Just watched Michael J Smith video for the time, I have watch literally hundreds of TH-cam painting tutorials, teaching myself to paint, and finally I have found someone who will actually break it down. He shows what brush to use, how to mix paint, and what brush strokes technique to use. Without all the unnecessary talk and chatter, like the others, I'm not interested in listening to how someone pet is doing, etc...Not only is he a talented painter, but talented teacher, Thank you Mr. Smith for sharing your gifts.

You will love the change to oil. Took me a bit to xhange over, but have loved working with oils!
This process works quite well with acrylics too.
The skill you have, so the painting ends up real, is amazing. I watch carefully and i chuckle as it suddenly is perfect.

My second time watching this video, first time exhausted me, this time decided to try it because my trees, among other things, do not look realistic! Found a photo, used your method, it took me about 6 hours to complete one tree but I am incredibly happy with the result! I will practice practice practice my trees but had to say a triple thank you!!

Beautiful technique. Thanks. I think I can adapt it for watercolor too, since you can mix the watercolors with a bit of cadmium yellow or gouache, which are both opaque.
