Bravo Global Health Media Project - you have done it again! Clear, concise tips to prevent, delay, and manage diabetes are woven into this compelling and beautiful animation, The Story of Sugar. Like your other work, this educational video will save lives around the world including some 1 in 10 Americans living with this disease. Thank you!
Honestly, so many people could never understand that many diabetics or so many food that has so much sugar, it can even cause more and more deaths quicker, and no ine could realize that. But hey, i hope that you're okay through these coming times
sugar intake is now more than 50g of sugar a day and some foods in america like starbucks drinks have more than 50g while other ultra processed foods have red40 red2 and coal tar dye. MAKE AMRICA HEALTHY AGAIN
@@pharrelljorgebaguna5015 yes, I've always eaten really healthy food, I've got t1d since I was 10 and I think I've got pretty healthy habits, although this year I've put on a couple kilos but I'm trying not to get too fat
@@average-art3222 thank you, and yes, since my teenage years and with all the hormones it's been sometimes a bit of a rollercoaster but I'm trying to get it under control anyways
In a world where being obese and unhealthy is considered “healthy,” it’s good to know there are still sources that remain true and give us information that is actually helpful
man its really easy to get pre diabetes, or pre hypertension. 1 in 3 people have pre hypertension in the world, and if isn't controlled, it'll be deadly.
Well in my opinion, moderation is better than restriction. Restriction from sugar can lead us to not enjoy, and if we always resist the temptation we become stressed. Instead moderation is way better, because we can remain healthy and fit but also enjoy occasionally whilst having a balanced diet
Brother, moderation caused my addiction to come back, after restricting myself. I stopped having urges for sugary foods. Living proof that restriction is the best end goal
Both of my parents have diabetes and our family have switched to eating less and less sugary foods for the last few years. I became accustomed to this diet and now soft drinks feel horribly too sweet to me haha.
Honestly, i need to learn to control the amounts of food i consume. Most of em are rice so, seeing this animation, made me really need to consume less and less food that has a lot of sugar, salt and take outs
Immediately checked my blood glucose level after watching this video and it showed 24, 28 from 3 different fingers. My dad who's about 120-130kg has got diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago. I've been binge eating sweets for about a year from academic stress and gotten to 68kg recently. This was very helpful for an ignorant person like me. TY
Seeing the passing of my grandmother was the final straw for me to undo all the years of bad habits and balance out junk food with homemade food and began to walk more. Now, I'm close to my 190 pounds goal which is about almost 70 Pounds down from my highest 260 at 16-years-old.
Hello, 15 year old here, yesterday my yeargroup went to the library to talk to important people, the fire brigade, metropolitan police, NHS, London transport department, and one of the, really caught my eye, there was two women talking about sugar. I payed attention, I’m only supposed to have 25 g of sugar and 11g of salt everyday, I thought that was easy, when my mother picked me up from school she gave me three small chocolate bars and told me that I could eat them all, I did. Later on, I checked the sugar, 8.5g per bar. I had just eaten more than the recommended amount of sugar for a day in one sitting. Ever since that I’ve been keeping a food diary where I limit my sugar and salt intake
I'd say don't worry about eating a bit more sugar in one single day. If you eat so much more than your body can handle for extended periods of time, it will become bad and is likely to give you health problems. Diabetes and obesity doesn't happen overnight, it is months of bad habits.
I noticed the same thing once I looked into it. A single bottle of coke has like 68g of sugar, and I was drinking like 2-3 a day. Very thankful I’ve stopped.
I used to have a big belly but no diabetes. I realized I was at risk so I went on a very strict diet of lean meat, chicken, fish, and eggs. Yeah to some it’s crazy but I wanted to cut carbs while exercising more. I did reach my goal and returned to a balanced meal because I was suffering from fatigue due to low carbs and sodium.
Thank you so much for this, it was very enlightening and I enjoyed watching every second of this video. As an aspiring Dietitian, a good healthy diet can completely change the pathway to complete health destruction and also help maintain your health conditions without going out of control. We all need to start taking our diet more seriously ❤
As a fat person, i'm proud of this video! I'm somewhat having a low-sugar addiction, and i am too energetic at my elementary school! Thanks for creating this video:)
I’m a boxer and I will tell you how to quit the addiction Cut off sugar for 2 weeks start of small and don’t eat foods that say sugar free but have chemicals and artificial sweeteners and artificial colours and artificial chemical flavours. After 2 weeks the sugar addiction will go and you will actually become more energetic and more fit and strong Sports such as boxing or soccer can help! You will become more energetic strong and fit more than when you were on sugar. Please listen to this for your health
My mom is overweight, unmotivated, and has high blood pressure, yet that still isnt a motivator for her. Ive picked up her bad habits, particularly eating horrible. Everday it's a struggle trying to eat healthy when you have family buying soda, chips, sweets. Ive been working out, trying to eat better, but some days are hard. I hope one day my mom makes a change for herself and realize that I want her to live a longer and better life
I'm Korean, but when I was young, Korean food was not as sweet as it is now. But Muckbang and TikTok became popular, and now it's become a stimulating food... Now we all have to go back to the real traditional food
As a person who grew up in an environment where teachers tell the students to go out to the street to eat at restaurants everyday during lunch. It’s shocking to know it is nearly impossible to eat healthy at restaurants.
My family has a lot of diabetics. Like there are literally a few without it. I wish we would stop buying junk food and had more time and motivation for more exercise
Growing up, we didn't eat much fast food despite my house being close to fast food franchises, why?, we were simply used to homemade food, and when we wanted to eat fast food, we would eat local fast food or just cook a healthy version of the dish, we even stopped buying processed meat to switch to regular meat, all of these habits made us less prone to disease and more active, in the end, I would advice everyone to moderate their fast food consumption and exercise more.
I feel I may have diabetes. About 2 years ago I began overeating on sugary foods due to stress and poor mental health and gained a lot of weight within a few months. My vision became very blurry to tye point where I had to get tested to have glasses, I became forgetful with lacking in concentration and I was always tired. But I'm actively trying a healthier diet
Honestly, symptoms nowadays just seem like average things or those that happen to everyone occasionally. Now, I cannot tell whether or not that means we are unhealthy, or that explanations of diseases, syndromes, conditions, disorders, etc. are too generalised, but my opinion is that it is a mix of both.
17 years old girl here , I didn’t want to watch this video because i know I'm potentially with diabetes and it will makes me only feel sad not because I'm might be ill but because i knew it would happen and i never quit sugar
All of this is absolutely true and I completely agree with it, although I don’t understand rice, as it has been the main food that many people consume and it often has good effects on the body, what’s up with that?
good question... Rice is ok -- and can be incorporated into a healthy diet; in moderation.. In this film -we recommend filling a small plate or bowl with 1/2 non-starchy veggies, 1/4 lean protein and 1/4 carbohydrates, such as rice. The dad ate a mountain of rice as well as a lot of foods with added sugar. All starches are broken down into sugar (glucose) - some is used for immediate energy, or stored in the liver or muscles - and the remaining glucose is stored as fat. So eating a large quantity of rice or other starch will often end up getting stored as fat -- too much of which can lead to diabetes.. hope that helps!
Great overall message, but everyone who watched this, please dont entirely avoid sugar, instead control the amount you eat, and eat sugar from healthier sources like fruit, because fruit is excellent for your bodies health
Much needed one. Everyone should aware of this…..central obesity (abdominal fat) is the initial point of diabetes. Diabetes is the deadliest disease one can get and it can kill us slowly 😢
Thanks for your kind comment about our work. You are right that we've created just a few animations -- but we have more than 250 live action teaching films in many languages.
When it comes to sugar, I don't see any point in moderation. There is no justification other than the momentary pleasure of eating junk food. Real food is the best way.
for me i eat 1 sugary snack a day and it helps if you start thinking of snacks as a treat that you get once a day rather then eating so much of it in a single day

That's true. Sugar can make their brains addicted and unable to control for healthy diets leading to worse health risks. I don't understand why sweet foods are the most popular taste in the world and people prefer this instead of healthy and normal diets that are being abandoned. Today, many professional health educators are worried about people who eat sweet foods and drinks only. Sugar is a real problem with food. Unbelievable!

In a world where being obese and unhealthy is considered “healthy,” it’s good to know there are still sources that remain true and give us information that is actually helpful
no one thinks fat obese people are healthy. same for skinny ones
As someone who was recently diagnosed with pre diabetes, i hope that this video can push me to try to reverse what has happened before its too late
You can do it bro you got to get yourself out of that pit before you fall in deeper to where you can't get out, YOU CAN DO IT ✝️💪
That sucks, but I am sure you can switch to a healthier routine, just don’t overwhelm yourself. You got this :)

Living proof that restriction is the best end goal
moderation is always the best answer.
How do you think all life that lived on earth was fine without candy then.
I think eating sugar only in homemade foods is a good compromise, if you have the time to make them
life is not meant to be enjoyed, restriction is the goal. moderation affect the long-term especially when you age.
Both of my parents have diabetes and our family have switched to eating less and less sugary foods for the last few years. I became accustomed to this diet and now soft drinks feel horribly too sweet to me haha.
