What's your choice in the subcompact crossover segment? What else are you cross-shopping?

The Mazda CX-30 is a wonderful car. I got mine two months ago. Top trim in the deep crystal blue color. I love it! Especially the 12-speaker Bose audio system, the adaptive LED headlights, the 360 degree camera, the electric tailgate and the heated steering wheel. Love the infotainment system. Love the head-up display. 😍 Fantastic car! Great value for the price. And it looks beautiful and stylish, too. ❤️

Thanks so much for this review. I'm trying to decide on buying a CX-30 and your review is the best I've seen, really gives a real life view of the car. Thank you!

that red with mazda's suble geometry...almost a liquid moving thing as angles and light change. Think its stunning.

Hello from Greece ! Nice video and presentation. Great car but at some points outdated I would say, 4-5 years aftere its presentation this CX-30 should had enjoyed some kind of face lift or updates ... to be in line with competition, i.e its dashboard could be updated to full digital like the new CX-90 ... and a number of other things could be changed to more fresh modern ... see what Nissan does with Qashqai ... to keep it competitive in a very demanding market segment. In this respect Mazda has fallen behind ... they could have updated the car which is a very very good car anyway but it lacks modern elements inside and outside (i.e no ambient lighting, full digital dashboard, better software in the central touchscreen with more modern graphics etc ...)

Thank you! I think it's just nearing the end of its life cycle, and will be updated in the next few years, but if the CX-90 is any indication, I don't expect a digital dash or better touch screen. It still remains as one of the more fun cars in the segment, especially for the price point. But certainly not for everyone.

I prefer compact & subcompact vehicles, unlike most of the U.S. demographic these days, & would still choose my 2-year old 2022 CX-30 CE over any other ICE Crossover in its size/price segment available in the USA today (2024). I would also still choose my 2022 CX-30 CE over a 2024 one of the same type because my 2022 doesn't have cylinder-deactivation engine tech in it (they added it back to the CX-30 with the model-year 2023+ non-turbo CX-30's). Other than that I would consider the subcompact Lexus LBX Hybrid if they ever released it in the USA, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Yeah I know they've had some issues with cylinder deactivation in the past. I'm hoping they've ironed those out, but I need to look into that more. Is there a reason you'd consider the LBX but not the UX? Just curious

@@GearboxCarReviewsThe styling of the UX towards the rear really turns me off personally & it also looks more like a highly-stylized station wagon than a crossover IMO. So, basically it's just the styling/design that aren't my taste when in comes to the UX. The look & size/stance of the LBX is much more my taste in that regard.

I'd really like a Made in Japan Spirit Racing CX-30 or hybrid CX-30 at the very least

I'd love to see that, but I can't imagine it would sell super well. The sort of hot hatchy subcompact crossover market just isn't big enough. If anything, I'd think they'd do a Spirit Racing Mazda3. A hybrid CX-30 would be great though

3rd row in the cx-30 is a hidden achievement

      Ha! Not a 3rd row I want to unlock. It'd be worse than a 2+2's 3rd row
