  • Our leopard sitting by sheer chance, was witnessed after a grass fire that had been through the area some days earlier and I think the leopard had found the impala either badly burnt or had perished in the fire. We could see that the leopard had just recently found the impala and after resting, decided to cart the impala off to a safer position in a nearby tree.
Leopards are rarely spotted in the Kruger National Park. They are shy, lonely cats who rely largely on camouflage to avoid detection by humans seeking to view them and their prey.
Another reason this mysterious cat is rarely seen is that it is more active at night or early in the morning, sleeping during the day behind dense vegetation or laying in trees.
The leopard is a member of the prestigious Big 5, which includes elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, and, of course, leopards.
When a leopard makes a kill, they will typically pull their prey up into a tree, making it impossible, or at least very difficult, for hyena, lion and other animals and birds to get access to the kill.
Once in a tree, the leopard can eat at leisure and will often feast on antelope such as an impala for a number of days. After dragging the fully grown impala into a tree demonstrates a leopard’s enormous strength. In fact, pound for pound, there is no stronger big cat in Kruger National Park.

Who planed and started the veld fires in the Kruger National Park areas?
Did it really matters…the damage to nature? Insects, turtles, birds, plants, and so much more…😪
Who can help with education on this subject? As soon as possible, please!
