Super cute!! I got my first 2 cacti this year (a little blue torch and a tiny African milk tree)-I’m excited to see how they grow! I also really love your fence post cactus, that one’s definitely on my wishlist!
I got a shelf like that at Aldi in the spring and my cactus have been outside on it all summer. I also have a new monkey tail but not that big! Your plants are beautiful!
Lovely Cacti collection. They do need alot of light. Same with succulents. I usually just put my on my windowsill during summer seasons. I am always cautious moving my plants outdoors unless there permanently cause of pests. I also love your Euphoria White Ghost. For that one i think treat like succulents in case burnt easily. Monkey tail type of cactus would be nice in a hanging basket the rats tail one is cute too. I was told they only stay hairy if they have enough sun.
If you put them in the greenhouse, will it be heated? If not, they won't grow through the winter and you shouldn't water them. I have grown cacti for 10+ years and in my opinion, the best you can do for your cacti over the winter is provide them a well lit space with above freezing temperatures (around 10° Celsius is ideal), and don't water them all winter. They go into dormancy and it prepares them for better blooming in spring. If you can't give them a well lit, non-heated space, then a dim, non-heated space is the second option (like a basement). Again, no water. (If you can, you can put them under grow lights) My least favorite option is putting them on a window sill in (heated) room temperature, and watering them 1-2 times during the winter. As you said, they don't go into dormancy then and the growth looks etiolated and ugly. Also, blue cacti (myrtillocactus, blue torch etc.) are cold sensitive. Take special care of them if they will be in a non-heated space! I hope that helps at all! 😊 You have beautiful cacti.
I just recovered your page. I have a cactus that was given to me 6 to months ago. It was almost petrified. Now it shot new growth on top. My problem is...i can't really find anything about it. Looks like a candle stick.
When you purchase things off of Amazon and they don’t come with the instructions if you go to the manufacturer information, it will give you a link to pull up the instructions. For the future. I just learned this because something just came like that.
