That failed whistle off Gareth 😂😂
Innit and his wimpy joke about fiancé 😂😂👌
+Stiz4507 Why have I never noticed that before? Fantastic!
Steve M thats why another reason for the uk version is faaaaar superior the uk version, is this kind of subtle smart jokes that u may discover afrer a coupple of views. Shows just how quality this serie is. For sure not for random paesants
Brilliant!! 😂😂😂
@@Tombombadillo999 It's so pathetic when people talk shit about other series just cause they prefer one rather than the other, really pathetic and teenagery.
Only David Brent could go on a date and have her say 'Can we not talk about my dead mother's breasts?' within 30 seconds :D
silentbob82 Larry David would do it in 15 seconds:)
Ted Striker Social Assassin
That's going to be the very first thing I say on my next date.
Let us know how it goes ;).
Imagine ACTUALLY sitting through a whole dinner after an opening conversation like that...
"she was just a receptionist..." Great teambuilding mentality.
people didn't mince their words back then
"I'm racking my brains"
Ha
So am I.
Talk about a pig in knickers.
Not even Monkey Alan fancies her and he likes everyone!
That in itself his a great line, but what makes it funnier is her oblivious reaction to an obvious insult
I like the way Gareth tries to whistle to get everyone's attention. LOL
+444Centaur and his inept attempt at humour which all it does is totally humiliate Tim...
I love that, within 36 seconds of sitting down, she says to him "sorry, can we not talk about my dead mother's breasts" - absolute comedy gold!
Ahhh Duck Patè..
and everything suddently crushed
Neil in the first part gave a masterclass in passive aggressive behaviour.
definitely. underrated character.
Absolutely. Also I just noticed how his face turns from protraying smugness to shame at 0:30 when he realizes how long he's been standing there. He's just a bully, but he thinks he's better than that, so he "snaps out of it" when he feels the camera on him and it forces him to reflect on what exactly he's still standing there for. Incredible acting. Adds depth to the character that likely wasn't in the script. I think it's more obvious when you play it from about 0:22, to get a feel of how long he stands there. It's just a moment too long, and if a camera wasn't there, as has been the case his whole life, he would have exited guilt free and without even understanding his own behaviour, because thats how he's behaved all his life. But when he sees the camera, he's smart enough to realize what a pathetic bully he is being. Like he's been walked in on masturbating.
@@willw.1466 I think you've completely mis read the situation.
Brent is due some payback after the shit he has pulled on Neil..
The smirk he gives off to Brent, thinking how will he get a date.
Rrrrrrrr...duck paté.
Off a plate is very pleasant. But to put it on a person is demented!
@@tamhaswoods9056 Black belt.
Cringe TV at its finest
i prefer a flan
Alan Parker 🤣🤣
“I’m wracking my brains”
One of the most underrated lines in this show
I have never got this part. Is she supposed to super attractive (she isn’t)? A nice rack (she hasn’t)? Honestly the one part of the entire series I don’t understand.
It's pretty simple to understand ... The women was very unpleasant with next to none redeeming qualities... it's hard to see why anyone would have fancied her @@midooley543
The way David's mouth opens at 0:28 only for, helplessly, nothing to come out.
"can we please not talk about my dead mothers breasts"
I get tired of women saying this to me too
LOL that whistle.
5 years later and it's still funny.
6 years
Gervais....the Master at finding the awkward.
He doesn't find it, it's shadowing him everywhere he goes, like an ominous omen!
He and Merchant, the co-writer of the show.
@@IvoPoblete notable differences between the sort of work Ricky and Stephen have gone on to do though. Gervais' work is much more emotive and awkward, Stephen is much more silly and romantic.
Coogan as Partridge easily competes.
Urrrr duck pate.....
Love the way Brent squeezes out 'duck pate' after the horrendously embarrassing and awkward discussion of her dead mother's breast. classic Brent!
genizot rrrrrrr... duck pâté
Just the one breast?
Then he goes on to try and retrieve the situation by talking about men being attracted to cleavage because caveman would only have sex from behind like apes......just stop!
Brent mused, and commented on the necklace.
Don't get coarse, on a video-sharing site for the public.
@@user-lx3oi6xy2e You won't win an award for FILTH.
'she was just a receptionist...'
"uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh duck paté."
Gareth’s laugh after he’s just done Tim dirty 😂😂😂
"And yes, that 'fiance', Tim, if you know what that word means. Might want to keep your thoughts to yourself this time".
My favourite Gareth moment.
Gold. Some of the best writing I've ever seen.
Almost as good as Zombies in My Neighborhood
Last sentence by her was a bit much, no one would say that in real life. If she would be just quite and look awkward it would be better. We understand and feel the awkwardness and it's no need to tell everything.
yeah" GOLD JERRY GOLD"
The attention to detail, in particular of human reactions and insecurities is superb
@@matthewmiller8048 It's so good i swear they must have hired psychologists to advise on certain scenarios.
Gareth Keenan is so funny. The laughs we had in the army...
Both Brent and Neil look straight at the camera at the beginning for a split second which communicates so much 🤣
The little nervous glance to the camera @0:25 is superb..
I love the way his eyes shift ever so slightly ever time he's lying. Which is often.
00:48 Gareth's whistling technique FTW:)
Ted Striker lol
The necklace comment could have been a great chance to break the ice but typically Brent mucked it up😊
"I'm racking my brains" - Tim's funniest line...
uuurrhhh....duck pate....
+hhazze Always go with the duck.
rrrrrrrr duck Pate... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Nothing can top The Office Christmas Special, shockingly brilliant!
That look up at 2:50 😂
What I like about this is that it isn't unfair to Brent- he makes the necklace innuendo but she laughs it off and it's even a bit flirty. Then starts digging himself deeper.
lol. Gareth's attempt at a whistle. genius
little things like that made this such a great series
*Gareth
Gareth. Not Tim. Fail.
444Centaur oops a typo. how will i live with myself forever knowing that you said it was a "fail" ; )
Haha, that's not a typo. You got the name completely wrong. A typo is something like this: "Thanks for the birthday presgent".
Gareth is a legend in his own mind! ! !
I think Gareth's more excited than Tim about Dawn coming in!! Despite referring to her as "just" a receptionist...
2:49 that desperate little look he gives his date before ruminating on the duck pate
"I'm racking my brains."
She ain't bad TBH.
she's mingin'
She ain't bad TBH, no, she's fucking hideous.
I've had worse
Ive shagged worse and bragged about it lol
The acting is top notch.
"Can we not talk about my dead mothers breasts ?" Got to be one of the funniest lines in comedy
"I mean she probably wore it to draw attention to hers" :'D
What's good about British comedy is that it's realistic and highly relatable
Brilliantly clever and brilliantly acted.
"Might want to keep your thoughts to yourself this time" 😂
I am racking my brains - brilliant !
Utterly brilliant comedy.. and the acting from everybody in this is SUPERB......!!!!! Genius
Just priceless lovely subtle British humour 😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣
Neils look at the camera walking out the door 0:30 is so subtle.
You look abit rough on your picture pal.....late night was it
@@miked501 he was a leetle bit a druunk
That whistle hahahahaha brilliant
The 'duck pâté ' line is perfect.
My favourite line from any sitcom, EVER, is "I'm sorry can we not talk about my dead mother's breasts?" I cannot describe how much I laughed when I first heard that :)
I laugh every single time I see this clip, and I've seen it over 20 times..
I didn't like it. That line was so jumped, forced and unrealistic. We understand and feel the awkwardness, why she has to state this to us and say this line that no one would ever ever say in real life. Forced line + poor performance and poor delivery.
@@widM_ Pipe down Mark Kermode.
The other date scene in the pub with the woman in the schafron scarf was much funnier. This woman is so snooty and unlikeable from the off and I agree with the previous comment about her lines, feel a bit forced and unrealistic within the first minute of a date. She'd more than likely just humour him rather than shut him down like that.
@@grahamjackmacpherson6501 Well you write a sitcom then 🤣
I love Gareth's crap whistle haha
"And yes Tim thats uh fiance...if you know what that means....pfffpfff....maybe want to keep your thoughts to yourself this time....pfffpfff....."
Classic Gareth followed by a classic Tim reaction.
So so so well written
Very clever
1:00 Tim's reaction when he hears Dawn's name 😊
"She probably wore it to draw attention to hers" 💀
That fleeting smile @ 20 seconds, as he leaves...
its cut off but i like the bit when she skips the starter and goes straight to mains
Yes, it's going to be a very short date.
In seriousness though i think going for a formal dinner on a first blind date is a bit much, you'd be better off going somewhere a bit more casual.
Gareth was brilliant in this role
"You still need the two tickets, do you?"
😂😂😂So David Brent. Spot on. Love this one
Duck pate...
"Sorry, can we not talk about my dead mother's breasts?" Is probably my favourite line in anything ever.
It's beautiful that each person in each scene just wants to meet a partner, someone to love and who loves them. It's humanity at its core.
Absolute GENIUS
oh god, he has to start the date like that 😂😂
Everything is top notch in the writing, even Gareth's little pathetic whistle to catch everyone's attention 🤣
best comedy ever
I think there's a Gareth in every work place!
2:00 just ffin prideless lol
He;s actually doing ok -- for about 15 seconds. Until 2:32 ... mood killed right there
'Eeerrreerrrr duck pate'
Oohherrrrr 🦆 pattaay
The even funnier part of this is later on the way he digs himself even further into a hole with his people watching observations.... Presumably when we turned you around and did you from behind.....lmao !!
2:43 - I would have had David instantly just stand up and leave after that! 🤣
Actor who played Neil is perfect
A photo with today's newspaper hahahaha. Imagine
2:53 Uhhhhhhh duck pâté
"Sorry, can we not talk about my dead mothers breasts?"
"Yeah............uh..........uhhhh" I cried on the floor laughing at that and it still makes me laugh today.
"uhhhhhhhhhh...duck pate...." is the best part.
Still laughing, my friend ? :)
Great acting by all
That awkward moment Brent says "duck pate", if only he had one of Keith's scotch eggs to bite into right there.
2:00 just ffin priceless
Brilliant brilliant brilliant man
She looks about as much fun as an income tax reminder. Brent had a lucky escape there, I reckon.
2:30 And it was going so well.
Duck pate... I am in stitches with laughter
whats funny about that ... apart from the fact it sounds grim
@rick182z the awkward delivery to cover the silence and awkwardness of David Brent sticking his foot in it. You must be American
Tim's facial expressions lol
2:45 christ!! Lol
That went well hahaha.
Absolute perfection.
The writing, the casting, the acting, the direction.
Perfection !
Of all the things in the Christmas Specials, this was the scene that Karl was most interested by.
''Look at those!''
The kind of thing which happens to me unless I keep my mouth shut :(. I think it's a case of trying so hard not to mess up. Brent IS a good guy...he just can't get it across!
Muttley i
Would you like a starter ?
No id like to go straight to the main !
As soon as they sat down at the table I felt like hiding behind the couch from the awkwardness.
Duck pate 🤣🤣🤣
She probably wore it to bring attention to hers...
" You still need the two tickets do you ?
I’m racking my brains 🤣🤣
Duck pate... Genius...
I have gotten to the stage of only being able to listen to the audio.
