After several hunts with low amounts of Wheaties BUT finding some old dates we managed to put it together with this box! Sounds like a counter struck penny - usually done by companies and sent in mailers as claim tickets/fun collectibles. Could also just be done by a private person who had some fun. They are somewhat collectible depending on what's on them.
Nice finds, especially on those earlier wheaties. Last penny box I went through had 14 Wheat Cents with the oldest being a 1919 plain. And I also got an 1889 Indian Head. Great hunt Rob.
The dislikes on the giveaway video is probably some kids that are upset that they didn’t win. But you can’t win them all! I’m still happy I won the 500 subscriber one. =)
@@RobFindsTreasure It's not totally unreasonable. The way you were handling those beautiful 58 wheaties, it hurt me just watching. You need to get gloves and then you also don't touch the surface. You only hold em from the edges.
Rob, the other Rob here, just did my 2nd mall call video, along with a GAW that I won. I gave you a long shout out, showing the stamped half dollar with the "R C" you sent me! I have been doing some marathon watches of your coin roll videos-but I have been watching them on the big screen, so don't always get back here to the PC to leave a comment, but I'm watchin' em, man you are getting some great finds. I haven't done a coin roll vid in a long while now as my last 10 or so haven't produced anything I think is worthy of showing. But, we keep trying, and I have a currency check coming up...... Rob2 DWR
I now have 300 but the first wheat penny I found was a 1920 S I was on a swim team so I would dive for coins and spend them in the pool shop and sometimes coins caught my eye, silver coins and wheat pennies. Found a $20 bill but I was like 10 so I gave it to the office 😩
A tip to have more wheat pennies for how much $$$ you spend, buy from coins stores NOT AMAZON, but the best way is to just coin roll hunt, my average is 10 per box. Just got a 20 box yesterday
Someone was trying to figure out how to make old browns look red again. Those coins would fool a lot of newer collectors. I think that scratched up one might be a 57. I’ve seen newer coins that were that mangled, and I think I see the flat top. As you said, though, in that condition it doesn’t much matter. Those ‘58’s are sweet! When I see luster like that IDC if it’s a common date. Just love the look.
Insane video rob! Awesome finds, tomorrow I will be hunting $25 in pennies and $50 in nickels. I will tell you if I find anything cool on your next video.
Hey Rob. I was going through my penny jar the other day and I found a 1950 D rpm wheat penny. I was really awesome because it is my first ever rpm (repunchedmintmark) it was awesome. Nice coins. Keep up the great work.
Woah! Those are some of the best wheat cents I have ever seen pulled out of a box. Those 58's are beautiful! Keep it up! Edit- next time you go, ask the bank if they have any rolls of pennies that are pink. I say this because I got a couple rolls once and the pink one had 49 wheat cents in it.
nice, ive been going to my local coin shop and going through their $1 bin and i have pulled out BU wheats i need for my album for dirt cheap, some BU others average but its better than trying to find some of them
The chances are high that those old wheat pennies have been soaked in either Cola or even vinegar, which strips off all the dirt and leaves a strange pinkish red finish. Definitely a collection dump. I love watching your penny hunt videos Rob. The fact that you can routinely find 60 or 70 year old coins that have survived circulation for so long is incredible. I suppose that many of these coins sit for decades in pots, jars and piggy banks which is why you find, say, 1950s ones in near mint state. Here in the UK, the oldest coins still circulating are the 1971 one and two pence pieces, most of which would have been minted in the late 60s by the Royal Mint. I doubt that copper coins are going to continue circulating in the UK for much longer, they have virtually no buying power now, as opposed to the 1970's when you could actually buy something with a 2 pence peice. I hoard pre 1992 2 pence peices, here in the UK. The older coins are 97% Copper, 2.5% Zinc and 0.5% tin. And they are big, considering how worthless they are nowadays. I can always post a few to you at your PO box if you like. They are a copper stackers dream coin. The British 2 pence peice.
what i did for me is just go inside your local bank and say how much "amount" that you want to order you'll pay that amount then they will tell you when the shipment will come in so then you just go and pick it up :) hope that helps
On the cleaned wheat cents, they are still fun to find. What is the difference in worth? Maybe an uncleaned is worth 3 cents and the cleaned one is two cents. They are just fun to find.
Yeah - I may just spend them as well. I am going to hold onto several boxes of them. Problem is that I have 17 boxes to go through for any errors or varieties still.
Awesome box Rob!!I would hazard a guess that you found a small portion of a collection dump.If possible maybe a return trip to that bank for more??Anyway cool video and looking forward to your next installment, ✌✌✌.
So I have 48 1969-s Penny's... 5 out of the 48 are double printed... They look brand new barely any dirt or anything else..... Can you tell me where I can get them auctioned or graded
Dude I just had a box like that I found roughly 200 wheat cents which where added to my binders. 15 where sealed in protectors immediately and are on there way to PCGS for a full top to bottom. Out of the rest of the memorial cents I found another 500 or better that where form 59-82 in near uncirculated condition. I had atleast 100 errors and 3 dimes. I had an amazing time and managed to pass the coin roll hunting bug to ..........more ppl than I should have.
That was a really cool box to go through, congrats on all the nice wheaties. the strange colored ones might be AU and have a toning to them but I can't really tell if there cleaned from the video.
I found a box a couple of months ago that had 180 wheats a lot like the ones you got,I wonder if we each got the halves of someone's collection between the 2 of us
VICIOUS are you talking to me? If so I would love to send you photos have tried posting them to utube to prove it,I have no reason to lie anyway I could care less about impressing people,I guess you wouldn't believe I found indian heads in boxes too or 7 war nickels only one silver half dollar and tons of low mintage Wheaties
I just got done going through a big water jug full of change that was my parents. I found around 10 Indian heads 30 wheat cents, 5 Buffalo nickels and a silver dime, as well as lots of old nickels and foreign coins. I’m thinking about starting to coin roll hunt soon but not quite sure how to start. Any tips would be great!
lol ok before you start tho just know that coin roll hunting takes time, gets boring, is a pain when rolling back up, and IS FLIPPING AWESOME WHEN YOU FIND A RARE COIN!!!! but for real just go to your bank and ask for a 25 of pennies you could do any amount of any diff coin but i suggest this as you are basically guaranteed to find a coin worth holding even if its just copper pennies also be ok with the fact that if you are just starting you are going to miss coins that are rare that you dont know yet thats why you gotta know alot about coins in order to not miss the good stuff anyways goodluck and have a nice time rolling back up those coins :) lol
Also those coins appear to be cleaned, but it’s hard to tell without physically being able to examine the coin. But given they are in worn condition and have a weird gold patina to them it’s probably a safe bet to say they are cleaned or polished. Also the patina doesn’t look like a normal tone pattern. I'm lucky to get 1 wheatie per box for nearly a month. Thinking to start hunting some Wells fargo boxes! Those always give at least 15 wheaties in the 20+ boxes I've hunted from there. Just couldn't go because the only branch in town was closed! They are reopening Monday finally. Edit: I got 10 boxes from Wells Forgo and ended up with 125 wheat cents.
Best tip I can give you is get an album to hold them that shows the dates and mint marks and then keep looking and looking and looking through rolls until you have them all from 1909 until 1958 I've been looking off and on, coin roll hunting for like 20 years, not constantly though, and I'm about 60 cents short of having them all from 1909 until 2019. Mostly I'm missing the older D and S mint coins.
Vinegar dipped. Vinegar can do some bad things and make a certain coin look like something it's not. I have 2 that I sanded so nobody tried to pass them off as real. Finger rubs won't take the color off. I was doing an experiment with some dirty commons for my 6 year old. I had a certain coin come out looking like something very very very rare to someone who isn't a full time collector.
I think those odd colored wheaties went through an industrial size clothes dryer after being washed with detergent and dried at high heat and flipping through the clothes in the dryer! Check those 1958's for the ddo their super valuable and rare!
I literally have a bag with like 100 of them, I already went through it and found 2 1943 steel pennies, and a wheat penny in great condition that was still shining.
I was at the bank (in Canada) I spotted 5 rolls of US pennies a teller was holding Long story short It was full of wheaties 😛 Someone's collect /or hord forsure
Hey rob, how many wheat pennies have you gotten in a box? My highest is 47... and I just went to the back and they told me that a young guy just brought in $10 worth of pennies and they said that they were all dated. I bought them and they were all 1959s and 59d roll that were all brand new that u just got in your box

My first coin was a Indian head
Nice! I personally have 2 indian heads and about 30 wheat cents
Wow. Definitely someone’s collection. Great finds
I just hunted a box today and the 'find of the box' was a 1918 wheatie.

Justin Snider I got a 1918 wheatie in change at six flags yesterday

I have 2 1918s from roll hunting; ones a Denver and ones a Philadelphia

@robfindstreasure where do you get the mat that lists the valuable coins?.
RobFindsTreasure.com/whats-for-sale/
the 1959 cent was in remarkably good condition i would say that its grade would be in the upper AU category maybe AU 63
How do those 58's stay in that condition? I cant find ANY 1971 new 1p coins here in the UK that arent dull from copper oxidization.

Also those coins appear to be cleaned, but it’s hard to tell without physically being able to examine the coin. Yeah - in person they definitely look touched for sure!
Do you know if coin shops buy wheat pennies and how much they buy it for if they do
Most do but buy in bulk unless better dates or better condition. About 3 cents apiece for circulated commons.
Great video, interesting thank you for sharing :)
All those shiny wheateys and 1959s. How can you tell if they have been cleaned or are truly uncirculated?
If they are worn and shiny - usually not a good sign!
what do you do w/ the copper
I find a lot of that color..in different years..!
Would one grade those 58s? 🤔
Box of 1: 30 wheaties, nice box!
I found one of those shiny wheat cents. 1952 D couldn't tell if it was clean or not.
Can you show us the website you are buying this box?
I buy them at my local banks.
Very cool. Almost beat your record of amount found. Maybe next time.
Fingers crossed Oscar!
Those wheaties have definitely been dipped in ezest
Who do you sell the wheat pennies to?
Im trying to get a wheat penny for every year. Tips?
Best tip I can give you is get an album to hold them that shows the dates and mint marks and then keep looking and looking and looking through rolls until you have them all from 1909 until 1958
I've been looking off and on, coin roll hunting for like 20 years, not constantly though, and I'm about 60 cents short of having them all from 1909 until 2019. Mostly I'm missing the older D and S mint coins.
You are amazing! I'm sending a package/letter with coins in it for you for mail call!
Thank you!!!!
Do you look only for wheat pennies or do you look for 1969 s and other to.
Looks like a finger nail polish remover wash was used on those Wheaties.
Yeah - something was used for sure!

I think that that’s a 1947 judging by what’s coming out the back of the damage. The little arm that comes out of the 4. I could be wrong though.
I’ve dipped coins in ketchup, it has a similar cleaning effect. All on common dates though 😁
It could also have been a pencil eraser!
ive hunted about 175 dollars in pennies. one box had 52 wheat pennies
Do you ever look for 1969's or 1970's double die?
Absolutely - I check for almost 15 different errors every box!
Collection dump! I want to find a collection dump so bad
I have an 1936 wheat penny , 1956 d mint mark penny , and an Canadian sent
I think it's a 1917 wheat cent
