I’m learning with every demo you publish. I’m in a college level oil painting class now, and it’s like dragging a train with my gums. I appreciate your humor, candor, and how easy you make this look, but you give real, useful, boot-on-the-ground direction, and I’m grateful to you for it. I’ve wanted to learn this all my life. I’m 50 this year, and I’m enjoying the process-thank you.
I have been painting for ten years since I retired and have watched many tutorials. Yours are the most useful I have seen in all that time. Thank you for your calm enlightened way of working and sharing your talent.
I could watch and listen to your lessons all day long. But then I’d never get to my canvas! 😁 Thank you for showing us how to loosen up and not get fixed on details. I’m very detail oriented, which is fine at times. But landscapes have always eluded me because of this tendency. Now I can tackle a landscape unafraid!
I’ve just come across your work it’s amazing ! I’m starting to Learn oil paints now and will be trying to reproduce your work as a start then add my own techniques and style to it and have some fun like you , and hopefully sell a few prices for low money if I could achieve that that would be the dream 💭 I would officially call my self an artist 👩🎨
I could watch and listen to u all day! But now I’m going to my studio and start creating...oops....paper towels...thank u sir for the inspiration to create...I live here on the south coast of the USA...about 1 mile from the Atlantic...I sit there many morning at 5:00 🕔 and watch the sun come up! Guess I’m looking towards Africa...France I’d have to look north...well England in the way but u get my meaning...ur countryside is picturesque....very inspirational and yes I see it in ur work...blessings to u...
I tried your technique in oils for the first time yesterday. I love the results. I appreciate the small painting example because I paint small paintings. Paintings do paint themselves I just had to move out of my own way. Thank you so much!
Iv been painting around 10 years with acrylics but I really want to do oil painting. So iv bought wood boards and I'm ready. These tuturials really help to show the difference between acrylic and oil. I'm 61 and looking forward to trying oils.
I just did the first painting with a different landscape, sea coming into a river( or the river emptying into the sea). Done with acrylic in my acrylic/ watercolor journal. Intend to do the others also. Thank you! ❤
Thank you for doing these videos. As someone that has had only one "official" class in which the teacher just said ok do what you want and if you need help let me know... I really appreciate the videos made as I'm in part visual learner. Only been painting a little over a year. Enjoy all the fabulous art made and the people that take time in their lives to make these videos; it helps others to grasp concepts of painting. Have a great day!!
Well everybody wish me luck! In 2017 I was in a tragic accident which left me a quadriplegic. I can only shrug my shoulders, my dad is building me a easel that I can drive up to in my wheelchair. I’m going to start attempting to paint with my mouth.( I use a stylus to navigate my phone and I use text to speech.)
Very imaginative and enjoyable to see the landscape as it gradually appears from nowhere. I am learning and wish I could could get somewhere near that sometime soon.
I like your style using removal of paint for highlights, etc... I am dabbling with watercolor and it is expanding my understanding of painting a lot by forcing me to think differently about how to achieve effects. Your video here does the same. Thank you.
I have paused video after first painting just to say this has blown my mind ! Cannot wait to give this style a try. Thankyou for taking time out to post.
i dont know why youtube send this vedio to me,but after watching this, I have a strong inner motivation and feeling to drawing something...thank you, you made oil painting so simple and beautifully
YOU KEEP ME AWAKE. I truly find your impressionism inspirational. At 73 i have to be picky about who i follow. shorter videos are more practical for me. i thank you. i do not wish you to add or subtract a thing from what you are doing. it is a great help.
I got inspired sir from you and I bought oil paints today to start painting. Thank you again 🙏🏻. I do painting and have my little TH-cam channel too. Would like to get an interview with you on my channel
That was really helpful- thank you! I got my wife a paint set for her birthday and we both plan to paint. If I can pull off what your mockups look like, I’ll be forever happy 😊
This is my second video of your work. I now i am two years to late, but this is great. I try to cover them all. It‘s so inspiring how easy it seem and how good is teach us that it‘s not that easy… i love your work…. Thank you for uploading this!
Watched many newer videos first ... but this one gave me a new favorite line from Mr. Stuart. "Just chuck the paint on (he's still says this all the time) It'll know where to go eventually." I wish my medium would know where to go, eventually. LOL
So simple, and beautiful, proves you don't need a hundred colours to make a masterpiece, and done with such ease, giving us noobs ideas and hope 🤣 cheers for sharing
I thought I had watched every Davies video? And then this one popped up from seven years ago. 😁👍 Suprise! Surprise! A 3 miniature painting blast from the past!
COTTON BUTT'S ,WE CALL IT EAR BUT'S SIR,BUT IT'S THE SAME THING THOUGH.WANT TO TELL YOU THIS THAT WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT YOUR WORK I THOUGHT TO MYSELF O GOODNESS THIS MAN CAN'T PAINT,BUT!!!! I WAS IN FOR ONE VERY!!! BIG!!! SURPRISE,...YOU ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL ARTIST THAT I LOVE YOUR WORK AND BESIDES THESE THREE SMALL LANDSCAPES YOU JUST DID ARE LITTLE TREASURES AND ALL THREE OF THEM ARE SIMPLY AMAZING AND VERY,VERY NICE,...STUNNING WORK.I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU.THANK YOU.MARIUS GOUWS
“If you think you see any detail, it’s all an illusion.” I needed to hear that.
I’m learning with every demo you publish. I’m in a college level oil painting class now, and it’s like dragging a train with my gums. I am so inspired by the kind of "unconventional" tools you use to get certain effects. It makes painting seem more accessible.
I love this style. Somehow this seems more real than a photograph.
I have been painting for ten years since I retired and have watched many tutorials. Yours are the most useful I have seen in all that time. Thank you for your calm enlightened way of working and sharing your talent.
Dear Sir, your sketches would be my finished paintings, and I should be so lucky and talented. Thank you for an excellent tutorial.
I so agree!
Love it using a q tip makes all the difference.....love

You understand the act of painting in a way that is way out of the usual norm...Thanks for sharing.
Can very much relate to your comment with regards ear buds. They only last two strokes! @ 5:20
I just did the first painting with a different landscape, sea coming into a river( or the river emptying into the sea). Done with acrylic in my acrylic/ watercolor journal. Intend to do the others also. Thank you! ❤
I'm a complete amateur on oil painting, and am getting started with your tutorials! Thank you for sharing!
My wife and I are sitting on our porch learning. Thank you so much for your instruction from across the pond :)

You make that look so easy. Thanks for sharing your technique.
I am astonished at the speed.....! I'm curious to know what the paintings would look like if those are 'only sketches'.

The orange sky was so brave! I'm going to try it! It is strange seeing you use such small brushes. This is so much fun! Thank you!
Thank you Stuart. I love rewatching your videos. This would be a good way to practice for me....low risk!! Haha...dont know why I get scared....
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you create those paintings and seeing the most striking results.

I can’t get enough of your tutorials. 😊
Found you yesturday, only started oil painting six weeks ago, so helpful. Thanks,
I like your style using removal of paint for highlights, etc... I am dabbling with watercolor and it is expanding my understanding of painting a lot by forcing me to think differently about how to achieve effects. Your video here does the same. Thank you.
Skies peeping through the foliage how dramatic 🎨
So simple method you follow! Good!
Again, stunned by the way the brain automatically sees the detail. Thank You
