It's been a year. Did the battery hold up?
@@relativityboy i want to know to
I am looking into get another smart lock for my home and I came across your video. It was super detailed and I appreciate the time you took to go over the features. Based on your video I am definitely purchasing this for my home. Thank you making my decision much easier 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Awesome thorough review of installation and rundown of all features. 🤜🤛 Receiving mine tomorrow and now I’m up on game thanks to you brotha!
Thank you for showing how to get the key lock cover off. I was prompted to recharge my battery recently after only 3 months. I did not charge the battery when I installed the lock. My overall experience with the lock has been fantastic. I appreciate you mentioning the camera because I am consider the Eufy cameras as well.
I like how he said “ I like playing with this stuff “😃 me too
Great thorough video- thanks for sharing. This is comprehensive and logical for everyday users. Answers all the questions I had as well.
Great tutorial! Got mine installed after watching your video , thanks for the help!
Thanks for your video, it was very detailed and very clear, just bought this unit. Thanks again!
Just bought one. Can’t wait to install it!
Fantastic video, answered all my questions! 🤝🏽
This was really helpful! You did an awesome job explaining how to install and set up the app. Well done!
Glad it was helpful!
Just bought one on yesterday after saw other reviews and now wait for the shipping. I love this lock and hope it did the job nicely as expected.
You’ll be pretty happy with it. I’m really impressed with this lock.
Excellent information, well done!
Thanks for your demo and clear instructions/explanation. So good. Thank You!!
You are so welcome!
Excellent detailed explanation.
I am starting to install this smartlock. There are numerous helpful pieces of information here. One thing I have encountered that is difficult is the setting up of the app.
Maybe a pre install video regarding the installation of the app?
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
thanks great video
Nice video and thank you for taking the time - once issue that would concern me is unlike a normal lock which is basically flat on the outside especially WHAT is to stop someone with a BIG hammer was to hit the top of it and break it from the door to have access to the bolt?
The case on these is machined out of aluminum so it would take a fair amount of work to smash it apart. While it could be done, if you wanted to break into a house you wouldn't make the scene up front with a sledge, you'd go around the side and come in through a window.
SO GOOD
Ha! I did t see the steps when I opened mine up. Thanks
Hi, nice video. How many keys do you get with it?
Thanks
Thanks heaps
we are planning to replace the front door, can we remove the smart lock from our old door and install onto our new door? thanks
You should get Eufy doorbell as well, I got one installed it works much better than Ring never missed a face recording.
I’ve got it, and love it!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you know if the lock is weatherproof on both sides? That is to say, can also the inside part of the lock be also on an exterior door which may receive rain?
I can't say for sure, but I just looked at mine and I would assume it isn't. There isn't a seal or gasket around the battery compartment cover.
How would I go about installing ont into a commercial aluminum door?
2001 space odissey. nice video
How thick does the door have to be? What are the minimum and maximum thicknesses? TIA
Great video, thanks. My existing door lock is very loud while opening and closing. I could barely hear this one during your video. Can you comment on the sound during operation. Thanks
You can definitely hear it, but it isn’t really noticeable. I’ve had other locks that are louder.
I have trouble get it connected with Google Home. Are you able to do so?
Hey do you have any idea if this smart lock will fit on an 80mm thick door?😅 because per Eufy customer service and their specifications sheet, it will only fit on the standard 2 1/8” doors. But I asked their AI chat support and it answered that it should have no problem with 80mm thick door. I’ve been looking online for any one who’s tried it but have had no luck so far. Would greatly appreciate it if you can answer my questions🙏🏼
Great in depth review but what are your thoughts on there only being TWO screws that hold the outdoor and indoor pieces together? Should that be a concern? Eufy should've at least put another screw near the top provide a more secure attachment.
It’s all machined aluminum, it holds tight and doesn’t flex at all.

Thanks. I was on the fence with this and the Lockly Vision but since the Lockly Vision has all of the bells and whistles except for motion sensors and a logically placed print reader ( located on the side ), I decided to go with the eufy.
How often does your lock lose connectivity? I have mine set to lock instantly after the door closes. At times it takes close to three minutes to lock on its own
2001: A Space Odyssey. An excellent informational video.
Got it!
My Bluetooth won't connect. Do charge battery before installing
I've been eye balling this for a while, and finally got my new door, but when going to buy it I saw 100s of reviews for bad batteries that don't last much longer than a few weeks. Is this just the case for all of the locks? Or are there just a lot of defective units?
I have two of the devices that use this battery, haven’t had any issues. My understanding was they had some issues with the first batch of batteries but anything you buy now should be fine.
Wait do you live in Utah? Great show thanks.
Nope 😄
Nice review!! Is it poosible to setup this lock without wi-fi at first? and then add the wifi later?
Not on this one, all the communication is though Wi-Fi.
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks for the reply! Do you know if I can just use it as a normal lock with the physical key first if I don’t have Wi-Fi at the time of installation?
Do you still have it and/or like it? Has the lack on a sensor to detect whether the door is closed or not been an issue? I'm concerned that I could remotely lock the door while in fact it is wide open
That’s really the only issue that I’ve had with it, it does try to lock itself when the door is in the open position. Other than that I love this thing
Looking at getting one, do you find it unsafe having to leave the lock on the handle unlocked? Or do you lock the deadbolt as well as the handle lock?
I only have a deadbolt, a deadbolt is much more secure than a handle lock.
Great stash😂
Heck yea!
can you expire the passcode once its been assigned? I'm thinking about using this for airbnb.
Yes, you can. You can assign passcodes to a single person and either delete them when they’re done or set an expiration date.
Dumb question !. If my door opens from the right side (not the left side like in the video), Will the lock work as well ?
Yes, these are set up so you can flip them for right open and left open doors.
🤔 I notice these smart locks make working with the dead bolt easier, but what about the typical secondary lock on the actual door handle? If this door handle isn’t also smart, then you’ll still need a key.
I’m surprised I didn’t notice this watching other videos - I think they had a setup where the ONLY lock on the front door was the deadlock.
So am I right in saying that in order to achieve full convenience of these smart locks, you need to sacrifice the lock in your door handle??
You are correct, you would be only using the deadbolt.
Do you need to have the wifi installed before you are able to set it up?
Yes, you do.
My door has a single-sided deadbolt above the keyed deadbolt. How would you deal with the cavity after removing the single-sided deadbolt? This smart lock only covers half of the hole. UltraLoq and Lockley both have cover plates for this problem, but Eufy does not...
You can pick up door whole cover plates on Amazon or at most local hardware stores.
@@DoItYourselfDad I've looked those up, but the problem with the ones I've seen do not sit flush...and since the smart lock is covering half the hole, it needs to be flush to seat properly.
does it have an auto unlock / lock feature? or do you have to scan, code, app it everytime?
You can set up to automatically lock the door after it’s been closed, you can also set a delay.
@@DoItYourselfDad thanks - I am looking for more of a geofencing lock. One that will lock or unlock when you get outside a set proximity
How does this compare to the Wyze lock?
This one replaces the whole lock, the Wyze lock adapts to your existing locks. The Wyze lock has an external keypad, this one is integrated thumb print scanner.
Is it possible to make use of the existing deadbolt and only install the inside and outside portion of the smart lock in place? Is the piece of metal that goes through the lock going to work with other deadbolts?
With this using, no, there isn’t a way to adapt it to another deadbolt. If your looking for one that uses your existing deadbolt check this one out: th-cam.com/video/K8Lma9ypZ-4/w-d-xo.html
I think I saw that it also has a usb c connector on the bottom in case the battery dies for a backup power source. Can you verify that or is that a different model?
It does have a USB type C port, but Im not sure what it's for.
@@DoItYourselfDad it’s in case the battery dies you can power it up and open it with a usb c cable and power source
Does it lock/unlock via geo fencing with your phones?
Eufy does have geofencing, but I haven’t played around with it so I can’t speak to how it works or if it works with the locks.
For some reason my dead old screws don’t go all the way in. Any work around
Sounds like you may have a thicker door, try contacting Eufy, I've heard they can send out longer screws for thicker doors. If not I know you can buy longer screws at your local hardware store.
@@DoItYourselfDad the door is of standard size. I notice when I screw in the deadbolt screws that they are not straight and do not go in completely. I can’t turn the screw any tighter without stripping it. I’m not sure if it’s a defect in the threads of the exterior box
how is the lock so far? how long does battery last?
Love it, it’s been really nice with house-sitters when we’ve been out of town. It goes 4-6 months between recharged and gives you plenty of warning (about two weeks) until it’s dead.
@@DoItYourselfDad that nice as i saw quite number of amazon review says that the battery only last 3 weeks that draws me back a little bit
I think a lot of people setup the lock, and put the battery in it without charging it. Out of the box there’s enough juice to set it up and run it, but it’s not close to full.
i cant get passed the wifi connection setup,..
How close are you to the router during setup?
can I always keep it locked with my phone in case my kid trying to go outside?
Not with these, when my daughter was little we put a slide lock at the top of the door for exactly this reason.
Is this thing still working good?
Yup, still working like a champ.
HAL, Open the door, Hal. No Dave.....
When people tell you to move to a safer neighborhood what they fail to realize you’ll be in proactive opposed to reactive you don’t wait to something bad happen you put things in place to prevent and deter bad things from happening. People need to stop hating you didn’t foreskin watch your video I need to get a life.
What is the app
Eufy Security
Probably not a good idea to try to show the key bitting on video. Good thing the camera never really focused.
“Close the pod bay doors”
2001 a space odyssey
BINGO!
HAL9000 goodbot.
Thank you for all the great info! Let's go Brandon.
I got one 2 week ago the battery doesn't last that long i don't like it 😡😡😡😡
If it’s dying that fast contact eufy, Mine lasts about 6 months.
Unlike many, you've made an extremely helpful video for folks -- compliments! I might suggest clarification regarding your explanation of "Scramble Password" -- a feature designed to stop one from discerning your password by watching you enter it. It might be misleading to viewers when you said, "....it means you can change it every time." It more accurately means you can embed your password in additional digits.
For example, if your actual password were, say, 43855, you can depress additional digits before or after (up to 12 total); and so long as you INCLUDE 43855 in your sequence, your door will unlock. For example, depressing 694343855122 [or xxxx43855xxx] is the "scrambling" that will confound onlookers and still open your door. Easy-peasy, right?!
Of course, this is still not as 100% foolproof as the Lockley Secure lock's method (which randomizes positions of numbers) but is nonetheless much better than a static keypad that allows only the entry of your actual password, no more and no less.
