It was always going to happen. Staraptor was never going up so it's kinda obvious where they were going. Especially with the title of the mon that is too good to play with the rookies but not good enough to go pro/play with the pros.
Staraptor is always a powerful mon with reckless boosted stabs in Brave Bird and Double Edge. It just so happen that there are mons just as powerful without kamikazing itself through recoil.
I can't believe Heracross has dropped to PU. The monster that rocked choice scarf or band to one of the highest degrees in previous generations is now in the lowest tier barring LC.

For anyone confused about “the fall of rain”, a few of these tier changes are due to the banning of Archaludon- the main component of an insanely busted rain strategy. In the end though Pelipper is OU forever in my heart. pelcan mouth
rain was ou before archaludon even released... it's gonna come back. people are just desperate to see it fall, so they stop using it when they have any reason to. remember the early meta? people were all over protosynthesis mons, they were calling it the end of rain and the rise of sun. pelipper fell to uu. then it rose again, before wake came into the scene. then wake showed up and people were calling it broken and acting like rain didn't need to exist any more because wake made rain obsolete. yeah, no, that's just not true.
@@lucasgreer1736 sun was ou because people thought sun was killing rain, when that's... not true. weather counters weather. if sun is powerful, rain becomes powerful because it disables sun. same applies to other weathers but most sun abusers especially dislike rain, apart from walking wake
And thats what irks me so, if theyre so worried of stall mons find other ways to break stall! Like more toxic users or better yet, an ability that blocks healing moves that can be given to mons that varely get to shine otherwise! My girlfriend hates megas but I honestly hope if PLZA really pops off it forces Pokémon to explore having it as a more frequent mechanic, like regional variants

We shouldn't gas up Kingdra. Kingdra has been a mediocre Pokemon without rain for generations. Sure it has a niche in the tiers with Drizzle Pokemon but on it's own it really just sucks. It was already PU in gen 8 and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to ZU. Edit: It's ZU lmao
Its why PC should stop adding oh Paradox Forms and UBs and stay steady with mega for FE or new evolutions for old mons. They barely did anything with UBs atleast in SM till Postgame, and then with PFs they just made their counterparts more irrelevant at times 😅

Even if you stick with Mega Evolution as the primary gimmick, not every pokemon will get it and people really want to gamble with the risk of a already strong pokemon getting stronger from a Mega Evolution. Same with a new evolution not really helping said pokemon since the evolution can be mediocre and barely an improvement. Plus. It kinda runs into the issue of people wanting Kingdra to be good rather than its evolution being good and leaving poor Kingdra in the dust. Plus, you might just run into the Mega Garchomp issue where there are smarter uses of your Mega Evolution than Mega Garchomp and you can only use one Mega Pokemon at the time so it depends if it is actually worth using over other Mega Evolutions.

Also, strong pokemon getting a mega isn't that big of a deal as long as it's well made, plenty of already strong pokemon got megas, also again this is exactly true for paradox mons. I mean, it could be medocre or not much of an improvement, but that is an argument around not designing them poorly, not an argument against megas, they could make anything poorly and it would be bad. I think people are generally happy with a pokemon they like getting a mega that brings them some more relevance, the only way to make the base pokemon good again would be an overhaul of the massive powercreep that we've had recently. I think Mega Garchomp was a very well designed mega, he wasn't better than garchomp, in most cases he was just worse, but in niche scenarios on specific teams you would prefer mega chomp, and you can choose if you want to mega or not for that game. It also is literally part of the point the original post was making, paradox pokemon replace their old versions, megas give them some new life, but because you can only have 1 mega, they aren't replaced completely.
This generation is gonna be a fucking fever dream to talk about when it’s all said and done. It’s already been a fever dream and I’m fully expecting one more massive shift from PU to OU.
I recommend you stick to VGC this gen in particular. This gen has been terrible meta wise. No fun. First gen after years of competitive that I gave up OU shortly after the gen released. I almost exclusively play Random Battles on Showdown now. Tera is fun. This gen forced me into learning VGC. I don't own a Switch so nothing official for me. I only watch videos.
Ironic that rain fell off since Toxic Orb+Hydration is really good for ending the chances of Sleep, Paralysis, or Burn for a turn. Pairs nicely with Rest, too, in theory.
Heracross dropping to pu is so sad because I'm mainly a gen 3 player and back then heracross was one of the scariest mons to face but now all the old faces are in low tiers
Ah my favorite part of this channel, finding out what has happened in Gen 9 Comp that completely upended the old powers. For real, if Comp Pokemon was given a tarot reading before Gen 9 started it would have been the Falling Tower

I felt bad seeing my Gatr in NU until I saw that it's at least seeing more play than a freaking pseudolegendary. Then I just remember it's because competitive is insane
In vgc pelipper just shot up in usage cause it counters sun, gets wide guard for groudon, cayrex and kyogre, weather ball one shots incineroar in rain, and it gets good speed control between tailwind and icywind. Also you don't need to run kyogre to optimally enable that weather either so the restricted slot can be reserved for something else.
When you were talking about Pelipper and Barraskewda I had to check if this was recent or something from gen 8 😂 that exact thing happened at one point then too

Garganacl is a monster against a lot of OU mons, lots of waters and steels to slowly die from Salt, both in and out of game.
This isn’t a case of them being bad but just the reality when you reach over 1000 Pokémon , some just won’t keep up or fall off because of others .
