    Wow, I'm impressed! I will take a look at the entire Incra system for doing routing work. The plate adj. feature is a major improvement over the actual Jessem lift as offered from them & the inserts are super user friendly on this setup. Somebody had their thinking cap on for a change!

    Guy, Thank you! I have been on the fence about purchasing a new lift and table and this demo just convinced me to go ahead with the Incra. The Jessem built lift, mag rings, and downdraft box all make perfect sense. Again, thanks!

    Hey Guy! Thanks for this video. I have an Incra "plate" and I did not like leveling the insert. I'm been looking at the Jessem rout-r-lift with the red inserts that do not need adjusting. But after seeing the clean sweep inserts, I'm sold!! I have cleaning up the mess from dados.

    Thanks Guy for all your videos, they are very informative, I just picked up my TS LS joinery system yesterday and I purchased the clean sweep and the Master Lift II. And a.new Porter Cable 3.5 HP router motor. I am excited to get to making precise cuts and joinery.
    I would to see more videos using this system.
    I feel like I have an extremely well designed and precision tool in my quest to make Saw dust.
    And yes I am drinking the Incra Cool Aid and it is very good.

      I have that system on order. Have you made a cabinet under the router table? I was wondering how to do that considering it's not a stand alone router table set up. Also do you have the router table on the left or right of the table saw bkade?

    Guy, thanks for this video! I’ve stumbled around trying to figure out what router Lift to buy for sometime now. Your video helps! The only difference I can see between the Incra Lift and the JessEm Lift is the Magna-Lock slotted insert rings for improved dust collection. Like you, I’m more interested in controlling the the mess, especially for cutting blind dados and box joints. Thanks to you, I’ll be ordering the Lift today. Keep up the good work!!!

    • @rbrown2925
      @rbrown2925 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few more differences. The Jessem also has four bolt holes in the corners for fastening the lift to at least the Jessem Mast-R-Top table. From the top's manual: "...the Mast-R-Plate, Mast-R-Lift, or Rout-R-Lift FX can be secured by inserting a bolt through the top of the plate or lift then screwing the bolt into the corresponding corner hole in the table opening... This will secure the lift or plate from moving during operation."
      Instead, the Incra lift has a cam lock screw in the rear left corner to keep the lift from moving (roughly where one of the bolt holes is in the Jessem).
      Also, I've read the leveling screw holes aren't in exactly the same locations, which raises an issue when installing a Jessem lift in an Incra table. As best I can tell, according to bliss-junkie at www.routerforums.com/table-mounted-routing/31021-mast-r-lift-ii-incra-router-table.html, the holes in the Jessem lift don't provide access to the Incra table's built-in plate leveling screws. I'm sure it had to be that way, too...yeah...

    You’re making really cool videos. I don’t really care if you’re paid by Indra or not. If you’re not you probably should be as no one else online is showing off what the Incra products can do. Not in high res anyway. I’m considering an Incra router setup for my next small shop tool but was worried it was all too complicated. You are really helping me see that it’s not too too complicated. Looking forward to more videos in more depth on Incra products. Thanks.

    That is a jam packed feature rich system! I sometimes wonder if we woodworkers get a little carried away with sawdust and chip collection. Thanks Brian, and yes, it is a good system. I agree that we can be a little anal at times about dust collection. For me, I just really want to keep my shop as clean as possible. 1. I hate cleaning up 2. I have to move everything over to one side every night so my wife can park in the garage. the less I have to clean up the better :)

    I think it's great to be paid by a tool company and use that so we can view the content for free. I really like your Chanel. I see people calling this a "review" though and I don't think that's what it is? If I am wrong I'll be happy to be corrected but if it is a paid endorsement I think you should say so. Just my thoughts and I hope the sponsorship and endorsements keep rolling in as your information and workmanship is fantastic.

    • @GuysShop
      @GuysShop  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thanks Leroy. And no, it's not a review. It is however a video made for Incra that they own to use as they see fit, so I can't really say anything about a paid endorsement. That being said, I have owned most of the Incra products I have in my shop well before they were a sponsor, and have been using their products for almost 20 years now. I would not be "endorsing" their product if I truly didn't believe in it.

    I see your Festool CT sitting there and expect that's not what you're using as a dust collector? I have a table saw, 14" band saw, miter saw, router table, and a planer. That leaves enough floor space left for a shop vac and I'm not sure what the options are for effective dust collection in a small space. Thinking of a Festool CT, with the understanding that it won't be as effective with the 4 inch discharges on the Incra router table, band saw, and table saw. Ideas?

    Great video. Makes me wish I bought the Incra version instead. Jessem really made many improvements for them. In particular I like the cam lock for the insert plate and the ability to zero the dial indicator. The magnetic leveling plates are also really nice.
    When you did the dust collection demo with and without the special plates, did you have the vacuum running underneath the router table when you ran the wood over the plate without the additional holes?

    • @GuysShop
      @GuysShop  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Marty. Have you tried to break free the the dial? It should be the same os the Incra. It is just an o ring that holds it in place. Try a drop of oil and see if that helps. And yes, the DC was on for the first pass. Those rings really make a huge difference with a cut like this. The dust shooting forward is going right into the front "vent" of the Clean Sweep ring. It is dramatic how much they help.

    • @MartyBacke
      @MartyBacke 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Guy. I'll spend some time trying to break the dial free. It would certainly be handy to calibrate it. You've got the good setup. Unfortunately I'll be 'making do' with mine since it would be an expensive proposition to upgrade. There's always something new around the corner :-)

    The router is effectively closed inside a box full of dust. All traditional hand held routers draw air in through the top and out through the base. Mostly.
    I would like to know just what percentage of dust passes through the router windings.
    My Festool OF2200 expels the air through the sides, leaving the dust extraction unhindered inside the shroud in the base

    Guy: Super videos! I am now a subscriber! When you were putting together the whole shebang, did you order a "package" from Incra? Hello Guy. Great video and very helpful. I've heard some people complain that when the enclose the router in a homemade box like the Clean Sweep or another brand the have router overheating issues. But they didn't have a router ring like the magnetic Incra ring inserts. Have you had any overheating issues?
    Also, its to bad Jessem doesn't have a program to retrofit router plates to fit their magnetic clean sweep rings. I would send my Jessem Masterlift back to them in a heartbeat for that. Thanks again for the video's. I always learn something.
    Ron

    • @GuysShop
      @GuysShop  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ron. I had a shop made box on my last router table also for years. I have never had any issues with the router overheating. I don't think it has anything to do with the rings on top. If you have good dust collection hooked up to it, air will will be drawn in and across the router to help keep it cool.

  • @daleellington1840
    @daleellington1840 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Guy, how do you split the percentage of vacuum between the fence port and the bottom cabinet. Do you regulate with blast gates? Does your router overheat? I've been considering this for a while, but my lift is Jessem so I'll need to modify the ring inserts that I have. Thanks for the video.

    • @GuysShop

    Great video and I learned a couple of things about my Incra set up, which is identical, I didn't know. I do have one question about your Jessem Guides set up on your Incra table saw in the background. I also have that setup but after mounting my plate on the blocks from Incra I find the plate is proud of the Incra fence so with tall stock the stock registers on the mounting plate rather than the fence. Sorry to hijack but wondered if you have that problem? Bill

    • @GuysShop
      @GuysShop  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bill. No, I don't have that issue. Mine sits behind the edge of the fence enough so it doesn't get in the way of anything. I would definitely check the instructions and the installation again.

      @Putttn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

If that doesn't work, can use something very thin to pry it up. There's an o-ring under there that's a tight fit, so until it wears in a bit, it will be tough to move. They are very honest and have a good reputation.

    Incra told me to add a shut off to the dust collection on the wonder fence and said don't use the collection from both the fence and from below the clean sweep 4" vent below. My question is do ever use both vents or do you use the fence ventilation for edge work and then shut that off when you to the cut you made in the video using the clean sweep vent only?

    Excellent product but for the same money, and I think it would be the same, once you've invested in all the stuff to make this a nice workstation, it would make so much more sense to buy a 3hp or 5hp tilting spindle grizzly shaper. The cost is going to be right at the same and you get so much more with that shaper. That's one of my next purchases..

    • @GuysShop

      You are correct about the $'s being close. However for a hobbyist like me, having the Incra fence on this table and the lift makes a lot of sense also. I have looked at shapers, and might get one someday if I can find a good deal on craigslist. However they are few and far between.

      This is late, but it might be some help. Look for the AUKTools V3 router from woodworkersworkshop.co.uk. This is a 230V 50Hz 2.4HP variable speed router that fits perfectly in the Incra Mast-R-Lift II using the standard 1A block setting.

    Estando la fresadora hacia arriba no cabe la posibilidad de que se le meta aserrín o virutas dentro del colector del motor y se pueda quemar o es que la fresadora es especial preparada para poder utilizarla en el sentido inverso es decir hacia arriba

    it's certainly an impressing tool, but (and i'm not trying to troll here!) is this amount of precision really necessary if you work with wood? I mean, considering the amount wood grows and shrinks under environmental conditions, do you really need .001 precision? it seems kinda overkill and more akin to the world of metal working, cnc machining etc. The aspect of repeatability i do get, though.

    • @danray104
      @danray104 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, some of wood moves more than others, but so does metal. Accuracy in joinery is always a priority. 3 thousandths is the difference between a tight joint and a not-so-tight joint, especially in dense woods

    that is NOT the way to mount a bit - please make SURE you secure the bit as LOW AS POSSIBLE into the collet ... CRITICAL not only for your safety but for a cleaner cut too

    • @rbrown2925
      @rbrown2925 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The folks at Jessem disagree according to these bullets from the ROUTER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS section of the Jessem Mast-R-Lift II manual:
      •Be sure that at least 3/4 of the shank length is inserted securely in the router collet.
      •Never bottom out the bit in the collet. Allow 1/8”clearance between shank and bottom of collet.
      It's news to me and probably lots of folks.

    • @PhillipsTravels
      @PhillipsTravels 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rbrown2925 The reason you never bottom a bit out is that it could cause the collet to grip only at the bottom and not along the full shank length, if it does the bit can fly out in use. By having a gap you ensure the collet grips evenly and well along the whole shank contact area.

    • @thomasarussellsr
      @thomasarussellsr 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know about rich, but you have to be richer than me, I have only $735/month coming in on a disability check. I can't wait until I'm done with college and can get back into the workforce. Teaching may not pay what its worth, but it is 5 times what I'm getting now. Sometimes being a disabled veteran really sucks. Of course I'd have to get the router motor and table before I could even use these upgrades, so way more than $350, especially with the dust collection system too. I have a twelve year old Home Depot wet/dry vac. But we can still dream.

    • @GuysShop

      Just saying, there are folks out here where that price, though it may be meager for many, puts the product out of reach in our current situation. At my income I would be homeless if my house and vehicle weren't paid off. Utilities, food and monthly living expences often outweigh the income. I have lost so many tools to pawn shops just to get by that it is really sad to think about. Fortunately, most of those were really not needed since I don't (can't) do that kind of work anymore do to the disability. I was not saying you were rich, just that rich is a relative term. There are always people out there who are at a level much worse than youself or even myself. At least I have a roof and food. (even if only one meal per day, I eat every day)
      God bless and thank you for fueling my dreams with this review.
