Can really tell some people in the comments section have either never done on the road breakdown or they just always have all the tools. Sometimes things just arent around or you dont.have time. Lots of admiration for this bloke, quality operator. Personally, and im sure this got done but idve checked for where the waters coming from
No gloves, waiting on your hand to fall off in 20yrs.
@@vanblue7317 I don't know a single person in this industry with any skin issues, plenty over the 30 yr mark.
I would only be presumptuous in asking if you found the underlying issue here. A bad wheel seal isn’t going to cause a big mix of rust and gear oil like that and I would hope you drained the diff and cleaned all components and fixed what I assume was most likely the vent or case leaking causing the water issue also wether it’s a “push in “ seal or not using a seal driver prevents uneven installation of a seal and would prevent that hammer from marring the edges of it as well . Not a bad install job but I would make any of my guys tear that back down and do it right before it rolled from my shop we maintain a fleet of 30 trucks and 20 mid sized to large excavation and a hand full of paving equipment. Taking the extra steps is what prevents unnecessary down time . Also cleaning the plate and surface around the s cam helps keep things from becoming contaminated like the shoes and rollers again aiding in longevity. Aside from that keep em rollin and keep the vids comin
Yeah, I did notice not a drop of oil came out of the hub when the axle was broke loose.
Using a proper seal driver is ssssweet. Before stepped seals I have used an old type 30 brake pushrod.
Always caged the brakes, I know it isn't going anywhere.
Had a cheapo ratchet strap cut down. To hold shoes in place when installing last spring.
Good idea using the bar to check the end play.
What seal are you using. Hammer install never worked out for me.
Excellent! Only if every shop did it exactly like that.
This is very similar to how I change wheel seals, except I add a small amount of 90W in the hub recess before installing the outer bearing. You can also raise one side of the duals, and let the oil flow to the other side slowly after its put back together. I never cage the brakes, just release them from inside the cab. Good Videos!
Same here.
It doesn't take long to fill the cavity with oil going down the road though, and with a small amount of oil like he did put on ,the bearing is probably not hurt at all. But I always fill the hub first anyway...
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks, I'm reassembling my first big truck axle and was confused about this. I'm restoring a 68 IH Loadstar with an RA-39 axle, so I appreciate your clarification.
I made my own brake spring tool 25 years ago. And still use it .it looks just like the one there selling.
Pre-loading bearings is 300 foot pounds. Three times, every time rotate the hub once. Then back off spindle nut and re-tighten using only your hand.
Actually, I am far from criticizing others, because I do not know the circumstances and objectives in detail. However, I winced a little when I see how oil seals are driven in or how the ABS increment can be reinstalled without cleaning. The S-cam of the brake was also installed dry and uncleaned with new rollers. Hm ... that shown leaves an ambivalent impression on me. On the one hand, I like this channel very, very much because it shows things from real everyday life and from a professional perspective. On the other hand, some of the methods shown here are just too ... how should I put it, casual? Anyway or thumbs up for this channel and especially this film! 👍
Thanks for watching!!
Ahh fun times! I worked as a Mechanic's Assistant (GoFer) from when I was 16- 19 years old. Quite when I joined the Army in '83. Done this a few times, then have it inspected.
I don't hear the banter with the other mechanics... miss that.
Thanks for watching!!
@@SemiWorkin I'm working on a scale model of a KW W925 to make it very similar to the Movin' On truck from the mid 70s. (Aftermarket Cummins VT 903 with an Eaton 13 speed. Both are different than the ones that are in the kit.) I'm following now and look forward to seeing your content!
Is showtime
New brakes shoes, with hardware kit, new oil bath seals,
Axle gasket, and bearings too.
I love my job
I love when my hands get a greasy oh yeah baby
Nice video dude 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Never seen a axel com-apart this easy ! I had to use a5-10 lb.sledge @ rap the center of the axel (quarry dump trucks )
Yep I have beaten the shit out of the half shaft with a sledge hammer to get it to come out !
This is a Spicer Dana axle housing without the axle stud wedges , easily removable . Maintenance council has a recommended procedure to tighten wheel bearings on the double nut assembly with a torque wrench and back off .
Great work.l love watching this😊.
Thanks for your sharing and tutorial replace seal wheelhub 🙏👍🏻
Want to really see some heavy duty brakes. Change some on a rescue fire truck. Mountain brakes. The drums have fins and are heavy as hell. The shoes have pins that have snap rings to hold them in. Lol
Thanks for watching!!
Exactamente tiene q limpiar antes de armar,
Good but you must clean well the whole surface for you to be able to inspect well in future when the heat builds up it will melt that oil mixture oil and dust...but it's a good job.
Great Work
Wawww se jeant thanke you very match forever goode job super job 👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
Not sure if diesel guys flat rate but if they do, how much would this job pay? If you're fleet, about how much time would you be given to get this job done?
Did the diff.oil got replaced?
I'm gonna pretend I didn't just see you hubmount a wheelseal with just a hammer lol, but regardless I love your work bro
Sometimes you just don’t feel like getting up and grabbing the installer
Perfect video thanks
Limpieza primero que todo,

Where can I get the socket to remove the nuts... what is the name of the wrench to remove the large nuts?

Sir break shu pr break facing new lag jate hai
Good job
Thanks for watching!!
Hi
How Power rate of this impact wrench?
Please help want buy like this
For those asking about grease. It uses oil. You never wanna use both.
Thanks for watching!!
I just blew a wheel seal on my truck.
Thanks.
At work its hard to get perspective on doing installs of any procedure. The supervisors aren't mechanics, so doing a real good job is not the standpoint at allot of these big companies.
Desde México Tabasco
Das ist toll video 👍👏👏👏
Awesome
Honestly should use a seal tool to install the seal. But can depend on what type of seal you are using. Definitely for a national and cr seal.
Thanks for watching!!
Woww! No cleaning before put the news
Brake pads?
Thanks for watching!!
It was cleaned. Just skipped the boring process if you look right before the new brakes got put on.
Non, its one option 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching
I watch Pakistani trucks and there they put so much grease on these parts/shaft it’s different here. Does it need grease or not.
Is there any pre-adjustment on the brakes right after installation; or do the slack adjusters do it automatically??
Adjust the slacks to spec, check the travel. Should be it
I remember the old manual adjust slacks around 20 yrs ago- that was part of a pre-trip inspection & always had a brake or 2 to adjust or the chicken coup bears would swat U down. Lol 😁
Alot of people like to criticize and have their own opinions...who needs tourqe wrench when you have the experience.
Nice
Did you have to replace the bearings and races, or were you able to just clean them up ?
Thanks for watching!! Bearing/Races were replaced just not shown in video.
what about gear lube looks like its mixed with water , my cam bushing always had to be replaced he didn't even check them
Is it normal to only oil the bearing rather than pack it with grease ?
Will the diff ‘pump’ or splash it into the wheel bearings?
Oil will run to the outer ends of the axles and fill the hubs but I always put a little grease on mine.
Thanks for watching!! It gets oil through the rear diff.
Love ur videos as it is educational program for the young youths.. but let us teach them the right thing as I would never put it on without a good clean all them oil and grease also show them how to check for damages..
Thanks for watching!!
How much cost a job like that at dealership just wondering
Love your videos! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!!
Good teacha
Thanks for watching!!
Good 👍👍👍👍
Is the gear lubes full of water looks like rust ??
Thanks for watching!!! The wheel seal was leaking and allowing water to get in.
What kind of suspension is that? I can't remember seeing one of those.
I believe its a Hendrickson rubber block walking beam. Good on dump trucks.
What are the common socket sizes for the axle nut?
Thanks for watching!! This set should cover just about all of them: amzn.to/35eFdRW
@@SemiWorkin sweet thanks
You are my teacher
I'm surprised that I didn't see him fill the bearing cavity with grease.
Thanks for watching!! This bearing uses oil.
Hubs like this use gear oil, not grease.
good job.
The grease should be applied to the brake contacts or not😅
7:15
Thanks for watching!!
Ya. Do you forget to add grease
Ok well.i ain't no mechanic by any means ..but I a question..i saw no grease going with the bearing? Does this bearing needs no grease?
It does not need grease because there is already oil in the differential which will lubricate the bearings.
Thanks for watching and commenting these bearings are lubricated with oil from the rear end.
The torge on the hub's is 50 without the cone and 300 to 350 with a cone
Thanks for watching!!
@@SemiWorkin yes sir
How calling this type of suspension?
Thanks for watching!!
Wow
Why he didn't put grease on bearings
Thanks for watching!!
Exelente
And magically just like that, it’s clean! Wow I need to learn that trick! Also them brake shoes must be the magic pixie dust ones that are self adjusting! LOL
Where the grease to protect this bearing?😱😱😱
Thanks for watching!! This bearing uses oil not grease.
Grease insted of oil put into d bearing.nxtwik d bearing is worn out again.
should always use a stamp before installing the bearing ...
Thanks for watching!!
What do you mean a stamp?
@@bladimirb4526 What I mean is Grease.....
@@akhmadfauzy6843 oh yeah good idea
@@akhmadfauzy6843 he put gear oil on them .they only use oil.The oil runs from the center, / ring and pinion carrier through the axles into the bearings and keeps them lubed that way
It needs bearings and races to.
Thanks for watching!!
No grease?
No grease
Girish kaun dalega

Would be great if he add the tool sizes
Thanks for watching!!
1. He did grease the bearings
2. The seal is a hammer in seal not a press
Thanks for watching and commenting!! You definitely know what your looking at.
I don’t like the free style tightening of the hub
Helo
una limpiadita no nada barrio?
Why you not give the Grease
Different strokes for different folks, no torque wrench? No oil in the hub? That wouldn't fly at my shop. But I guess...
Some of the hubs I have used has a Allen screw spot , after I get axle in put 1qt or 2 in hub then check, diff to make sure full
