You can take the woman out of the desert but you can't take the desert out of the woman, haha. Also, I'm such a nerd that I audibly said "woohoo!" alone at home when I saw you uploaded a cactus specific video. Thank you for this!
❤❤❤ I love this I have a cactus collection here in SW Virginia. I keep them in my small greenhouse for 6 months and bring them back in for 6 months (under grow lights). Thanks for highlighting cactus. 🌵 ❤
I live in TX & have had all my cacti out since about mid March. They all sit on a 3 tiered 8' wide bench I built The bench is along my house facing west & they get sun from around noon till 3pm...then my trees provide dappled shade for the rest of the evening sun. They all thrive really well. All my succulents are on a similar bench facing morning sun till around 11am.
Joplin Missouri here- I put all my cacti out back end of march early April. And I haven’t brought them in since then. Mine sit on my front porch, which faces east. They get sun from morning to roughly 3 pm now. At first they were getting about 12 hours of sun, but the sun shifted. I don’t water them ( except for a couple because they droop when they are really dehydrated), the only time they get water is when it rains for the most part. Most of them are in 4” pots.
You have some great cacti. I have a small cereus spiralis cactus, grafted onto a spachianus stock. My latest weird cactus is a paperspine Tephrocactus from the Opuntia family. I just re potted my Madagascar palm, they are actually a succulent plant with a spiny trunk. Vey cool small tree.
San Antonio gal here- my cacti have stayed out basically all year (only come inside for cold cold days). Growth season is upon us, especially for my bunny ears and prickly pears!
As a AZ baby I miss cactus too! I usually kill them but I just ordered a monkey tail and will be brave and try, try again!!! Lol love your collection and yes, I totally understand how they bring a hint of home to you!! When I was growing up we used to go out into the desert and have picnics on the weekends. Lol And I miss the smell of rain, and creasote bushes after a rain. The desert is beautiful! So here I go! Lol
I have a spiral cactus too, it was just too cool to resist. It does pretty well here in Michigan, I overwinter it in a south window and it seems to like it just fine.
You need leather fence post or razor wire gloves you can get them soft or hard its what I use to handle my prickly pearls i don't have a blue colored prickly pair
Oh gosh Becca, your cacti collection is so beautiful, I totally understand you having all of them since you were living in Arizona and they have a ton of beautiful cacti everywhere, I live in Idaho and don't have a lot of cacti, only 1 at the moment and if I ever get a space for more I will for sure see if I can get some, because there really are some pretty ones that I like. Thanks for this wonderful video, have a beautiful and blessed rest of your day, sending love and hugs, bye! 🥰🤗🌵🌹💜💜💜
I’ve had my cacti outside for about 2 weeks now! Absolutely love getting them outside for the summer. I measure them in the spring and it’s always so exciting to see how much they’ve grown come fall. I have a Peruvian apple cactus that when I got it was 3 feet tall and is almost 6 feet tall now - it’s grows about a foot each summer!
Using elmers type glue on the spines on your fingers or wherever they get you helps to remove the spines. I just repotted my"potato" opuntia. I was so careful but, it didn't help!!! lol
Thank you so much your collection is amazing I have just started my cacti journey so thank you for sharing. Side note I have been at my limit many times ☺️😉
Nice collection! Thanks for the info on the spiralis cactus. Mine has been looking wrinkly and soft. I’ve just put it outside for the summer and hope it perks up! (I live in NJ)
No cause my cactus are probably screaming for sun 😂😭 they are in my north facing room and little to no sun I have them under grow lights but i still feel bad for them😭😭😭 I love cacti so much they are so resilient and beautiful in their own unique way
Loved this one! I'm in Missouri also. I just put mine out last week. Same set up, as far as sun exposure. I have mine on old wooden ladders, and some stands. I've had mine for yrs and every fall I get stressed finding a good place for them all inside. And as you know here in MO it cant just sprinkle, it has to downpour. They got a good watering and now the forcast shows rain and clouds for a week🙄 I'm curious to know your winter care also.
Hi, I think your video is very interesting, so sorry you had to move away from your native home but I bet you'll find you new one just as rich. Your Mammillarias at 12:28, I believe is a Nejapnesis which it's common name is Silver Arrow. I have one of those but yours's is quite a bit bigger than mine. Thanks for posting. Your new viewer, SolarWinds.
Just got attacked by my cactus this morning. As it was falling off the counter, I reached out to catch it 🙄🤦🏽♀️ but it caught me. Thank God for tweezers 😂
I have two of my cacti outside, and the rest are inside. Mine are so small though, and probably won’t grow too big since I live in foggy SF 😅. Still love them though, just not looking forward to repotting them hehe.
I e seen the spiral cacti going with my daughter to a nice nursery in Hollywood. It is quite pricey for a small one but so tempting I doubt i can resist third time we visit. Do the spiral flower though? 🌵🥰
Is this the only one that has these type of spikes. I have some and it's the same! I have spent a bunch of time taking out the spikes out of me and/or my clothes lol. One time our dog has a bunch on her tail! She wags her tail crazy lol
It's doing great!! I have it living inside because it's just a bit too sensitive/special for outside haha I feel like if the wind caught it, it would fall over and break in half and I really don't want that to happen lol but she's very happy inside!
Wait, where did you get a saguaro?!!! I thought it was illegal to move them out of state without a permit or something. I’m moving to Kentucky from az (my home) and I wanted to take a saguaro with me!!
@@BeccaDeLaPlants I’m not even sure why I thought that was a rule. Haha. You’re probably just fine having it. I’ll have to make a trip down there before we go. Thank you so much for the response! LOVE cacti & this video!! 🌵
Your T-Shirt!!! 😱😆😎
Local artist in Tucson!!! Her name is Marcy Ellis
Plsss link your shirt 😢
Glad you're bringing the two handed goodbye wave back

So true!! They'll always have a place in my heart.

I'm so happy that you talk about your cactus and euphorbia. I have about 30 cacti and euphorbia in addition to my tropicals.

As someone living in very rainy and cold Scotland, I think I’ll keep my cacti inside🤣
I put mine out on a southern uncovered porch and they love it

I have so much inspiration to move my cacti outside for the summer 😍
Hello! Fellow MO plant parent as well! Just found your channel and your shirt is so cute!!!

I loved this cacti tour 😍 maybe you can show us growth updates at the end of summer 🌱
Definitely!! 😄

Oh yeah I didn't realize how much work it was going to be wintering them i have a huge collection in huge post and in medium pots
New subscriber here! Definitely cacti are gorgeous. Thanks for care tips
Arizona misses you too ❤
Can you plz do a care video for these beasts? I have a ton of houseplants and just now starting cacti
What I meant was, how do you know when to water the different types, etc.
Sure!! Happy to do that
The prickle pear can grow in the ground mine is and it survives northwest iowa winters
So cool! I have heard there’s a native prickly pear to this area, definitely want to check it out
interesting cacti, I want to see how they bloom

Oooh good idea to measure them each year!!
Just went to bachs today 😊 it’s hard not to spend my entire paycheck there. Love your collection 🌵🏜️ so cool you have little pieces of AZ with you!

Enjoyed your cactus 🌵
Love T-shirt!🪴🎍💐🌵

💚🌱☘️🌵💚
I don’t have a bunch of cactus, but the ones I do have are doing great in De La Tanks ☺️
Thank you for sharing!
So glad to hear that!!
I absolutely love this!! I have my cactus on a little bench on my back deck as well❤ LOVE them!!!
Woo!! I bet they're so happy :)
Thank you so much your collection is amazing
I have just started my cacti journey so thank you for sharing.
Side note I have been at my limit many times ☺️😉
I'm in texas lost a bunch this year and last year cause of late freezing out of season lost some like 4 footers and lost some that were graphed

oh nooo!!!! bet that hurt but glad the cactus (and you) are okay! haha
PLZ film yourself repotting those big ones! I'm in SoCal and have a couple cacti/agave to repot and could use a tutorial 🫰🏽
I definitely will!!

Do the spiral flower though? 🌵🥰
Wonderful cacti/euphorbia. I am on the hunt for a spiralis and a snowflake. Fingers crossed 🤞!
Hope you can find them soon!! :)
@Becca De La Plants I actually was just able to order both from Mountain Crest Gardens- what luck!
Can you explain winter storage and care for them? I just got 4 cacti for my deck and want to know how to care for them once I have to bring them in.
Is this the only one that has these type of spikes. I have some and it's the same! I have spent a bunch of time taking out the spikes out of me and/or my clothes lol. One time our dog has a bunch on her tail! She wags her tail crazy lol
How did you get that echinopsious torch. Or your star cacti to twist like that ?
do you ever get the brown cactus corking? my spiralis has some of that running up it and I can't figure out the cause
Do you keep your ghost euphorbia inside in the summer? Love the bench.
Yes it’s inside for summer still :) I’m really paranoid about it falling over from wind as it’s very top heavy so I just keep it inside
💚💚
do you have to water them outside or just let the rain water handle it?
I know your euphorbia is technically not a cactus but I'm curious as to how your white ghost is doing??❤
It's doing great!! I have it living inside because it's just a bit too sensitive/special for outside haha I feel like if the wind caught it, it would fall over and break in half and I really don't want that to happen lol but she's very happy inside!
I got a glochid just watching the video.
My m9nstrose is white and tiny bots of red
So did we all go to cacti and succulents after going through all the tropical plants fever? Or is it just me 😅
I live in South Florida 90% of my cacti are outside. The other 10% are in my south facing window in the bathroom...
Love that!!
Wait, where did you get a saguaro?!!! I thought it was illegal to move them out of state without a permit or something. I’m moving to Kentucky from az (my home) and I wanted to take a saguaro with me!!
I am not aware of any regulations like that!! Hopefully I didn't do something illegal lolol but I got it from Eco Grow in Tucson, AZ!
@@BeccaDeLaPlants I’m not even sure why I thought that was a rule. Haha. You’re probably just fine having it. I’ll have to make a trip down there before we go. Thank you so much for the response! LOVE cacti & this video!! 🌵
What happened to you euphorbia white ghost? :(
It lives inside!
🤓
Nice monstrose cacti
Those two you need to repot just cut the pot with a knife. Then you can grab it by the roots.
Duct tape works pretty well for me to remove tiny cactus teeth from skin. 😊
Great tip!
🎉❤ I love your channel and have been following you for a long time. I hope we can cooperate on the channel level, my friend 🎉❤
O
Other than the west having no water and being stupid expensive. Why move to missoura lol out of all places
My husband’s job 🤪
