The Sopranos introduced me to this beautiful song and it's now my favorite. . That scene with Carmela admiring the Madonna and Child painting and the sweet sound of this opera in the background, just brought me to tears.
Sposa son disprezzata. (I am a wife and I am scorned.) What does it mean in the context of that episode of the Sopranos ? Soprano gives Paulie a filthy look of disgust and says you've got mayonnaise on your mouth. The sort of thing that a disgusted husband may say to a slob wife he's sick of. The loyal ever faithful but sloppy Paulie is a scorned wife, presumably like Carmela Soprano. Paulie is Tony's "professional" wife. There are many sad Italian baroque arias. I'm guessing this one is significant because of the lyrics and story context. Interesting choice. It is from La Merope by Giacomelli and the aria was written for a castrato. It was first performed by the famous Farinelli. The opera has never been recorded in full. I suspect there may be real layers to Sopranos post production. David Chase : find me a beautiful aria sung by a guy who had his nuts cut off. Paulie looks nervous at the end of the Pine Barren episode. 😮😮 The scorned wife theme turns up much more famously in Mozart's Figaro, where the Comtessa is scorned by Almaviva the count, while he chases servant girls like Suzanna.
Melfi: “I think we should discuss what attracted you to Gloria in the first place. And Irina before her. Depressive personality. Unstable. Impossible to please. Does that remind you of any other woman?” Tony: *pauses for a second, then shrugs.*
She’s well compensated. She and her husband live in one of the richest and most exclusive communities in the world.😊 It’s in Switzerland somewhere, and they also have a house in Rome.

No. The car wasn’t there. He had killed Chechens in Russia, not Czechoslovakians. He was like a top of the line soldier. When Bobby and Tony pull into where the car had been, you know. That money was still in the car. And then it switches to the middle age paintings at the Met with Carmela and Meadow,. Same tune. She recorded this years ago. Cecil Bartoli.

@@brendanburgess2071 well I perceived your comment as affirmation of an idea I have about the World being composed of interconnected pairs of opposites or the poles of existence with an infinite number of variables in between. that's what makes Life a 'mystery' drama that we express in all of our Art. it seems as if the sole goal of life is Art. without the tension of opposition, none of it would be possible. was that too much??

It's 2020 and I just watched "Pine Barrens". My god The Sopranos is the best show ever and it's not even close.

It's even funnier cuz tony said "interior ministries" or some shit then pauly is like. "yeah interior decorator."
This never gets old!😅🤣

and the beginning of the following episode, "Amour Fou", both of which are among my favorite episodes of the series.
Here after finishing watching the Sopranos episode "Pine Barrens" for the first time. Definitely my favorite of season 3.

This scene make me feel sad
Vivaldi is my favourite composer and then to hear Cecilia sing this beautiful emotional song: it is the very best !
Jeannette Snebab No es de Vivaldi sino de Gasparini. Vivaldi sólo adaptó esta aria para su creación .
Jeannette Snebab he's not Vivaldi but GEMINIANO GIACOMELLI early '700
Geminiano Giacomelli composed this not vivaldi
Mine too.
It's amazing what music can do for your soul, when placed in the gentle hands of an angel
Yes indeed
It's the little things and the breath control that amazes me with Cicilias voice
This woman should be more adored -what a voice!
She’s well compensated. She and her husband live in one of the richest and most exclusive communities in the world.😊 It’s in Switzerland somewhere, and they also have a house in Rome.
Une pure merveille ! Antonio Vivaldi est un géant ! ❤❤
i'm anything but religious, but i would bet anything this is what an angel would sound like. Just WOW
Exactly 🖤
I believe this was her debut album, and made her an instant star. Her interpretations, as always, are sublime!!!

That final look Paulie gives the Pine Barrens is the funniest shit.
