Hey thanks for making this vid as I appreciate people sharing their experiences with this herb that I'm considering taking. But do you realize that the bacopa capsules you were taking were whole plant powder? and that the studies you referenced used an extract, not the whole plant. This is why they only used 300mg.

Awesome video and experiment. If you want to dig deeper into the Bacopa Monnieri world, you should try the two patented extracts: Synapsa and Bacognize. Neither one of those gives me any gastrointestinal symptom and they are way more concentrated in active alkaloids than the regular extract. Last but not least, I suggest a battle between Bacopa and PRL-8-53 which is a compound that is known in the nootropic community to be one of the most powerful memory booster. Congratulations on your channel, you have a lovely and lovely vibe.

There are 2 standardized extracts of bacopa: bacognize and synapsa, and there are also different levels of % of bacosides, the active ingredient. Some feel some relaxation/sedation with bacognize, and synapsa tends to be energizing, but experience still varies for individuals. The best results seem to be with synapsa at 50-55% bacosides and most reliable studies use that concentration.

The product you used is 500 mg of the whole plant which is basically the whole plant dried and powdered. the 300 - 600 mg shown in the studies are of the concentrated extract. so 2000 mg of the whole plant may be equivalent to less than 500mg of the extract. Also, studies show that the actual benefits appear only after a couple of weeks of daily use.
    In your experiment,
    1. the dose was low.
    2. You didn't allow the effects to build up properly before testing. the days where you took the control also may show improvements induced by bacopa. as its effects are cumulative.
    3. Improvements can also happen by practice alone.
select a series of tests that tests all aspects of cognition note the scores try bacopa for 2 weeks daily (dont practice in this time) then do the same test. compare scores

Hmm this is really neat, though doesn't lions mane and Bacopa both work by building up? It usually takes 2 weeks to see any effects in both of them, and if you stopped them cold turkey, it takes a few days to clear your system. It would be interesting to do a trial where you take two 2 week cycles of each maybe for 8 weeks total 🤔

I'd recommend to buy by the ingredient list versus the brand name. Bacopa is a bit of a fringe supplement. I'm not sure if any global brands exist. The brand I tried was Ayur365. I found it on the Canadian Amazon site. We tried our best to find similar products based on your location, so the brands will differ depending on what is available for you. Hope that helps!

After watching your video, i tried bacopa monnieri , I initially experienced very high positive effects from taking the bacopa monnieri tablet, including improvements in mood, memory, and concentration. However, after about a week, i noticed that it stopped working, and i began feeling sleepy , lazy, foggy and experiencing procrastination. Despite undergoing a complete blood test, including checking for any vitamin deficiencies, all results came normal.. I'm wondering why the Bacopa monnieri tablet isn't having the same positive effects on me anymore, even though i have using a high-quality brand...i have exams ... please give me solution... thanks a lot...

    • @ShoshinShow

I’m likely not the right person to answer your question. I find that most long term effective solutions come from within instead of an external pill. Taking something everyday changes your baseline and creates adaptation. Consider taking Bacopa when you need it instead of everyday. Work on building better habits everyday.

PSA: Make sure you get Bacopa with the bacosides listed. typically the higher, the better but the higher also mean it can increase the gastrointestinal issues.
Bacopa definitely works for me. It helped me with memory-long term and short term. It seemed to bring back more memories from the past and help me connect new things that I was exposed to, to things I know. So I guess helped me with learning??
I wouldn't say it is drastically but definitely a difference. Unfortunately, I discontinued using it because it caused me diarrhea. I tried taking it on an empty stomach, after eating, and different times of the day and the results still led to diarrhea.

Bad research, bad statistics... random conclusion.
So much nonesense, where the most obvious in short. No reason to do 3 conseq. days. Remove outliers. Report on daily activity that influences this basic tests. Normalize for getting better in a test you practice for weeks. No longer a blind test when you can tell because you took it not as prescribed. Conclusion...Say wow look at that works great, but too expensive. I took too much daily, but not continuesly. Well let my old folks have the rest of the jar as meah maybe they see benefits.

@@ShoshinShow lol was short enough. Still why not take one week one and one off? Or why did you take such a high dose when research indicates half that? Did you keep all parameters for testing the same, e.g. time of day? What is the goal of the video?

Bacopa Monnieri only has shows effects after 4-6 weeks of use, I believe the effects you are seeing could just be placebo.

If you have done bacopa tests after placebo pills,it is highly likely that you got better just because you have practised it before.
On the other hand if you have done bacopa first, the results should be the same because bacopa stays in your system for several weeks.

@@ShoshinShow Thank you for reply!Great video!I think that you should make a video with placebo and pills with time difference of each of month due to the fact that bacopa is known as adaptogen which doesnt have effect immideatly after taking it for a day,or several days in row and doesnt lose effectivness after not taking for several days.

On a 60 day experiment I would probably do a memory test every 5 or maybe even 10 days to give myself more time in between.
