Breaking oil pumps on 12v Cummins I have done lots of these pumps at 25 ftpd and never broke one. So make sure the pump is in. And you tighten corner to corner
Is it possible for the oil pump to loose it prime if its not torqued correctly and is cocked to one side? My truck takes too long to build pressure. Or what about the gasket on the pick up tube? Would this cause the same symptoms?
I just broke a brand new mcbee pump ear off and it was seated correctly and I was only trying to torque it to 17ft/lbs with a digital snap on torque wrench. I thing pump is defective.
Ever heard of the casting on the "idle" gear on the pump failing? Had it break and chew the teeth off the gear 3k miles after a full rebuild...bolts were still torqued properly. Shut it down quick but still going to do bearings. Any suggestions?
I'm about to do a kdp fix and while I'm in there I have a new (cummins)oil pump that says it flows a bit more i guess...is it a good idea to replace oil pump or is it unnecessary
Great explanation Rob.

Had a pump break priming it glad the oil is filtered after it picks it up

I haven’t. But I have had one fail that the gear spin on the shaft

Who in the heck would torque a bold that size to 40lbs ?
I am not sure. I seen a post about broken pumps so made a fast video

Shouldn’t need to do change it. But extra air flow doesn’t hurt
@@CUTTERUPROB do u mean oil flow thanks
Ok just put the timing cover back on should I use thread locker (blue) on the damper bolts? And those are 92 ft lbs i believe thanks for the help
