I’ve always called the snag repair tool, a “knit picker”. Also useful for pulling the ends of serger threads back into seams. Easier on old eyes, and arthritic hands, too.
I love my telescopic magnet. Hubby kindly donated me one from his toolbox. Sadly, some of my pins aren’t magnetic. Nor are the components if snaps 😂 so I still have to crawl under my desk from time to time 😂 I remember one of the subscription boxes (Beyond the Pink Door, Dahlia Society) had the lipstick needle keepers as the habby gift. Pretty sure I watched Hayley at The Haymeadow unbox it but last year or even 2022.
I use my telescoping magnet all the time. Guess I drop a lot of pins. To store - I just hang it on my metal filing cabinet close to sewing area. I also have one in my workshop. The TELESCOPING feature is a must have.
Deb I love that needle Keeper. I've heard of them but never seen them. Lots of interesting tools there. I've learnt a lot. Some thing I'd like to learn more about is different knit stabiliser for necklines and shoulders for making t'shirts. I am really confused on what to use. Is this something you know about? Knits are not my best area but I love to wear them so I must keep learning. So happy you are back. Looking forward to your next video ❤❤
Hi Deb! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. The lipstick pin cushions are available here in Canada. I know they used to fill the sharpening strawberries with emery sand. I don't know if they still do or if it has gone the way of the Dodo and they just stuff them for show. 🍓 Bernadette
Hello Bernadette, Thanks for the info about the sharpening strawberry needle keepers being filled with emery sand. I agree, it could be filled with any old thing these days! Love my lipstick pin cushion! Happy sewing
They used crushed walnut shells once upon a time. Something I learned as an allergy mum. Told to steer clear of “granny’s pin cushion”, meaning the vintage ones.
For those interested. If you can't find a lipstick tube holder, you could probably quite easily make one. Find a lipstick tube you like, remove the lipstick from it and clean it out. Make a tiny fabric cylinder stuffed with fiber fill or whatever you like. Glue it into the bottom of the tube and voila, you have a lipstick holder needle keeper. (Or dream up some other method to fill it.) 💄🪡 Bernadette

I love your tip to use the snag picker to pull serger threads through, I will give that a try. Cheers

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely try that.
Hi Deb, I also use the double sided tape on my zippers, it holds them firm with no need to pin!
HI Helen, yes, the double sided tape is brilliant for zippers Happy sewing
Washable glue is awesome for zips too 😊

HI Katrina, thanks for the comments. Nice to hear from you too. Happy sewing
I call it a latch head as I first saw it on my knitting machine
It reminded me if the tool used for latch hooking, though smaller. Now you’ve mentioned it I can absolutely see it as the pins on a knitting machine.
Oh a latch head, I havent heard that name before. Thanks for sharing it
