      I was also able to get a discount coupon for $30 on Amazon. I am finding less reason to buy directly from Eufy now of days being that they do not even have the product available as of yet (March 16 2021) meanwhile Amazon is selling it as well as best buy with $30 off.

    I recently set up the Eufy Smart Lock. For the fast lock feature, the fingerprint button locks instantly. Using the lock/cancel button is a long-press. Overall this is the most complete deadbolt lock system that I have found with a good battery.

      how's the battery going now? i read many complains about the battery life that it only last for 2-4 months

    • @ErwinCar
      @ErwinCar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FooHenky I use it on a high traffic door which is used every day (unlocking/locking around 10 times). So far its been 3 months and it is at 3 bars. Realistically, I will probably get 5-6 months out of the battery before charging. But, time will tell. I will see what happens at the 4 month mark.

      Eufy smart lock has a one touch locking feature that requires user to hold down the cancel button for 3 seconds to relock the door from the outside. With Ring and August Yale, the relock from the keypad does not require more than 1 second and is triggered by putting any button (and not just the cancel button in Eufy’s case).
      Eufy should want to make relocking the door as easy and quick as possible- not force your use to find the cancel button and hold it down for 3 seconds for your door to relock!!!

    I think the point of the delay when pressing the keypad lock button, is that, for most people, this would be the least common way to lock the door and could somewhat easily be touched by mistake. For me, one of the main features of this lock is its ability to detect when the door is closed and then lock.

  • @mikeyfl

    Any updates on this lock or continued use? Do we know if they improve any of those features or added integrations such as new Homebase 3?

  • @ohhmiller
    @ohhmiller 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Maybe the long(er) press to lock is to avoid accidentally locking it, which would waste more time than 2/3 seconds it takes to press the button. Good review. 👍

    • @elivasquez5976
      @elivasquez5976 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A quicker way to lock it is to simply use your finger as if you were opening it. Simply lay your finger on the sensor and it will lock it.

    Would be interested in having a doorbell cam and smart lock integrated as one. Most people have a door bell too for their front door but I'm thinking for a side door (like on the side of your garage, etc.) where you wouldn't necessarily need a door bell but it might be handy and having a (or another) camera would be nice too. The other possible issue might be where you have a screen door that could block the camera - at any rate it would be a nice option to have this as a combo. The security stickers they ship with this lock kind of made me think it may include a camera and there does appear to be a light sensor (probably for they keypad backlight).

    the problem with smart locks like these is that is if you have any kind of weather stripping around your door to prevent AC leaks, it usually do not allow you to lock the door unless you push on it a little, specially in winter when the frame expands due to the the cold weather because the wood frame expands and contracts.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I do have to adjust my front door once or twice a year because of the contraction and expansion. You can always adjust for the smart lock to work properly and your weather stripping intact. This is the reason why I test for jam/block notification because when I start receiving those alerts... that means I need to look and adjust the hinges etc... on my door.

Sometimes I want to go for a run and don’t want to take anything else and would like to be able to open with the touch of a button. I can. Do that with my indoor u-tec UL3 BT door lock using Bluetooth. Or maybe setting up a routine with a smart sensor, if you active the garage door, then the door automatically unlocks to your house? Can this be deadlocked both for entry & exit? replacing a keyed deadbolt with a smart lock that allows exit is a decrease in security as anyone can gain entry via an easy entry and exit through your front/main door with this on it. Does it also have lockdown/privacy mode so when enabled acts as a lock latch (no entry allowed at all)?

      I've been using a Schlage Z-wave controlled touchscreen lock for a number of years now and it has been working great. It integrates with Samsung Smartthings and can be accessed and controlled through the Smartthings app anywhere I have Internet access. The feature set is similar to this Eufy lock and so I'm not sure why you wouldn't feel confident using a lock like this. Since it uses physical keys as a backup, it is every bit as secure (or unsecure) as any other traditional deadbolt lock.

If I did want to give somebody access to my house id be happier to just give out a key. Pretty much anything that's connected to the internet is hackable unfortunately, so chances are if these locks become more frequent there will undoubtedly be a point where average criminals can use this to their advantages.....yes, a door lock can be picked, but it also takes time, personally I changed the barrells on my doors for more awkward ones to pick. • @LifeHackster

      That's not suppose to happen. If you turn it off it needs to be Off... One explanation and this also happens to Ring cameras is that the status light turns ON when it is updating... but when it is OFF it needs to be OFF though.

But I asked their AI chat support and it answered that it should have no problem with 80mm thick door. I’ve been looking online for any one who’s tried it but have had no luck so far. Wish they added a sensor to know whether the door is in a closed position. The “geomagnetic sensor” something and calibration does not work. Meaning the deadbolt will lock even if the door is open as per settting, and if it will hit the door frame if someone accidentaly try to close it.
