste disposal system set up or recycling services. Bringing this matter to their attention surely will help. The companies that produce this plastic need to step up and help fix this problem too.
The best way to create change is through individual action to reduce your use of single use plastics, raising awareness within your social circle and voting with your wallet to opt for sustainable alternatives at every opportunity. We all have the ability to shift the production habits of big brands by showing them there is demand for sustainable products.
@@4Ocean You advocate for the reduction of single use plastic, but 99% of ALL products come to shelves in PLASTIC. Where do you propose people buy their products that do not come in plastic. Meat...all wrapped in plastic, cleaning supplies, bottled water, soft drinks....plastic bottles, condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo....all come in plastic bottles. It appears that CORPORATIONS that manufacture and prepare their products should be your target for lobbying different means of bottling and wrapping their products. When meat was wrapped in paper, condiments, soft drinks, and canned food came in glass bottles, and paper bags were used in grocery stores, the environment was much cleaner. Trees are a sustainable source.
On the other hand, it's production companies packaging choices to the public; passing on responsibility. 1st World countries predominantly have gov provided sanitation. I have an organic and recycle bin, but my government still sends it all to the same processing. Underdeveloped governments also put responsibility on the consumer. Poor consumers have less ability to manage what it takes for proper composting as they often work all day for a few dollars. It's just good to keep both sides of the coin in mind. Dallas, TX
How can the local people be responsible if there is no official garbage disposal system? I saw that in rural areas in Cambodia where there simply is no garbage trucks etc. People are forced to eather live in their trash, throw it into the water or burn it (mostly they do the latter).
I wonder how much of the rubbish is washed up from neighbouring countries? It shows that we need to work together as a planet to keep our oceans clean, for the ocean life, animals and humans alike. One World mentality 🤩
Plastic is not the problem. People not using TRASH BINS is the problem. If your plastic goes into a bin, then it can be safely transported to a landfill and not clutter up our communities and beaches and nature. Amazing work guys!
People are wanting to have their trash go into landfill but surely you want to decrease the amount going into landfill because Java is an island with only so much land!
There is obviously a big issue with garbage collections and residents disposing of rubbish in the water ways which ends up on the beach and in the mangroves. Big change needed, the government needs to step up. Thank you guys for everything you're 😊 doing

Great work, I feel one of the goals for every clean up event should be to include atleast a half dozen new locals (ideally folks in local government/community leaders) every time a clean-up event occurs to encourage changes to community rules/activities to prevent the waste gathering so much in the future.
