I’m going on 30 days no alcohol. I figured after 40 years of drinking and making numerous poor decisions whilst drinking, some of which I even remember, it was time. It’s been easy so far. I sleep better, feel better, am more productive at work, and I’ve lost 8 pounds already. It’s still early I know, so wish me luck

I almost drank me to death last year. I came out of a very toxic relationship last year juni the 15th. Due to this relationship I lost my pension money and my life in Holland. I live now in Hungary. I started to drink extremely and every day more and more until I drank 2 bottles of wine and 1 bottle of wodka a day. I had more and more thoughts of wanting to die and being a total worthless human being living in a strange country. Until the 6th of January 2023. There I experienced a severe pain in my chest to my left arm. That day I came home and sat on my couch and started to talk to myself. After a long emotional conversation with myself I never drank anymore and also quit smoking. The next day I started sports daily and since then I already lost 8kg. I started at 114 and want to go to 95kg. Not only my body heals now but also my mind. I'm still alone but not lonely anymore. I still am broke and poor, but not in my mind. I live now for myself and my sport and will walk the earth alone till I die, free of any addiction.

Not going to lie... This has been the weakest day of all of 2023... What are the odds you put out one of your longest videos pounding it into my head.
Not sure why I got weak it could be because I'm in Vegas... I think I'm going to go get some Blue Bell ice cream and keep listening to your video.
Then hit the club tonight and drive us home sober.
I going to break this old association with Vegas.
We went dancing at club zouk last night and you're right I did feel sorry for people that take no thought that they are ingesting ethanol.
Yeah today I woke up and had the urge, mostly out of Vegas habit.
Anyway I'm counting this post as my journal entry. It's almost 6:00 p.m. and I will make it to bed tonight without ingesting any drugs or alcohol.
I'm only a quarter way through the video and my strength is restored. Going back to finish the video
Thank you Leon for saving my life today.
A video a day keeps my old addicted brain away. I plan on watching everyday this year..
To be honest I wanted to skip today because of the craving and I knew what this would do.
    Thank you

I quit drinking 7 years ago and I consider it a greater achievement than my retirement from the armed forces and the Bachelors degree I earned during a dry period. I feel like most people think of quitting drinking as a badge of shame and a failure because you are just one of those weak individuals who can’t hold their liquor or don’t know when to stop. Eventually the term alcoholic was coined and a made up disease was universally (nearly) adopted.

i never get wasted, but i have been drinking literally every single day without a break since i turned 21 in 2020, 3-5 8% drinks every single day and have noticed a MASSIVE decline in my mental health. i always come up with stupid excuses to continue drinking. my lack of energy due to drinking has pushed me to abuse amphetamines as well, seriously furthering the problem. after seeing your videos i am gonna let it all go. i hate living like this. thank you for opening my eyes to see my situation for what it truly is

I tried dry January and since lent started in February I decided to attempt to increase my non drinking. I now will never drink again. I have to have a full blood count each month due to meds and all my bloods are perfect according to my consultant. She can’t believe the changes. My dog loves me as well because now I can get a good nights sleep and get up at 6.00 so she can go for a walk early in the morning. I have also lost 20lbs in weight without even trying. The changes are just as you say far too many to list.
Appart from Having recently seen someone die from cirrhosis I never want to put anyone through that. It will forever haunt me. But the real killer after seeing how alcohol consumed this person’s body was The last words weren’t I love you or anything like that but “I want a drink”!!!!! How can anyone drink after hearing those final words from a loved one.

Really bummed. I had a phone meeting set up. Multiple reminders. Sat like a dumbass waiting for the call that never came. Just another thing that has not helped me .

Didn't enjoy the taste of coffee or dark chocolate at first, pretty sure I do now. My ex was living with me she had issues with grog. I have only drunk once in the last 10 months. When she stole some of my bourbon (I don't drink but I do enjoy buying bourbon) I would open the bottle and sniff it, smells so good. The way I enjoyed smelling it she reckoned I have a problem. Maybe I don't really like the smell or taste, but I am sure I do. You get most the dopamine from buying alcohol. You don't need to drink it. Just noticed average male IQ goes from 108 at 18 to 97 at 34. It should be going up. Alcohol is having a massive impact one would have to assume. Mind you seems to be reversible as from 34 average IQ in males goes from 97 to over 110 by 54, then to over 120 by 65. It's either the grog, or university is making people dumb

Interesting observation about the dopamine hit just from buying it.
I have just started another alcohol free period. Couple of days in, I had strong urge to go to the bottle shop. Couldn't work out why as I had a 1L Kraken sitting in the cupboard and I didn't actually feel like drinking anything at all 😅

I have watched a few of your video's but none of them are for me convinsing. I wish I was not alive. The only reason why I am is that the ption of suicides do not apeal to me. I am alive because if I finished my life - mum could not handle this. She is an eldery person, so once she will go away I will have no reasons to stay alive. I do not envy anyone who is a non-alkoholic. P.S. I do have an interesting job, have decent salary, but other than that and let's agree - this is nothing (nothing worth living for) - I have nothing; no motivation to be here.

If God calls it sin then our opinion doesn’t MATTER !
If you say you don’t believe in God … that doesn’t matter either
hence you will find out eventually.

I drink because I want to shorten my life span. If I quit drinking then I may extend my life span which is not something I want.
