I read the 90s Superboy, Young Justice, Teen Titan and most Conner Kent related comics until 2016, I have authority to say I don't mind the name Superboy, doesn't mean he is not a man, nor he is inferior to Superman or Jon, I think he made it his own.
They should give him a new code name akind to his tactile telekinesis after all if Conner desided to really pushes himself to realise his full potential and fully develope his tactile telekinesis to its limits and see what he was truly capable of doing with it he could actually become the Strongest Super-Family Member in DC comics.
I think he needs a permanent location and cast more than strength, whenever someone who isn't the mainstream protagonist of the family gets the Gohan treatment, new writers have zero idea how to continue the characters power progress.
DC has this problem all tf over the place. Three Batgirls currently, multiple Aquaman and The Flash characters at once... Their whole legacy character title situation is a mess. I'd officially call Conner "Metropolis Kid" if I were calling it. It's a bit of a mouthful but he's used the nickname before and it'd give him his OWN identity like Nightwing got when he decided to take on a new character design and codename. Even Aqualad becoming Tempest was great, but they just don't do it anymore! The characters aren't getting new codenames anymore and I think it's because none of these characters are evolving anymore. And if I were somehow having my say I'd want an in-universe reboot on Jon Kent as well. The Superboy of the Super Sons was far too good to just throw out like they let Bendis do so disrespectfully.
thank you for making a video on conner hes gone through more disrespect than characters like nightwing which is insane considering the disrespect nightwings gotten informing people of this so problems that dc is making for conner can be fixed is great hes already got a decent sized fanbase otherwise he wouldnt have gotten his recent miniseries now this fanbase needs to ask dc to fix their mistakes and for a potential new name guardian would probably be fitting given kon-els history and the fact that conner considers guardian a mentor figure guardian isnt really used anymore anyway
Wow you're the first person I know who also has Connor as one of their favourite characters! I was introduced to Superboy for the first time in the Young justice show and then afterwards read the comics version from Geoff Johns in his Teen Titans, Adventure Comics and then Boy of Steel runs. The YJ and comics versions have quite some differences but I love both and he’s one of my favourite characters which I didn't expect at all. Now that the new 52 timeline is over I hope we can get stories with Connor, Cassie and Tim again. One of the best dynamics from the early 2000s DC and I was constantly waiting for his return throughout all of rebirth. This may be a hot take but I also thought the rivalry and feud he had with Superboy Prime was great and very interesting. It showed Prime was really just losing it and going crazy and was so on edge that he caused a war between like 4 superhero groups just to tell Connor he didn't deserve the name Superboy. When he did eventually come back I don't think he was really done that much justice and they did the weird thing where it was the same superboy who went through everything but for some reason, he reverted to looking and acting like the 90s version. I don't even know where he or Cassie are now in the comics since Bendis' mediocre Young Justice run. I honestly liked the design and character of the new 52 Kon-El version and he had some really good dynamics with new 52 Kara and some of the Titans but he was a totally different character and similarly just disappeared when rebirth started. Superman books barely sell themselves so I think it would be sick to have a book like "Superboys" where it's stories of Connor and Jon similar to Super Sons. Either that or give Connor another name that's not horrible like changing Robin to Drake or Signal or Blue Bird.
The post Superboy resurrection was unique; regeneration until the Legion of Superheroes time, 1000 years in the future. Ended up going back in time to before he died, so technically he was running around at the same time as his own catatonic body. Could have made for interesting stories if they expanded on it, like saving himself when he was vulnerable in the regeneration chamber. Or maybe do one with Time Police calling him a time anomaly who belongs 1000 years in the future, tries to drag him back. Never had any of that, it was one and done forgotten.
pretty sure conner came back while his body was still dead because he saw it and used it to his advantage in blackest night and im sure hes no longer a time anomaly because i assume his body was removed when dc rebooted he was safe from changes while in gemworld but new52 superboy took his place in universe
The new superboy mini series from last year is what got me back into comic books. I think it was pretty solid especially that final fight with cyborg superboy and the beam struggle they had. At this point though I honestly can’t see Conner being called anything but superboy. Kinda like how Tim drake feels weird when they give him other identities (Red Robin is such a bad name). The young justice show also kinda reinforced the idea that Conner is the main superboy. Plus the ending of the recent latest series has Conner being okay with the superboy name but that he should see it as something to hold him back but allow him to go out and do more then just what Clark does.
Connor has been my favorite forever. I grew up with him, kind of literally he was my age in young justice and the teen titans run he was in was during my high school years.
if superboy prime was my waiter I would tell him to bring another RETCON to the table...these freakin writers are just f ing up the comic industry...GAY SUPERMAN ROBIN BATMAN..??...ACTIVISTS SUPERMAN..???...
Funny thing is , nobody likes what Bendis did to Jon . Not even DC which is why they use kid Jon instead of adult him for everything else (YA comics , movies , animation , figurines and etc) .
I think they should have kept Jon a kid and done a team-up series with him as Conner's side-kick ("Superboy Sr and Superman Jr") while Clark was lost in space. Then, when (adult) Clark comes back, introduce a time displaced 5-year old Clark, Cir-El, Chris Kent (with his pre new-52 memories restored and added to his post-rebirth memories), and Ariella Kent. From that point the series is re-titled "The legion of Superboys (and girls!!!)"
hmmm i honest i like too conner kent is really cool and amazing also he is the "superboy" of the universe and no a sidekick i think is more a super but with his own style
Great job on this video and there’s a lot of great information in here that I didn’t even know about before so thank you for sharing it with us and I will definitely have to look into some of these older Superboy stories. I remember when I was first introduced to Superboy and why Conner Kent and his initial relationship with Cassie as Wondergirl was once really endearing and cute. There was a time when they were one of my favorite DC couples and I’m very thankful that they at least still have a lot of other fans out there who like to make up stories for them because Dc will probably never put them together again. Also it’s truly a treat to see a video promoting Conner’s character! Well done! I will definitely check out more of your videos. As for the name “Sky Rocket? I’m not sure that’s the best superhero name but if you like it then I respect you. Sounds like a little primitive to me but I respect your opinion.
Still mad they aged up Jon, SuperSons was so good, and even now at this point Damian should be like 16 already, he’s still only 14 for whatever reason, I guess they just wanted to invert the 3 year gap. Jon is fine as Superman but it was really thrust upon him not earned, with Clark, he made that name for himself, but now the next has to live up to his example, they can’t just take it. And now Kon-El joins the discarded superhero club, he should have been ditched the Superboy title if dc has had no plans to make him Superman as the new 52, they only even referenced future Conner Superman with that supersons/tim drake/Batman from the future/teen titans thing that one time in rebirth, they should just ditch Superboy, it’s not like the name is so popular they have to keep it for him, make him something else, make Kara superwoman, and make othul and ozul (the war world adopted kids) Superboy and girl, respectively
It's the same with marvel. I loved Nate Grey and Ben Reilly. They killed them off then brought them back years later. They didn't have a plan, so they were just written off again.
at least they backed out of sending conner into *g e y* tokenism purgatory like they did with tim and the new superboy, i actually thought conner was cool
All these next generation heroes are just adrift in DC with no future after Geoff Johns just HAD to bring back Hal and Barry. 20 years from now Bruce will still be Batman, Peter will be Spider-Man , Clark will be Superman, and Franklin and Valeria will still be children. Dick was lucky he got to grow into his 20s. Its annoying we only ever see the teen characters as adults in alternate universes where they're evil or the apocalypse happened
Honestly they need to give Conner a new superhero name and a place in the main DC community. And perhaps give him a new look he looks stuck in the 90s. I liked the t-shirt and jeans combo.
I really like whay young justice did with the angle of Conner being a clone of superman but still part of the family like a brother to Clark. I wish they'd go for that, its just so compeling!
Call this man Sentinel and expand the telekinesis, Kyle. My guy could be flying through space exploding asteroids with intrusive thoughts by now but everybody so sleepy
@@Seraph3d I agree. I think the tactile telekinesis could be stretched to some force object creation. Not GL levels of object creation but a shield could be an interesting callback. Personally I feel like at the very least Kenan can keep the name. He's supposed to be "The Super-Man of China". So let him just BE China's Super-Man. I mean I like seeing him interact with the main super fam, but he shouldn't be a permanent metropolis mainstay. Let him go back to China and lead the JLC As for Conner and Jon, Ive seen Sentinel and Scion thrown around as codenames. Tho personally I'd rather Jon just be a kid again and be the main Superboy as Clarks sidekick. But if DC really wants a younger Superman for a new generation... Then why couldn't it have been Conner
I love Connor . I grew up with him in the 90’s. Superboy and Supergirl are just confusing to me . I don’t even know who the current Supergirl is (Or if the original is still in continuity or not.). This was a good history . Thanks .
Kara is supergirl. She’s just Clark’s cousin. It’s as simple as that. She and power girl now co-exist, but powergirl now goes by the civilian name “Paige”( Jon gave her the name).
@@matthewschwartz6607 supposedly, everything is canon in DC nowadays, thanks to the last crisis event “ dark Crisis “. Conner going off into space make so much sense. Adventures in space have been part of Superman’s legacy and character as a kryptonian. Most importantly DC doesn’t have as much focus on space/cosmic based stories as marvel. Marvels got tons of cosmic empires like the kree and Skrulls, groups like the guardians of the galaxy, the star jammers, alpha flight ,the X men occasionally right now in x men red, nova, the inhumans, and more that focus on space . While for DC it’s really only the green lanterns. Space stories may happen from time to time but 9/10 times it’s the aliens coming to space or just a small limited event or focus. Having Conner have a book focusing on finding himself and in space would flesh out dc’s world outside of earth.

I read the 90s Superboy, Young Justice, Teen Titan and most Conner Kent related comics until 2016, I have authority to say I don't mind the name Superboy, doesn't mean he is not a man, nor he is inferior to Superman or Jon, I think he made it his own.
Call Connor Tomorrow Man, I believe there is a comic where he calls himself that
His latest mini series is called superboy the man of tomorrow and it's pretty good!
Oh I was just brainstorming names to comment something and thought of that one. That's neat.
It was the only thing that annoyed me about the YJ version of Connor as that show was pretty accurate in depicting everyone else
Honestly his super hero name could just be his Krpytonian name if anything.
I’m going to be feasting on content in here. This is my kind of humor. 🤤
thank you for
making a video on conner
hes gone through more disrespect than characters like nightwing which is insane considering the disrespect nightwings gotten
informing people of this so problems that dc is making for conner can be fixed is great hes already got a decent sized fanbase otherwise he wouldnt have gotten his recent miniseries now this fanbase needs to ask dc to fix their mistakes
and for a potential new name guardian would probably be fitting given kon-els history and the fact that conner considers guardian a mentor figure
guardian isnt really used anymore anyway
Damn, what they did to Jon's character is a travesty. You think Connor has it bad? Jon got literally shafted
0:45 you forgot "and got his ass handed to him by Aqua-Man"
Same problem is on wonder girl too
I had to constantly pause becouse of how lost I got hearing superboy conner Kal-el Kon-el names next to each other
I absolutely HATE what they did to Jhon they ruined that character
Same here I hate it too
Young Justice felt like it really appreciated conner kent
I think they should call Connor Super Nova
Unfortunately, the name is already taken. During "52" Booster Gold took the name "Supernova" as a disguise while he was thought to be dead.
Theyve made both my boys Conner and Tim pointless and redundant. To anyone who grewvup in the late 90s/early 2000s, your Robin and Superboy are OUT
Wow you're the first person I know who also has Connor as one of their favourite characters!
You know, if you want more stories with Tim, Conner and Cassie I really think you should read Young Justice (1998)
Just make Conner's hero name Kon-El
The post Superboy resurrection was unique; regeneration until the Legion of Superheroes time, 1000 years in the future.
Ended up going back in time to before he died, so technically he was running around at the same time as his own catatonic body. Could have made for interesting stories if they expanded on it, like saving himself when he was vulnerable in the regeneration chamber. Or maybe do one with Time Police calling him a time anomaly who belongs 1000 years in the future, tries to drag him back.
Never had any of that, it was one and done forgotten.
pretty sure conner came back while his body was still dead because he saw it and used it to his advantage in blackest night
and im sure hes no longer a time anomaly because i assume his body was removed when dc rebooted
he was safe from changes while in gemworld but new52 superboy took his place in universe
"Secret Identity" was supposed to be in its own continuity. I would've loved reading the adventures of that version of Superboy.
if superboy prime was my waiter I would tell him to bring another RETCON to the table...these freakin writers are just f ing up the comic industry...GAY SUPERMAN ROBIN BATMAN..??...ACTIVISTS SUPERMAN..???...
Truth bro Get Super boy prime another retcon punch
Funny thing is , nobody likes what Bendis did to Jon . Not even DC which is why they use kid Jon instead of adult him for everything else (YA comics , movies , animation , figurines and etc) .
Damn that's wild lol. Get Superboy prime back to hit em with another retcon punch and make it a clone saga type deal.
Oke superboy, you can either stay as superboy or become forcefield man.
What will it be?
The problem is they don't use him enough.
They are Never going to give Connor his own name. But who knows hopefully they do. 🤷
Superboy Prime is still my favorite Superman Variant
💯
Do you remeber when we had fun Damien and Superboy adventures? And then Bendis showed up, ruined him for no reason, then left?
Magg Visagio idea was very stupid. Is pure wagewagon and DC let her change Conner to a Trans girl, they going to give to Conner to Supergirl
It's the same with marvel. I loved Nate Grey and Ben Reilly. They killed them off then brought them back years later. They didn't have a plan, so they were just written off again.
I love Kon so much😭❤️
superboy prime was the best superboy hands down seeing him body all these jackholes was glorious
I would love it if you also did New 52 Superboy.
at least they backed out of sending conner into *g e y* tokenism purgatory like they did with tim and the new superboy, i actually thought conner was cool
Young justice season 3 one is my favourite
Let’s just call him corner Kent if we already know his name
Connor Kent is Connor Kent.
The moment I saw the thumbnail I thought it said “he is not ahoy” 😂
I just want a Comic for my boy Superboy Kon
he recently got a miniseries
Superboy Man of tomorrow
the full series will be available on places like amazon on the 19th
Super guy
All these next generation heroes are just adrift in DC with no future after Geoff Johns just HAD to bring back Hal and Barry. 20 years from now Bruce will still be Batman, Peter will be Spider-Man , Clark will be Superman, and Franklin and Valeria will still be children. Dick was lucky he got to grow into his 20s. Its annoying we only ever see the teen characters as adults in alternate universes where they're evil or the apocalypse happened
Awesome video, love to people talk about my favorite superhero. Definitely agree that a name change for Conner would be really beneficial
That u for talking about my boy.
This is absolutely amazing keep up the great work can’t wait to see more 🔥!
Agreed. This is a great retrospective on the history of Superboy.
Personally, i really enjoyed the New52 version and Young Justice animated series version
Costume-wise i liked the New 52 design the most.
Could that be because you've never read 94 superboy or 98 young justice?
Making Superboy trans would’ve been so stupid and idiotic and DC would’ve been set on fire
3:19 he's not dead
Right? You'd think with the amount of research put into this he'd realize it's George that's dead.
@8:30 thank you! Very true. And now Supermans son is the next token
Why is it tokenism whenever a character is queer?
@@MILOPETIT because it's unnecessary and just being done to push an agenda
@@MILOPETIT I answered your question but seem some a$$/hole removed it
Now we just need to figure out what makes Superman peanut butter so delicious.
I love that technically Super-boy is lex and Superman son, I guess lex used the pink kryptonite.
I came out of this more confused
Call this man Sentinel and expand the telekinesis, Kyle. My guy could be flying through space exploding asteroids with intrusive thoughts by now but everybody so sleepy
Sentinel isnt bad, speaks to his Guardian connection in his past.
@@Seraph3d I agree. I think the tactile telekinesis could be stretched to some force object creation. Not GL levels of object creation but a shield could be an interesting callback.
I don't know that tactile telekinesis is still the source of Conner's powerset, though. I haven't really followed comics since Infinite Crisis.
Keeping the leather jacket, it could be super punk I think that’s kind of cool
Connor Became Superman, When He Fought, Superboy Prime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I feel like at the very least Kenan can keep the name. He's supposed to be "The Super-Man of China". So let him just BE China's Super-Man. I mean I like seeing him interact with the main super fam, but he shouldn't be a permanent metropolis mainstay. Let him go back to China and lead the JLC
As for Conner and Jon, Ive seen Sentinel and Scion thrown around as codenames. Tho personally I'd rather Jon just be a kid again and be the main Superboy as Clarks sidekick.
But if DC really wants a younger Superman for a new generation... Then why couldn't it have been Conner
Secret Identity is fantastic!
Comets don't "rush overhead." If they did, they'd be traveling many times faster than light. And comets don't travel faster than light.
I prefer Superboy's Young Justice look. I like that the Titans show adapted the T-shirt Conner Kent. Though they fumbled when they made Conner bald.
Good video there’s so many unexplored paths they could go with him wish they’d utilize his potential
I for one like the thought of an angsty rebellious teen Superboy finding his own path like the robins
I love Connor . I grew up with him in the 90’s. Superboy and Supergirl are just confusing to me . I don’t even know who the current Supergirl is (Or if the original is still in continuity or not.). This was a good history . Thanks .
Kara i think. Power Girl is her from Earth 2
Kara is supergirl. She’s just Clark’s cousin. It’s as simple as that. She and power girl now co-exist, but powergirl now goes by the civilian name “Paige”( Jon gave her the name).
@@Dhampir101980 - The Supergirl that Jeph Loeb created? Is the original still retconned out of existence?
@@matthewschwartz6607 supposedly, everything is canon in DC nowadays, thanks to the last crisis event “ dark Crisis “. But given some of what Kara says and does in her one shot issue and in the Power girl miniseries, I can only surmise that the current Kara is more or less the Loeb version. But I haven’t read Supergirl since Loeb wrote her. But it is the Clark’s cousin from Argos, not the 90’s version. That’s for sure
@@Dhampir101980"dark crisis"? That sounds like a parody of late 2000s event comics. Tell me that isn't real
Before this new 52 dc happen superboy Connor Kent was at the time of his game
The second they introduced Jon Kent he took over
Jon Kent didn t earn the popularity like Connor Kent did.
Now it turns out connor Kent may have a greater potential than Superman and the
Rest of the super family
He may be capable of alter reality with his T.K. Powers
They could maybe give him the Ultraman mantle of prime Earth and make him give the code name a more heroic connotation. Or Ultra Boy, Powerboy. Or maybe even though it’s cheesy Superstar since he’s seen as more flashy especially in the 90s
@@Timepilot94 I know. However since he exists in the future, and gets very little usage they could easily give that mantle over to Connor and he could be the Ultra Boy of the modern day. I think Connor should go by Superstar though. And also explore his powers more to give him a unique identity. I’d love for him to get the Nightwing treatment and be his own hero
Man, I hate what they've done with the DC Universe in the past ten years. 9_9
There is literally no other name you can call him. That's the problem.anything they come up with will just sound silly
One of my favourite characters, please make more videos about superboy🙏
Kinda prefer the Young Justice one but this Superboy isn't bad either
I did a little sketchbook “pitch” not long ago renaming him Supernova. It’s been used by DC but is currently available, and I think it suits Kon quite well.
young justice wrote it better... had a good progression of the kids...
I don't like how they had him get closer with Superman during a time skip, though. They skipped character development that would have been interesting to watch play out.
they had many fails, but better offscreen character development then none, not only superboy, but Wally West as well, he was a character that deserved more@@mechadeka
The comic relationship between Clark and Kon was pretty similar, in Superman city of Tomorrow Clark gave Superboy the cold shoulder for talking to his parents and he later redeemed himself by adopting the kid at the end of 90s Superboy.
@@HELLO_KORO i didn't read the comic, but i was very happy for him being adopted by the Kents, undertanding that he is a person and needs love, he wasn't a product of cadmus to exploit...
U made a great point for example we gotta start calling beastboy... BeastMAN hes like 20 now
Awesome video
8:24 TRUTH 😂
Coming from Young Justice this is like a mental trip.
The entire Young Justice crew refuses to age or grow
The CassKon ship is getting wild briefly.
8:19 i think it’s funny how casual you went Jason shoots people and then real disappointed when tim was gay
They made Tim gay out of nowhere. Bro was literally married to Barbara in the Arkhamverse.
@@lucklesslackey I mean that’s like a different universe from the comics
@@AJedits65 It is, but it doesn't change how Tim turning gay is weird. Jason Todd in both the Arkhamverse and Comics still stays the same as a gun wielding vigilante, why'd they decide to change things with Tim Drake out of nowhere? Most modern comic writers are just pandering to the wrong demographic at this point
@@lucklesslackey because changing Tim Drake from being gay doesn’t matter. I also think he’s bi Jason‘s main character is being the red hood Tim being gay, doesn’t really matter
It reminded me of when they made Iceman gay. Not the original Iceman who had 50 years of history, but the All New X-Men (who were just the original teen X-Men) it just felt like representation where there was none before
Super cousin, Super Tardigrade, Super duper whatever
