- KO Classic - 20th Anniversary
Back in 2005, the KO Classic Memorial Surf Competition was started to the honour the memory of two friends, Louise O’Mara and Darren Kokkin. It is a team event where surfers from the Nelson Bay Area to the Central Coast are invited to form a team and take part. The contest was more competitive in the early days and has since mellowed. The event evolved to have a retro theme, where old style single fins and twin fin surfboards are ridden and wearing fashion from the same era is encouraged. All funds raised by the event go to a local charity.
