I’m 70 years old and have drank alcohol since I was a kid. Looking back it cost me lots of things including at least two wife’s and countless friends. Some time ago I realised I was addicted to certain things. Food took over from Alcohol some days as did pain killers. I was looking for something but never really found it . Alcohol was always there, sometimes but not always a quick fix. What I have found out is the reason for my mood swings and behaviour was Alcohol. Decided I dident need it anymore and I don’t. It’s been hard to a degree, the actually addiction of Alcohol abuse fast approaching 60 years is strong . My journey to a better life has begun now. It’s not about how long..it’s about starting life without anything other than yourself. Wish me luck and stay safe everyone.

I'm at stage 4. Cold turkey since October 2022, no deprivation, no cravings, no AA. I go to BBQ, holidays, bars with friends and I don't feel anything, I drink water, feel ok and I don't feel less, by the contrary .. I see them as addicted in poison as I was.. this channel was one of the channels that helped me to understand how dangerous and lab engineering alcohol is made to enslave and ruin your life. Never again

I'm 24 and I've been drinking since the age of 12... Imagine that, 12 years of drinking. This is when I realized, nope. This stuff along with other stuff is horrible for your body. So now I'm 3 weeks sober and never felt better. Thanks for the video. Much love.
A good quote I say is: If we are strong enough to reach for a bottle, we are strong enough to stop ourselves from reaching for one.

I started at 17 and i'm 25 now and I really wish nobody ever introduced me. Been trying to quit for 2 years....My current partner almost died from it! He/We (because he was doing this before we met) were killing giant bottles of Vitali every night. He's 35 and survived his coma but i'm terrified it's going to happen to me because its so hard to stop. Sorry I just used to think 17 was young but I forget those stories ("smoked cigarettes at 13"). You're a year younger than me and it really puts life into perspective....

    • @EndlessTravels

You smarter than me, I went from 17 to just about 41 years old.
I was always active always self improving always doing big things and even successful on many things.
How I am still alive is past me
3 Weeks though man, thats seriously dope and worth it, you got 60 to 70 years now to crush it ^^

Alcohol was the easiest thing to quit for me. I jumped from Stage 2 to 4. There was no stage 3 for me.
I've been heavy drinker for 20 years every single day but once I realized it was damaging me mentally and my loved ones I never looked back. :)

We might be the problem but we are also the solution. There is nothing bad about anyone with any addiction. Most studies show that childhood trauma is the root of addiction. Unconditional love for ourselves is the way out to recovery 🙏🏻

Hi guys. I found a “placebo” cocktail helps me when I’m in a boozin’ mood and don’t want to booze. I drink tonic water and lemon - tastes just like my favorite poison, vodka tonic! It’s weird and it’s not for everyone, but it works for me!

I'm at Stage 4 or even 5. I just woke up one day and was done. It's been 40 days and I have not even been tempted a little bit, or regret quitting. I think it was more of a habit than anything (a 30 year one though). I quit smoking 20 years ago the same way. One day it seemed stupid to do it any more so I stopped.

10 lite beers a day. 1 per every 45 min to an hour. Occasional sip or two of liquor. Was never drunk. Lifted hard everyday and massive cardio. 20 pull up max. 80 push up max. 225lbs on bench for 6-8 reps. 12% body fat all year long. Very clean diet but for lite beer. All while consuming that much beer. This is why it was tough for me to quit. Best shape of my life. No family or work issues. Had my best income year last year. No health problems. Blood work perfect.
My motivation: dump the empty calories and get to 10% body fat or less. It was the only reason I could come up with.

Towards the end I did not even enjoy the taste. I despised the taste ands forced myself, just to get my anxiety under control.
Alcohol became a medication 💊 for my anxiety.
The worst bit was that after every drink my anxiety became worse. This made me have to drink more and increase the alcohol intake.

  • @theaxsys21

Stopped yesterday, ran it out of my system that night (may not have been a good idea, but it felt right) I wasn't a heavy drinker, but and everyday drinker. I'm smoker too, which I would love to see some quit smoking vids from you, and smoking mad it harder. I think you need to take one out the get rid of the other. I've been in stage 3 for both, smoking gets me everytime, but not anymore. Tomorrow morning I'm going to wake up, change my routine, and get through the hard parts, because quitting won't kill me, but damn the cravings make it feel like it. You have to unlearn how to smoke, and deal with stress without cigarettes and as soon as you can do that you can beat the habit. Will update in a full week.

After trying to quit for years and trying AA and stuff I been sober for 2,749 days now and I really believe what is the major game changer is the sense of deprivation. Since I've lost the deprivation it's just been the end of it regardless. Over the years I've had roommates with alcohol never even bothered me. I even own a bottle of wine for company that I have not cracked for 3 years. 🤣

I got 13 pounds heavier and I'm VERY frustrated and also I'm the kind of person that can't just drink one pint and that's it.
I'd rather cut it out completely, but I don't know how to deal with eating out with friends or clubbing and not getting anxious without alcohol (also not ok).
But my reason is too weak and I don't get taken seriously most of the time... I get swayed so easily, I'll try to go cold turkey or else I'll start thinking again it's ok to drink one pint of beer per outing, then two, then five...

Congratulations on wanting to improve yourself. You have to reject the propaganda. You can relax and have fun without alcohol. You can have a nice meal without alcohol. Millions of Hindus and Buddhists have pleasant, fun lives without alcohol. If you want to complain and moan about how bad your life is and have people say "Yes, that's awful. However, you can overcome it. Here's how I did it" you could try out AA. There is usually a selection of several different groups meeting in most cities. Visit the different groups in your town until you find a group that makes you feel comfortable. The main complaint I have heard about AA meetings in my town is that one group is dominated by heavy smokers. The air turns dark grey soon after the meeting starts.

I’m on day five now. I have been a heavy drinker for twenty years now i was drinking a twelve pack + every day I was in stage three probably five years. Got trashed on Monday woke up Tuesday couldn’t even function all day said to myself I’ve had enough of this foolishness! So I told myself I’m done and I mean it. I’ve made list of future goals a list all the problems alcohol has caused me Drink well over a gallon a water a day started walking keep just as busy as possible. Been focused refuse to go back just looking ahead and and not feeling sorry for my self. I now know that alcohol is evil toxic poison and I’m not missing out on it. Stopped at a a drinking buddys house today jumped out with water in hand he looked up and said what have you gone gay on me I smiled and Said I’m done with this sh!t I will never drink again and if you don’t think it’s a problem for you take a look in the mirror and be honest with your self his jaw dropped! I sat down he drank beer and I drank water. And that didn’t bother in the least I was proud! So if you are ready it’s not even a problem.I’ve reached stage four and thank you for the video. To all those who are trying to quit don’t give up there is life after drinking!

Allen Carr helped, but I still had to hit rock bottom. Reading the AA big book helped too.

Appreciate your enthusiasm and motivational skills but I hate hate hate when it’s like spend all this money on my program and you’ll magically be your best self ever. I wish I wasn’t being “sold” things all the time, it makes the whole video feel like a commercial. No offense to the man since I know he’s running a business and everyone needs to make money somehow. I’ll take the free advice for now and try and make it to stage 4 without paying money. I believe having healthy coping mechanisms at your disposal is just as important and can get you to stage 4.

I tend to agree with you. I also have concern that potential withdrawal can be fatal, and his stages have not been properly assessed. The cycle of change (Prochanka and Di Clemente) is the theory that is widely accepted throughout addiction and recovery services. If there’s no going back how does he explain relapse? Basically seems a way of making money from vulnerable people, in the building industry he would be called a cowboy.
