    I like the way Dan always asks most of the real world Direct questions and doesn't let go until he gets the answer.

    I'd love one of these configurations in a two seat version with 50 gallon fuel capacity, a Rotax four stroke engine and a large Fowler flap to allow high speed efficient cruise but also low stall speed for grass strip operation.

    Cool concept! I like the twin tail booms. Wish the gear cranked up but can't have everything eh.

    I had forgotten about this. A full part 103 plane. Not bad. Shame about the speed limit. I think they could relax that a bit if only they hold on to the stall speed. And maybe FAA could cobble together a video pilot's course of an hour or two that you can watch a couple of times so people are armed with understanding of relevant aircraft concepts and dangers. No test, just the education and recommendation that it's very good to know. Maybe rewatch it once a year. It's great to loosen some bureaucracy and costs but no reason pilots shouldn't know what they are doing. Video allows us free effective education these days. Can be just as good or better than exam of the past.

    Can anyone provide information on the current status and future plans for the Song aircraft and Melody Aircraft? Melody's web site is up, but does not appear to have been updated since 2016. I'd like to know if the aircraft is available, and whether there is a US representative.

    It's usually only old people that are in aviation, because it's the old people that can afford these very expensive aircraft, it's too bad us younger people can't get into this too.

    So this is pretty cool, and it's though I've seen it before. Is this not a Gas Powered version of the ElectraFlyer-ULS that I believe You Reviewed in an earlier Post. They look as though they are Twins? Is this the same Craft, same Company, it's definately the exact design as the Electric I've seen earlier. Am I wrong? Sure looks the same.. ;)

    • @cluelessbeekeeping1322
      @cluelessbeekeeping1322 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only things that matter are top speed & weight. It fits both. You can control the top speed by using a particular pitch on the prop (a climbing prop), the weight is ...well, the weight.

    Very nice aircraft. Your design looks identical to the Electro Flyer ULS except that airplane is fully electric. Which came first? Who copied who? I'm guessing the electric plane was based on your design and came after the Song because the airframe was ideal for the electric motor/battery pack installation. How many are sold and flying in the US? Are there any used models available? The $45K is still steep for some of us recreational flyers.

  • @DanFrederiksen
    @DanFrederiksen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like sleek and efficient, not a fan of the price.
    It really should be possible to make minimal single seaters dirt cheap. But I guess the low stall speed UL requirements makes the construction more expensive. A shorter wing and higher speed would be easier.

    @TD402dd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Probably the safest airplane ever built. Anything that glides allows the pilot to return to the earth without motor power. It is necessary for the new pilot to learn how to glide, which isn't that easy to learn.

      That's why I bought one. But I ran into money trouble. Mine is #8. $39K with Polini and fixed prop, enclosed Polaris tandem wheels trailer. I brought it to CA from his place in Alberta. What I really want is his place, with airstrip. judaswasjames[at]aol.com

      Since I have flown from Ontario Canada to Lakeland Florida in an ultralight, (which is what this is) and know of several others that have done cross country flights I would have to disagree. While they aren't the fastest, they do make for very enjoyable flight time.

    • @Aviator168
      @Aviator168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ber Murillo You have to understand that 20hp engine consumes less than 1 gallon of fuel per hour. With 5 gallons of fuel, the plane has a maximum range of 300 miles and than some. That's going distance for a lot of people.

    i guess if you consider 50 grand for a toy as no big deal. But I'd get bored with it like I did scuba diving......... a lot of hassle for the same experience over and over.
