Glorious. Great emotion is given to a beautiful aria. Coincidentally released on TH-cam on the day Cecilia Bartoli was meant to open in Gulio Cesare at La Scala - what a shame that's not to be.

This is excellent. It's so different from the other versions. I prefer Bartoli's version and it's in the right key! Her breath control is phenomenal! From 0:46 to 1:06 is done is a single breath. Stupendous performance!

I guess everyone who is saying the disguise is a gimmick or 'distracting' has forgotten that this music was written for a countertenor. This kind of playful gender-swapping has always been part of it opera too. It is fun and I love it!

Es imposible que aun castrado le saliera bigotes y barba por la falta de androgenos, lo mismo que impedía el desarrollo de la laringe.
Vous avez quand même tous remarqué que l'Alto Giove de Cecilia dure 2 fois moins longtemps que celui de Fagioli , avec mises en scène spectaculaires, ça lui correspond mieux . Son chant est vif, rapide et très ornementé, sa voix ne tiendrait pas sur les durées autrement .....Mais quel succès au final ! Alors pourquoi s'en priver ?

She's extremely famous and successful. I think she's earned the right to pull any "gimmicks" that she wants.
